Chapter: 10/ Deathly Charges
Even with the dull curtains drawn, harsh light still seeped from the window and lit up the room.Rollen winced at the ferocity of the rays as they pierced his eyes. He forced them shut hastily, not wanting to experience the wrath of the sun. The red of his eyelids thrust an image of dark spilled blood. Instantly he pried them open. He blinked rapidly as his eyes adjusted slowly to the light. After a few seconds, his vision was bearable enough to take in his surroundings.

Chapter: 9/ Latent Emergence
Avira peeled open her eyelids to the sight of a plain field alongside a bordering wood. Cotton-like clouds dwelt high on the bright blue sky as the sun shone its rays onto the earth. The pop of green in the forest was fresh and lively, a cool inviting hue. Somewhere nearby a bird answered the call of its mate with a shrill cry. The vast expanse of nature took her breath away. Avira drank in the peaceful landscape with eager eyes. She felt the urge to spread out her arms to embrace the cool refreshing wind and lounge to the bright rays.

Chapter: 7/ No Beginning or End
Without a second thought Rollen charged into the darkness inside the tower before leaping up the slick winding staircase. It was even darker than before, the shadows gathering into a gloomy presence. It seemed to roil and unfurl in a ghostly dance, like black mist swayed by a gentle breeze. As he climbed Rollen noticed the heavy feel of magic was oddly absent, as though broken down and sucked away. At that he pumped his legs harder against the smooth steps. Higher he went, nearing the enchanted doorway when the air filled with a sharp scent, almost like ashes but with an underl

Chapter: 7/ Alliance
An unspoken routine fell into place over the next few days. From noon to evening, Maester Enzar would instruct Avira on new techniques of lethal offensive magic and physical combat. With the rise of the moon came the practical exercises. Then, she was put to the test against several assailants. Each time ended with the loss of many lives, not that it was a problem to the King. He would most likely announce their death to their families that they had fallen in battle or rebel attacks. Afterwards, she would be left to rest in her chambers till midday. In between all this she was provided with meals, better than she had ever received. The cycle ran on.

Chapter: 6/ Allyn's Tower
The clash of swords rang out sharply in the air.A twenty meter wide training field lay next to the wall, where Rollen watched the two men dive into an attack with amused interest, arms folded against his chest. Both fighters were clad in leather armor, tough enough to block attacks but allowed them to enact fluid nimble movements with ease. Tyford was one of the opponents, matched against a guard with red-brown hair. He stood still, feet apart, clutching his sword as he waited for his opponent

Chapter: 5/ The King's Training
Lewin clasped iron shackles over Avira's wrists. They were tight and slightly heavy, chafing her skin with the slightest movement. Another guard, Daris, clutched her by the elbow and yanked her along. Due to years of captivity, she had learned the names of guards who she constantly saw. Few were entrusted with the knowledge of Avira's presence within the castle, allowing the same people to take her to and from her chambers. She was led through a series of twists and turns, veering from one corri
