  I woke up shortly after, still a little dizzy and disoriented so both my parents told me to go to bed. I did as they told me not because I was always supposed to listen to them but because honestly I could stand to be around them at the moment. I sat up in my room with only my thoughts. Trying to understand everything that had taken place. Thinking that maybe if I had asked for a big birthday party maybe just maybe I wouldn’t have found out today. But, then again would it have really made a difference which day I would have found out. I don’t think that would have made the pain any less than what I was feeling now.   "Breaking news from Mississippi state correctional facilities Mr. and Mrs. Smith 16 year residents have broken out. How these criminals with no communication known to the warddens hace secsevaly escaped two prisons on the same day are still under investigation. Their destination is still unknown. If you see or hear anything about Frank or Susan Smith please contact your local authorities. Please keep in mind these two are very dangerous. If you heard about their cause they killed 12 people in a 24 hour period on halloween almost 17 years ago. Please do not open your doors or try to apprehend them ourselves."

  My father kept looking like he wanted to say something but, never did. We got home and I just sat there in the car looking at the house I grew up in. uTrying to wrap the past few hours in my head. My father walked over to the passenger side and opened my door. "You coming in Sugar plum? Your mom and I really would like to explain everything to you." I just nodded my head and slowly got out of the car. As we got closer to the door a million things went through my mind. For instance what exactly was going to be said. What inspired them to tell me on my 16th birthday after making plans of celebrating? Where are they going to tell me Shawn was adopted? W

  My mother who I completely forgot was sitting beside me finally spoke up. "Yes sweetheart we adopted you when you were a month old. When we brought you home we were the happiest we had ever been. You were every bit of perfect. You were so beautiful and smart we decided that we wouldn't tell you about the adoption until we absolutely had to." She tried to continue but I couldn't listen any more. I jumped up and screamed at both of them.

  As we pulled into the driveway every looked as normal as it could be. I couldn't wait to spend time with my family and put this whole thing behind me. Shawn and I were going to play video games while my parents got dinner ready. I couldn't wait because I loved spending time with Shawn. So I got out of the car and I ran into the house with all the excitement in the world. "Alright Shawny boy it's time to get your butt kicked." I shouted as I ran into the house. I went straight to the livingroom and froze in my footsteps. Instead of finding Shawn ready to play games I found my mother on the couch crying.
