- Open your window
WHAT?! -
- Open the damn window it's freezing out here
I quickly rushed to the window and opened it halfway, looking down to see Brandon standing underneath it with a cheesy smile. I rolled my eyes and opened the window all the way so he could enter. He had prepared the ladder that was normally kept in our storage room in the backyard.
"Seriously Brandon?! Sneaking up to a girl's room 2 in the morning?!" I whisper shouted at him while he stepped inside without any difficulty.
"You're my girl so there's no problem."
He said ever so casually and jumped on my bed immediately. Blood rushed to my cheeks hearing his words but I shrugged it away.
"I'm NOT your girl." I lied down next to him on the bed, facing the ceiling as he did the same.
"Did you say yes to Zayn?" He looked at me seriously while placing his hand under his head and the other one on his stomach.
"Yes to what?"
"I know he confessed his feelings for you Kara."
"How do you know that?" I narrowed my eyes at Brandon suspiciously.
"I called your mom when you didn't answer the phone and she told me."
Thanks a lot mom!
I mentally face-palmed myself.
"You didn't answer my question yet. What was your answer?" Brandon asked again, getting impatient a bit.
"Didn't my mom tell you that too?" I joked.
"Answer the damn question will you?!"
He raised his voice suddenly taking me by surprise, a warning that he's not in a mood to joke around. Every time he does that sends shivers down my spine. But most importantly...
It hurts...
I don't know why but it hurts so bad...
"I said I'll think about it and let him know once I confirm my feelings." I let out a squeak, my voice trembling as each word slipped out.
"Good. I was a bit worried that you might make some stupid decision and reg-"
"Don't talk like that to me." I cut him off harshly.
"What?" Brandon was confused.
I sat up straight on the mattress while the guy on it who was still confused as to what was wrong with me suddenly, do the same.
"Don't talk like I'm the most stupid person on Earth and don't raise your voice at me. I hate it." My voice was stern and cold, just the way I wanted it to be.
"Kara I-I... I'm sorry..." Brandon's head hung low, muttering faintly enough for me to hear. "I just become so protective over you 'cause apart from dad, you're the only one I have. You know that."
Oh gosh I feel so bad now. Was I overreacting?
"Yeah I know. I'm sorry I overreacted." I patted his back and he engulfed me into a bear hug.
"Oh and aren't you gonna visit her? It's her birthday soon." I asked, suddenly getting remembered and pulling out of the hug.
"Yeah I will. Would you like to come with me?"
"You go first. It's been so long since you last visited and I'm sure you'd like some alone time. I'll join you after some hours." I squeezed his hand that was holding mine since I don't know when.
"Thanks for being so understanding Kara. I'm so lucky to have you." Brandon smiled at me. It was not a smirk or a funny grin but a genuine smile that was filled with emotions. I felt my heart melt into a puddle seeing that.
He becomes so emotional whenever we're talking about her. I'm sure he's missing her so much.
I glanced at the clock on the wall that was behind the headboard of my bed and saw that it was almost three in the morning.
"Brandon it's late. Or early I don't know. You should head back." I reminded my best friend who was now playing with my fingers.
"Nooooo I wanna stay."
"Your dad will freak out idiot! Plus, I'm not gonna let you sleep on my bed and there were some stuff in the guest room so tht's not an option."
"I'll leave my dad a text and he'll understand. As for the bed, I'll just sleep on you."
Okay now that just sounded so so wrong.
Brandon suddenly wrapped his arms around my waist tightly, resting his head on my chest. My heart started to race immediately and I was so sure I was blushing hard.
"You should go to a doctor. Your heartbeat is increasing." The boy hugging me said with a cute childlike voice. He put his weight on me, making me fall on the mattress on my back.
"Brandon let me go. You're suffocating me."
I lied.
Making him let go was the last thing I wanted to do at the moment.
Wow Kara you're even lying now? What the hell happened to you?!
Brandon didn't move an inch, instead he tightened his grip on me. I knew there was nothing I could do to get him off me so I gave up trying. Staring at the ceiling and thinking about various things crossing my mind I stroked Brandon's hair unconsciously. I came to reality as the boy shifted a bit, hugging me more and it was then I realized my hands we in his hair. I quickly removed them.
"Don't stop. It feels good."
He said and I could feel his breath on my tummy that was covered by the top I was wearing. I blushed. Again.
Smiling to myself my hands went back to his hair and stroked it gently as I closed my eyes. I think I fell asleep while doing that.
"You ready?" Brandon asked from the other side of the door of my bedroom, knocking softly. I opened it and faced him with a worried expression. I wasn't sure if I could handle it coolly. No matter how many times I told myself that it was for the best, my mind wasn't ready to accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to see my friend for years."I am so gonna cry." I said.
"Until I got to know that I'd have to leave the country forat leasttwo years for the training.""T-two years?"I stuttered as I kept my fork down on the plate slowly. Zayn gave a hum in agreement
"This topic will be a bit hard for you to understand so tell me when you get to that." Brandon pointed his finger to a lesson written neatly in his note book that I was flipping through."Oh alright."I smiled and closed the book, turning to leave
The principal's office made an announcement later that day asking me to come there where the principal, Mrs. McMillan declared a one week suspension for me. She said that she was going easy on me as I hadn't been in trouble before to which I simply nodded. Brandon went nuts when I told him the whole thing but it was nothing compared to my mom's screaming over the phone."What in the world were you thinking Kara?! Fighting? In school??"
It was a silent ride back home. We didn't talk much and let the music of the radio fill the air to avoid any awkwardness or tension between us. We arrived at my house and I got off the car, Brandon doing the same to drop me off at my doorstep. I faced him with a nervous smile after unlocking the door for me to go inside."So I'm gonna go inside." I said nervously, not knowing if it was the right thing to say.
Brandon led me into a little high ground of the forest where there was an open space so we could see the night sky clearly. We sat down on the grass and I tucked my knees close to my chest. Taking off the coat I was wearing, I wrapped it around my legs because my skirt was a short one."The sky is really beautiful isn't it?" Brandon said dreamily staring at the sky.
