Re-building My Kingdom

Re-building My Kingdom

When this beast came to a standstill after four days, it was transformed into wall of deadly weapons with almost infinite power. After few days, the wasteland that the beast left behind became a green paradise of lush meadows, small forest islands, lakes and rivers. meanwhile, the core of the city formed, shimmering silver and flawless. Like a twinkling star, the kingdom now sat enthroned in perfection over the rest of the world, which looked up to her in fear and yet hoping. Fear turned into anger, jealous hope turned into hatred and people did everything to usurp it. All countries sent their armies and united their forces. But all their projectiles and bombs crashed into a sapphire-blue shimmering energy dome that enclosed it; everything else that came too close to her was instantly torn to pieces by the beast. Even the most powerful human weapons of mass destruction turned to dust before they even got anywhere near their destination. Millions of soldiers died and an ominous ring of corpses, wrecks and scorched earth surrounded it within a few weeks. Exhausted, people gave up and things got quieter for a few years. But one day one of these gods stepped out and attacked humanity mercilessly. For six days it raged across the planet, destroying one city after another. This time it was all about survival, the preservation of their own species. This gave the people a lot of strength and so they tried bitterly to defend their last great city against an impossible enemy. A brave general, with the few remaining armed forces in the world, struck him down in a daring attack and saved humanity from total extinction. How exactly she managed this has not been recorded; this day was honored and called the end of great war.

Chapter: Atomic bombs
In the few milliseconds that Val had to reflect on his life, he thought calmly about the short but nice time he spent with Milena. He would like to know more about his strange dreams, that uncomfortable woman and invisible spaceships that disintegrate when they crash. But that was all over now. Nothing could stop the blade, which weighed several tons, as it moved in free fall towards him.And this time he wouldn't be able to wake up in a dirty alley and go home, because he believed the priest that the weapon could kill gods. Even if not, he would wake up in a coffin deep underground and be trapped there forever. Val completely resigned and just hoped that the pain wouldn't last too long. But it just didn't seem to go on. He had heard a lot about the fact that time goes by much more slowly in the face of death, but that had been ridiculously long, he thought, and at the same time felt his fear subside and a wave of energy roll over his body. He's been killed so many times, he'

Chapter: Startup successful
Val's blood had long since seeped into the ground, but the stains were still clearly visible. The soldier's body was simply left there. Han took a closer look. He couldn't find out what he died of. There was no outside influence. There was a tiny bit of blood on the blade of the knife, but Han couldn't tell whose blood it was. It wasn't Val's, anyway, because it gave off a small amount of unknown energy that Han could feel. Discouraged, he went a little further, where he saw the deep gashes of a heavy tracked vehicle in the ground. The tracks led in the direction of Marista. Han set off immediately, but it was a very long walk and he had only a few clues as to where they could take them.A little later, there was an unexpected low beep from his breast pocket. He reached in and took out a bracelet that was some kind of communication device. Han always carried it around, even though it hadn't worked in ages. So he was very surprised when the small device suddenly spoke u

Chapter: Protection
The next morning, Val wakes up very rested. He can't remember ever slept this well. Milena had been on her feet for a while, washing the dishes from last night. Val went outside and looked into the forest. Everything was so peaceful and calm. The sounds of the forest and the fragrant air created a feeling of deep bliss in him. The sun shone through the trees at a steep angle and bathed the clearing in a lush green. The dew glittered gracefully on the leaves and the mist ran down the valley below them, slowly giving way to the warmth. Val felt a satisfied prudence flow through him and yet felt a rough seething deep in his mind.Scraps of memories he couldn't place, the strange dreams and what was going on with this guy from yesterday. But what gnawed at him the most was that incident in the lab and the reaction of this uncomfortable woman. He sat down by the well and poked around in the floor with a small piece of wood. Milena opened the door somewhat shyly to check on Val.

