"People are guests in our story, the same way we are guests in theirs. But we all meet each other for a reason because every person is a personal lesson waiting to be told."

❄️✨❄️

Derin walked further into the house; into the tastefully illuminated and furnished kitchen she fell in love with on first sighting before going to explore the rest of the house.

She found that the house had six rooms, apart from the main room, kitchen and dining area. Two in use, one an exercise room filled to the brim with various exercising machinery and equipment, and the other looked like it belonged to Daniel, as you could tell from the scattered and messy view that the room displayed.

She chose one of the neatly arraigned rooms and unloaded before, undressing out of her wedding garment and unto something more comfortable; a white singlet over a blue bump short, before proceeding to the kitchen to prepare something to munch on.

After a superb meal of chips and cider drink, she resigned to the bedroom.

"Mum! Dad! Wherever you are now, I just wish to let you know that I'm now a married woman, joined to a fellow who I barely know. I just hope you'll both not neglect me and my sister, please," Derin soliloquized as she stared at her parents' pictures and tears rolled out of her eyes but where intercepted by her hand that wiped them off instantly.

Her mother's voice echoed in her ears as she recalled the last light she had shared with them. Her mother was someone who always believed that there was a God up in the skies -she called Him the Creator, and she kept her hopes and trusts in Him.

Recalling this, Derin knelt beside her bed, in payer, "lord! I'm starting a new life today and I call for your guidance and love. I know that I've never believed in you but I hear that you're a father to the fatherless and motherless and so I seek your love," she bellowed in prayers before she got on the king-sized bed and awaited the slumber to draw her away.

Finally, she dozed off minutes later.

💮💮💮

The sunlight glared straight on to her face and she woke up realizing that it was dawn already and this would mark her first day of her matrimonial life with Daniel.

She stood up, although lazily, from the bed and dragged herself to the bathroom to wash her face before she proceeded to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. There was no sign of her husband returning or been in the house, so she walked out through the main door.

"Hey!" She called the gate-man who sat idly at his post and, he looked up at her immediately, not sure if she'd called him.

"Yes you! Come over here" she said on top of her voice to the short, dark and slim middle-aged man who rose from his seat and ran to her.

"Yes, Madame!" He replied as soon as he got in front of her.

"What's your name?" Derin asked curiously, her gaze set on him.

"I am Ben!" He answered smoothly but you could tell that he forced his dialect to convey those few words, while they twitched to switch to vernacular, and she smiled at his actions.

"Has my husband Daniel returned?" Derin asked, careful with what she'd say.

The man shook his head immediately as a response to her question, confirming that Daniel hadn't returned. "Ok thank you, Ben."

"You're welcomed madam," he said, and she returned inside.

"So he plans to neglect me all alone in this house?" She thought aloud as she walked back inside.

💮💮💮

Later in the afternoon, Derin was making lunch for herself when a loud horn was heard at the gate, she stepped out of the kitchen hurriedly and in the form of a slight dash, expecting it'd be Daniel and lo, it was him.

Daniel drove into the yard and was greeted by Ben "Welcome boss!" before he closed the gate after the car parked at the garage.

Daniel alighted from the car with a bottle of beer in one hand, as he wobbled out before closing the car door with his free hand. Derin unlocked the door and watched him wobble towards her.

"Welcome!" Derin greeted him, but he just waddled pass her and then slumped on the chair.

She was dismayed to see him that way, not that she knew him, but a drunk, she didn't except him to be.

She sighed before closing the door and walking to him as he lay wasted on the couch.

On glancing at his face, his eyes were sealed shut, and he was snoring, boy! He'd slept off. A laugh escaped her lips as she saw how vulnerable he looked like now and not to mention that he looked so adorable sleeping.

She tapped him lightly, hoping he'll wake, but he just murmured incoherent words, twisted and turned aside, but his grip still on the half-drunk beer tightly.

Derin carefully eased his grasp on the bottle; unwrapping his fingers before successfully getting him to drop the bottle. She took the bottle, dropped it on the dining table before returning to him, crouching by his side.

"Dan!" She called to him as she tapped his shoulders but he only turned in his sleep.

"Daniel!" She tapped once more but got a louder snore.

She groaned in frustration as she stood up.

"Well, aren't you a cranny baby, Daniel?" She said, before smiling at her utterance but then stopped herself from laughing as she realized that she needed to move him to his room but heck! This man must weigh pounds and there's no way she'll be able to take him up herself.

"Ben!" She called out to the gateman who came rushing in immediately.

"Yes, Madame!" He replied on getting inside.

"Help me with Daniel to his room," Derin said, pointing to the snoring Daniel on the couch.

The man didn't hesitate and instantly went to lift Daniel up. Derin assisted him as they with much difficulty, carried him to his once messed up room. Yes, she already cleaned it up.

"Where ma?" Ben asked.

"Right on the bed?" Derin said as they placed Daniel on his bed before they both sighed tiredly.

Daniel deserved an Oscar for being the heaviest and crankiest sleeper in the world.

"Thank you, Ben," she said to the gate-man.

"You're welcome madam," he replied, then left the room.

"Oh!" Derin whooshed out, before looking at the reason for her current exhaustion; He lay with his face facing the ceiling.

He still had his shoes on and his heavy clothing. Derin removed his shoes, one after the other, before proceeding to unbutton his shirt, revealing his six packed abs and she craved to touch him.

"What am I thinking?" Derin asked herself as she scratched her head, "No!" She reprimanded herself, pushing away the thoughts as she covered him with the blanket, stopping only at his waist.

Taking a last glance at him, she grinned before exiting the room, returning to the kitchen to continue her cooking.

She only wondered:

Where he'd been? Why he'd returned home a drunk?

Yes, she's been told and heard that he's wayward but drinking It didn't fit him. He didn't seem to have issues and so she couldn't think of a reason for his intoxication.

"If you have carefully examined hundred people you met in your life journey, it means that you have read hundred different books! Every person you know is a book. The world is full of walking books; some are boring, some are marvelous, some are weak, some are powerful, but they are all useful because they all carry different experiences of different paths!"
