Even if Gabriel wasn't hungry, he was, sex always made him hungry.."Here you are, coffee and toast," he said, pushing the door shut with his foot.Gabriel looked up from checking his emails, "Thanks," he looked at the tray which held granary toast, and a little dish piled high with curls of butter, he grinned up at Nick. "You being playing chef again?" He said, pointing to the butter.Nick laughed sitting on the end of the bed the tray between them, "No that was Lucy playing house, the fridge is full of butter curls and chocolate curls, I think there's even a dish full of carrot curls."Gabriel raised his brow, "You have a butter curler in your kitchen drawer?" He said spreading one of the said curls on his toast.Nick shrugged "God knows, I suppose I must have if Lucy found it?"
Gabriel lay comfortably resting on the pillows that Nick had carefully arranged. Physically, he had aches in places that he'd never had before. Mentally, he wasn't sure how he was feeling. He pushed his hair back from his face and opened his eyes. He stilled immediately, that didn't look right, where was the usual crap on his bedside table? It slowly dawned.
The rehearsal seemed to go on forever, and Gabriel could see that Nick's temper was running short. They sat on flight cases and chilled while the sparky's sorted the lights out. They did more rehearsing, and at last, they called time. It wasn't as if they didn't know the songs, but there had been problems with the lights and Nick made excuses that the room was too cold for him to sing and the fact that he still wasn't feeling too good."I'm not straining my voice on a rehearsal; I'm done." He said, tossing the mic to his technician and jumping off the makeshift stage.Gabriel was feeling very nervous now, nervous and excited. He sat for a minute still behind his drums as if he was hiding, and when he eventually did stand up from his stool, his knees turned to jelly. For a moment, he held onto his snare drum, he took a deep breath and locked his knees.Nick hadn't looked at him all the time he was singing, which was strange as he always came to stan