"Are you one of them?" He asked a little scared."I do not understand what you mean."“Are we still on earth? Or already on another planet? ”Milena only grimaced questioningly. She didn't know how to react to that."You don't look like one of them.", Val said a little more relaxed. “They found something and wanted to take me to a spaceport. But if you got me out of there. ”He paused. "Did you take off my clothes?" Milena hadn't given any further thought to the fact that this might become an issue later and had no answer ready.“It rained and you were passed out. Otherwise you could have caught a bad cold. It couldn't be any other way. “Val noticed that Milena was a bit tense."Is okay. It's nice for you here. ”He smiled at her. Milena smiled back."Thank you. Somebody helped me to build it. ""Oh." Val said a little more distantly. “Definitely the guy who was with you. He's sure your fri

Her food sizzled unnoticed on the small stove while Milena stared absently and thoughtfully at the ceiling. She felt how something incredibly big and important was spreading in her mind and seemed to take her completely. It was total chaos, as if she could look into the deep tissues of the universe and be devoured by it. But she didn't feel lost in it, because there was something that was so much more important than anything else around her. It was a tiny point, a shade, a needle in a haystack. It was almost nothing, but only almost. It was just a tiny bit more than nothing, but it wasn't nothing . Her mind was so focused on this point that she could almost grab it. She got closer and closer to this tiny point until she finally touched it. At that moment everything changed, as if she had knocked over a domino and started a never-ending chain reaction. When she averted her gaze from the ceiling, her food was completely burned, the stove had switched off after the smoke alarm w

You are sure to come with me voluntarily.", She said very friendly and smiled. Only now did Val see her eyes. They were orange. Val had never heard of the fact that people can have orange eyes. She also had very pale skin and freckles on her face, which made the contrast to this unusual eye color even more extreme. Val slowly walked up to her and studied the area. Everything looked the same: white, illuminated with LED strips and completely pure.He made a plan. Fraya didn't look very strong, even Val could overwhelm her. But how does he find his way back home? He decided to think about it later and continued to examine her body for weak spots. Her stomach seemed the most logical target to him. Then he considered which combination of blows to use to initiate his escape. A strong punch with the fist, the elbow or a courageous kick? All of these questions immediately fell silent when he left the room and saw the two huge, heavily armored guys standing with their backs ag

Race Against Time

Race Against Time

Four bullets riddled the man in black's chest. This was thrown to the ground by the force of the impacts, the weapon fell from his hand. Aaren immediately ran off but ... to his horror, the inspector had to see how the man slowly got up again, felt for his weapon. "What the ..." He sent another volley of bullets into the man's body, but the man still made no move to die. Instead, a bloody grin spread across his face. The dark eyes studied him with animal calm ... Aaren was frightened. An unfamiliar feeling. But he blocked it out. He could hear the blood rushing in his ears while the man who didn't want to die continued to feel for his weapon. He was faster. The next bullet hit his opponent in the head. The skull was half destroyed. "But you have to do that.", He thought. The figure finally collapsed and stopped moving. For a while he stood leaning heavily over the dead man. The man should have been dead after the first hits . The man should have just been dead ... that was the only thought that echoed through his head like a stuck record. Aaren was finally able to bring himself to keep walking. The landing platform couldn't be far. When he stumbled through a double door into the open, he had to briefly shield his face with his hand. The sun blinded him and the sound of engines roaring in his ears. A DropShip was ready to take off on the platform and Callahan, along with two other men, was just about to board. The sea rushed below them and ... if he wasn't mistaken, he heard more machines starting. Will the mystery of missing officials get solved?

Chapter: The two ships
Aaren and Abundius just stood in silence for a while in front of the passage to the next room.Nobody said anything. The dim lighting of the room lit their faces and only the hum of the ship's generators broke the silence."Is that why he was so afraid that we would look around here?" Abundius asked when he found his language again."The power outage must have almost killed it," Aaren muttered as he stepped into the room.Half of the interior was occupied by a large water tank similar to those further up the front on the laboratory deck. The pool here, however, was only poorly lit. Suspended particles floated through the rays of light and something was floating in the water in the semi-darkness.The first thing Aaren noticed were the half-closed golden eyes. They looked almost indifferent, but barely followed his or Abundius' every movement. It turned out to be asleep or dead, as he slowly realized. Aaren refused to think about what t

