Ben knew it was too late to talk to his parents about what just happened right now, so he tried to go to sleep instead. He managed to eventually, but it took him a while as his mind couldn’t help but go back to everything. He had surprisingly taken things in stride earlier, but that was more of him not being able process everything yet than actually being emotionally ‘strong’.Not that he thought of himself as the latter.

Ben had a feeling that it may be a long one, so he sat down on his chair and leaned forward on his desk in genuine interest. “Just go on, okay?”he said.

“There you are, Joseph. I am surprised that I haven’t tried this method before.”Back when Ben was suffering from the coffee, John had anticipated that the young master and his friend would need water, but he thought that this other event was more important. It turned out that while Joseph could travel through shadows, it didn’t quite mean that he was undetectable.

Ben opened his eyes to find himself lying down on his bed. Nico and John were beside him, and seemed to be watching over him the whole time. Then, recalling part of the emergency that he had earlier, he quickly sat up.“Whoa, man! Don’t do that, you might end up dying or something,” said Nico, while trying to push Ben gently back.

The rich smell of coffee wafted in the air and mingled with the scent of books and paper as the ever-capable John brought the warm beverage into the study. He had included sugar as well as milk on the tray, in case any of them felt up to it.“Thanks man, you’re a lifesaver,” said Nico as he gestured to the butler to lay the tray down on one of the tables that didn’t have their computers.

“Nico! I’m here!” said Ben, waving frantically to his friend, who had just come into the classroom. Beside him was Francis, who was apparently in the same subject, and was glaring.If class had already been going on as normal, the newcomer would have been late. But the teacher still wasn’t around, and so he was still okay. He quickly but smoothly went to the empty seat beside Ben.

“What I would like to ask you is to assist me. Please help me stop him if this is what he’s planning.”Was this what they meant by ‘third time’s the charm’? First, it was Nini who needed help, then it’s Ella, and now here was Caitlyn. Ryne had agreed to the first two people and requests, but now he was starting to have doubts again. Mostly with himself.

“H-Hello. Are you Mr. Spencer Smith? The student from the college?” said a lady in an office uniform and glasses.“Yes,” answered Ryne.“Thank you so much for agreeing to meet with me today, or rather, tonight.”

“I don’t mean to spoil the moment, but if I may ask, what do we do with this… new information?” asked Shekau.“Right. Thank you,” said Ryne. “As of now, I believe that the two humans that we have met earlier may have something to do with this. Our efforts may likely gain more fruit if we put some focus on keeping track of them.”

Eddie made his way back to the Mayor’s office. Contrary to his usual self, he looked a little more serious. That was because, all the while, he thought of what he and Mallory had talked about in the hospital.He never thought that his friend was actually thinking about his welfare all this time. As he had told Mallory, he thought that he wasn’t someone who anyone should be worried for. Why show concern for someone who didn’t give any? Those smiles? That carefree demeanor? Fake.

“Speaking of information… May I present mine?”A silence fell on the whole group as Prauza asked the question.“Yes, please. I was actually curious as to what was up with you back at the hospital,” answered Ryne.

“I can’t believe I got like that! I’m so… UGH!”Ella’s embarrassment was over the roof as she recalled what had happened back in Illemore Mental Hospital. They have moved locations since then, as they couldn’t get any ‘interviews’ other than that of Eddie’s. It was nearly lunch time, so they went to one of the local restaurants that had outdoor seating. After all, they had cats with them.
