Holly watched as Silvio slowly picked at his food. Sometimes Silvio’s Father would do this. Anthony was actually named, Silvio Anthony Ferox the second. The firm had been set up by Anthony’s Father, who had also gone by the name Silvio. That was why Anthony went by his middle name rather than be known as junior. By the time that Silvio had come along, the founder who was also Silvio’s grandfat
Silvio was absorbed in the files on his Father’s desk. Not only was he studying them to ensure that the duty of care was complied with, he was also reading up on what kind of matters the firm dealt with. In the files he would come across work, clearly prepared by Holly and then a few small notes on the side in his Father’s handwriting, giving her instructions on things to follow up or thanking her on a job well done. It was Monday morning and Holly stepped out of her car and walked from the car park toward the office door. Ferox & Associate was written on the glass door and also on a sign above. She sorted through her keys and found the office one, then opened up the door and thus, Ferox & Associates, was open for business and a new week had begun.Only this week was different. Anthony had gone. Even though Holly was usually the first in to open up the office, everything seemed strangely quiet. It was most likely coming from her but the office seemed to be in mourning for Anthony as well. Holly flicked on the lights, turned on the office computer and then sorted through the facsimiles lay
Holly had wandered along the street for about an hour after leaving the hospital. She walked aimlessly as though she was in a daze. She later realised that she had been in shock. At the time though, she had no idea. The reality that Anthony had died only hit her when she returned to her car and opened the door. It hit her with a rapid force and suddenly she found herself collapsed inside the car where she burst into uncontrollable tears.Never in her life had she felt like this but she could not control her emotions, nor stem the flow of tears. A deep, guttural cry came out of her mouth from deep within and it surprised her but it had to escape from her body.“This is the st

The two professionals sat side by side on the plastic hospital seats. Holly had once again, placed the book on top of her handbag instead of the spare seat in order to make room for him. She had spread out before to keep people from sitting beside her. She had needed the space, to be in her own thoughts.“Right, Brief me.”Silvio spoke crisply toward her. He spoke as though he was the Barrister requesting information about a matter from the instructing Solicitor. It was enough for Holly to fall back into automatic pilot though and push down her emotions.