If you see there is nothing here." The laboratory deck consisted mostly of endless rows of storage tanks. Plants, fish, algae. Most were dead. The tanks had probably not been able to cope with several days without electricity.Somehow it was creepy to wander through the silent, water-filled glass columns. Like walking through a strange, translucent forest. In between there was an office or laboratory several times , but nothing worked there either without electricity. A few files were scattered on the floor. Aaren stopped several times and looked over some of them but found nothing of interest. Most of them were logs: What was found where and when, sometimes with a short description. There were also endless notes on the possible effects of plant substances and in the farthest corner of one of the laboratories he also found a, strangely undamaged, test tube with the red-black substance that Eleanor had shown them. He left it. If the gover

At least let me send someone along," Callahan said. They were just about to launch a small speedboat that would take him and Abundius to the Salmakis wreck. He was already in the boat and checked instruments and their equipment."No." Aaren said curtly."You don't trust me," the governor stated."Does that surprise you?" He tried to climb down a ladder into the boat, but the governor stopped him.“I am not your enemy. If only you could listen to me. ""But you are also not a friend of the electorate.""I never said that.""Then they are against the order and the government that has brought us peace," said Aaren. The governor was silent for a moment, but neither did he step aside. “Order, he said at last,“ depends on how you define the term. What is orderly is always determined by a government. About laws. And the people follow them as long as they can bear the laws. "For a moment he looked

Mentally dead? Monster? ""I wanted to say cold.""Of course they wanted that.""I always thought the commissioners ... I don't know what I was thinking."“I appreciate what they were told. The first and last line of defense of the electorate. The great guards of order perhaps? ”Aaren slowly shook his head and looked out to sea, where a ship was now approaching. He didn't know if this was it for her.“You need a reason Abundius to be like me. I have never met a Commissioner who has not lost something or someone. That's what defines us. So one can bear it without judging and acting without feelings. Absolutus aequalitas . Absolute justice. These are the commissioners. ""That just sounds cruel.", Abundius replied.“Not as cruel as what you would otherwise go through. I can only hope for everyone not to have to find out for themselves. "Both were silent for a while. Then Abundius spoke a

What is the status of the ship now?” Aaren wanted to know."The Salmakis got caught in a storm a good two hours ago.", Repeated the governor. "Unfortunately, the planet's ionosphere makes radio communication quite difficult and in these weather conditions ..." Outside, the sea , now shrouded in darkness, was even more turbulent than usual. Waves that almost reached the lower edge of the Hive platform crashed against the shields, which could no longer fully withstand the force of the forces of nature. Each wave shook the station slightly. “It would be suicide to send a ship out there, even with storm shields. I'm sorry, but you will have to wait until tomorrow. "Callahan's office was a large room on one of the upper floors of the county. Next to the window were several shelves with books, most of them classical literature. The Odyssey, Iliad, some poets. He only paused at one book title."Order and light - a treatise

Stuffed, smoke-filled air hit him as he struggled through the industrial sectors. Sparks rose from a large melt in which the manganese nodules harvested by the ships were melted down and separated into ores. A steady stream of molten metal poured into molds and other ovens. And the infernal noise of a thousand machines boomed in his ears.Aaren approached a group of workers in typical orange Omnisphere overalls, which stood a little to one side. He was now on one of the deepest levels of the station, near the bottom of the sea. The pressure of the surrounding sea water made the entire structure tremble again and again, even if there was probably no acute danger.Aaren leaned against one of the huge struts in the hall and listened. The noise drowned out almost half of the workers' conversation, but what he heard was enough for him."Another accident ...""On one of the ore ships?""Don't believe that ..."“The third one the

Chapter: Strange
Despite Vanessa's fears that the incident had certainly not contributed to making life here more pleasant, the next few days went smoothly and in the usual way.At first she wasn't sure what to do with David now, but apart from meals she hardly saw him. On the few occasions they met, he acted as he always did, and so their concerns gradually subsided. The following week, Jeremy reminded her of her promise to go out with him.In all the excitement she had totally forgotten about it, and she was now looking forward to a nice evening with him. They had arranged to meet in town, and after Vanessa had made herself carefully, she set off.Jeremy led them to a small restaurant, where they made themselves comfortable at one of the tables on the terrace. The food was excellent and, like that evening in the garden, Vanessa enjoyed his company. They talked cheerfully about God and the world, and at some point they came up with Danny."I'm

