Chapter: Chapter 29
"Sierra?" I squeezed my eyes and then opened them, blinking furiously. My body was stiff as I rolled over to my side. I moaned in uneasiness and a pair of strong arm came around my head and lower back, helping me off the ground. I had been unconscious for only a few minutes until Azrael's voice reached my ears. That was the first time I had heard him speaking softly with concern and the heat of his body coursing through mine, giving me an odd sense of relief. "Don't move too abruptly, you still have few slashes to be healed." His voice was scruff but pleasurable. I tried too hard to not to shudder under his touch as the tip of his fingers grazed my bare skin on the neck. "Scylla. . ." My voice was hoarse and scratchy but I needed to be sure if everything was an illusion. "She is no more here. You freed her, Era." I met his silver eyes and felt a flutter inside me upon hearing the n

Chapter: Chapter 28
I peered up at the spooky mansion and the heaviness of gloom surrounding it. Dusk was once again in its sanguine glow with the twinkles of Fuathland. Once Sierra had stepped outside the large south door, Dracae had placed the sorcery wall around her land and now the place was only a shimmering dot in the mid of a never-ending desert. No one from outside would be able to think about the thousands of crowd, living inside the small shiny dot. The only thing which was restricting the cursed yard of an old mansion to stretch upto the door of Fuathland was a wide lake, with the black shore. It was evident that the lake itself had been used for the purpose of black sorcery, at some point in past. Beyond the lake, the walls of the mansion howled. There was wilderness around the place, showing the bluntness, no single soul had whisked here for decades, if not centuries. All around the trembling mansion was nothing but ashes and ruins, rotten r

Chapter: Chapter 27
"Welcome to the Fuath realm, Sierra." Dracae passed me a small smile as we stopped in front of an old Inn. "I, the Bunyip queen Dracae, welcomes in Fuathland." I nodded numbly at her and listened to the hubbub of voices all around us. Xavier along with Uriel, Michael and Gabriel, was sitting around a wooden bench with a tankard filled with something that resembled beer. I was leaning against Inn's locked door across the street from them. Dracae had led us to this area saying, 'before starting towards our destination, let the lads loosen up.' Oddly to my intense surprise, I didn't interact with any other of the living creature since we had arrived in the Fuath realm, a few hours ago. I used these few moments of solace with my thoughts. The only realization which bothered me in slight was, my limbs always tend to know what is required to escape the clutches of danger. Stuck amid a vision or a fight, I always had worked on my instincts,

Chapter: Chapter 26
"I take it, you were aware of my presence from the starting?" The woman in Xavier's grasp drawled in a musical accent. Her voice resembling the chimes of a melodious cluster of bells. My eyes flickered between Uriel, Raph, Michael and Gab but they all were wearing a similar expression as Xavier, partly amused, partly knowing. I focused back on the lady who was looking like, someone crawled up from the pages of ancient archaeology. She was wearing a linen chiton dress of a deep shady brown which had too many pleats, hurdled at her front, and had golden shoulder clasps attached to the body-length dress. The uniqueness of dress and the heavy jewellery items on her body screamed the novelty. "Yes, I was aware of your presence, Dracae. But you have me slightly suspicious, were you even planning to make your presence visible?" The playful scowl on Xavier's face confirmed my silent theory that they were ol

Chapter: Chapter 25
"How easy it was to lure you into our trap." They all were looking exact same-- hollow structures of black smoke, limbs made up of smoke, no trace of eyes or mouth. There was nothing which I could slash or scratch onto but just dark surging smoke. Once they had brought their blades down towards me, I ducked down and crawled out of their grasps. I had run in a random direction without any specific place or stop in mind. Ignoring the burn in my lungs and dryness in my throat, I sprinted as fast as my legs could have mustered. But they followed me anyways. They floated above me, roaring and basking in my misery, while I screamed and clawed at the tendrils and branches on my way. No one heard me, no one helped. I had been tricked and trapped in an unknown place. "You believed in our words from the very start. Those brothers and Xavier were pacing inside that mansion, waiting for their protector to wake up." One of the fi

Chapter: Chapter 24
I whirled on my heels abruptly, the brown curls of my hair bounced and whipped across my face. Michael stood a few feets away from us along with Gabriel. The cold, emotionless look on former while the gloomy–– as expected–– look on the latter one."What do you mean by an opaque veil?" I tried my best to keep my voice neutral and emotionless but my traitor larynx released a choked gasp and my voice came out as a squeak.Michael, instead of erasing my confusion, ran his hand through his blonde fluff of hair while Gabriel stood there with both his hands tucked in his pant pocket. My eyes shamelessly traced the occasional bulge in Michael's forearm, each time he swept his fingers through his hair. At a moment in the very start, I found it ridiculously strange that these four of the five brothers always wore exact same clothes– black rugged pants with a button-down checkered black and navy shirts whose sleeves rolled up to their elbows.
