SCENERYIt's Monday morning and Choco is at the Adams' door knocking. She wants to appreciate him for helping her out and to break the news to him that she had got the Job. Little praise opened the door, she's dressed in her school uniform looking prepared for school. "Dad is upstairs, you can come inside and wait for him" Jomiloju answered Choco from the inside, he was also dressed up and she was wondering why. She got inside and sat down expecting to see Mr. Adams. She looked around the house examining the beautiful interior design, the decorator must be a world class decorator. Jomiloju kept going up and down and to the Kitchen while praise sat down with Choco trying to see if she could play with her phone but the apple product was locked and she couldn't do anything with it.Jomiloju had initially told Choco that the Union body that comprised of all lecturers are on strike, even the news confirmed it to her too buh here is Jomiloju
BUSINESS DEALSIt's early in the morning, she wrapped her gown round her tightly as she finds her way to the dinning where she remembered her phone was before she went to bed. The phone was there on the table with missed calls from her mother and she also had another unknown missed call, It was a Nigerian number but the owner was unknown. She had plans to buy a MTN sim card but it skipped her mind so she didn't bother to check the Nigerian caller out because she was sure she had not given out her number to someone who would be calling here in Nigeria and calling her by 2.12am is unexpected of Nigerians. She was gonna play her favourites on the stereo system when she remembered the warning the caretaker gave her the day before and the other woman that knocked on her door on Saturday morning, the caretaker's last child had told her that her name was 'Aunty Jessie'. It was no longer a surprise to her that people here attach much respect t
FAMILY GUTSTwo guys joined the danfo late and had been the centre of attention in the bus, they were dressed in the most fashionable way you anyone can in Lagos but were in this 'danfo' bus. Danfo is the popular name used for small buses that ply roads leading to suburbs in Lagos and some other cities around like Ibadan. The two guys cannot be older than 18 years and the practically looked like rich boys who just gained admission to universities for this was their manner of dressing. They spoke fluently in English from the back seat and did not bother whether anyone was disturbed by their hand gestures and body movements which was usually a form of discomfort in buses of that kind, it is a small bus and the way passengers are packed in the bus is not always convenient. Everyone in danfo bear the discomfort just to arrive at their destination and at times people have to endure this to reduce the cost of transport at times from far
MORRIS DOTUNIt's a Saturday and he was actually not supposed to be on duty but he had to help the other doctor lady who he had been crushing on since she joined the hospital. She had an emergency at home, her hometown in Gombe and perhaps this was the perfect chance to nail it with her. He checked the table watch and it was exactly 4.30am, quickly he stood up and walked out of the door gently switching on the bulb to lighten his path to the bathroom, He wanted to wash his face and teeth. This is Lagos, anyone who does not want to get to work late must leave home as early as possible, he hummed as he washed pouring out his mouth content on the sink roughly he almost gagged himself. Why would he be singing while brushing his teeth? As he was about to step out of the bathroom he remembered that he had not said his early morning prayers and had not read the Sunday school manual as was his daily routine, that was supposed to come first before anyt
WEAR SOMETHING!He had secretly wished the night before that he could just go back to school the next morning so he could get to see Vera but that was not possible. The strike started a week ago and he had stayed around the school environment because of her and now her parents had compelled her to return home. He couldn't leave her but they both had no option, he felt so sad and didn't even bother escorting her to bustop to avoid the boiling of emotions, immediately she left he packed his bags too and returned home. Even if now he resorts to go back to school - which of course his parents especially his mother will not allow - he wouldn't find her in school except if he could travel down to Ikeja, how the hell was he going to do that?He kept rolling from one side of the bed to the other, it was 6am and the alarm on the desk was ringing heavily, he stretched his left hand to the alarm and switched it off. He picked his diary and tur
WHO PLAYS MUSIC THIS EARLY?The ray of the early morning sun crept in through the window banes with the quiet breeze of the dry weather. She stretched her feet and soon sprung her whole body on the couch, an empty bottle of beer beside her head rolled off the couch down to the floor and with a clatter it broke in pieces. For the past two weeks drinking had formed the best of her, and she probably will not be coming out of this if things do not get better between her and the challenges she's been facing. Her name is Jessica known as Jessie. She was born in a town(now city) called Akure in the southern part of Nigeria and grew up there although her parents are from the North-Central. Jessie is the first child and only daughter of her parents with two siblings, her Father was a farmer cum state football coach and her mother used to be a government teacher before she retired.