Chapter: Hypocritical smile
"Great Vanessa, now you've screwed it up for good, great achievement," she muttered dryly to herself when her anger was halfway down. She paced back and forth in her room nervously like a tiger in a cage. She was still mad at David for putting her in such a position. If he hadn't just run away, that wouldn't have happened. But it was also clear to her that she had gone decidedly too far with her appearance - no employer would put up with that. She wondered if she should apologize, but she still felt right about Danny, and she was sure that David would not accept an apology but would definitely kick her out, so she could save herself that.Without further ado she decided to get ahead of him and go by herself, that would probably save her another ugly scene and was probably the best for everyone. The money she had earned so far, after deducting all liabilities, would at least be enough for her to get a ticket home. She quickly got dressed and

Chapter: David?
The next afternoon, Vanessa gave in to Danny's urging to go to the park with him.As they passed the deliberate archway that Vanessa remembered all too clearly on the way there, their steps stopped. But after yesterday evening she felt so good today that she didn't want to let it spoil her mood, and she quickly followed Danny, who had already run far ahead of her again.Danny wasn't quite as cheerful today as usual. Contrary to his usual manner, he was pretty calm, and she had the feeling that he missed his father. She did her best to distract him. Together they romped across the meadow, played with the ball they had brought from home, swung and played a game at one of the chess tables.Even so, Danny kept getting quieter, and as evening was getting on anyway, Vanessa decided it was better to go home. When they got there, Jeremy was sitting on the couch flipping through a magazine."Hi, I thought I'd get on your nerves a little over d

Chapter: Jokes
It was still gray and cloudy outside, in keeping with Vanessa's mood.Tired and brooding, she sat on her bed, she would have preferred not to get up in the first place, but she knew that she had to sort it out somehow. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that she had reacted completely inappropriately to a harmless and well-meaning gesture. She had been scared, and David had meant nothing more than to reassure her, no more and no less.Of course he had noticed her reaction, understandable that he had let go of her immediately as if bitten by the tarantula. His face had spoken volumes, no wonder after throwing herself into his arms like that."Oh god, I acted like a pubescent teen," she thought, horrified. “What does he think of me now?” She wasgetting angry with herself. How could she be so stupid? How could she have misunderstood the helpfulness of an almost strange man so completely?Maybe it was because she f

Chapter: Impression
The days splashed by in the same rhythm, and except for Antonia, who still barely exchanged a word with her and continued to look at her spitefully, everything was almost perfect. It had been a couple of weeks since the pool incident, and Vanessa was glad David had apparently calmed down. He seemed a little more reserved than before, but she could live with that.Danny's affection for her grew steadily, and since she had told him the story of the Loch Ness Monster a few days ago he affectionately abbreviated her name to "Nessie."It was Sunday, they had just finished breakfast, and David and Danny were debating what to do together today. It had rained the day before, dark clouds had also appeared in the morning, but now it was sunny and warm outside again, and finally they decided to have a picnic in the city park.Danny, as always overflowing with enthusiasm, looked pleadingly at Vanessa.“Nessie, are you coming with us? Chapter: Dilemma
Vanessa woke up the next morning with mixed feelings. She could still see the scene of the previous evening clearly in front of her, and she had no idea what to do if she were about to sit across from David at the breakfast table.Fortunately, she was able to brush this aside for now, because when she came down there was no one to be seen; apparently the two had left early.Vanessa was relieved, but she was aware that her problem was only postponed and far from solved. She just hoped David had calmed down and there wouldn't be any more trouble.Lost in thought, she chewed on her breakfast with no real appetite, after which she made herself comfortable on the couch and watched some silly game show on TV that didn't really interest her. When she was about to switch, her cell phone rang.Surprised, she looked at the display and beamed with joy."Nicky," she called cheerfully after answering the call.
