Chapter 8: Graduation Day

Sakura’s POV

The next day when we are having our breakfast, Seiya and his dad are not exchanging conversations. They did not talk it out yet. Seiya’s mom sat beside me.

After eating breakfast, I helped Seiya’s mom washed the dishes.

“Auntie, is Seiya and his dad still not ok? They are quite the whole breakfast,"

“Yes, but I already talked to Kenji. They will be ok soon,"

“Ok. Maybe I should talk to Seiya,"

"That's a good idea, Sakura. Please talk to him"

“Ok”

When I’m done helping Seiya’s mom washed the dishes, I went to Seiya’s room to talk to him. I knocked.

"Come in,"

“Seiya?”

“What?”

“Can we talk?”

"We are now talking,"

"Like a serious talk,"

“What is it about?”

“You still did not talk to your dad. Am I right?”

"What's the point? He doesn't understand,"

“He will Seiya. Just talk to your dad. I know he will understand”

"Stop ordering me Sakura,"

"You're so rude, Seiya. He's your dad. He will understand. You need to talk it out. I know he is strict, but it's not right for a parent to decide about their children's future because they need to consider their opinions too. You just have to talk to your dad, sincerely. I know he will understand. Ok, that's all, I'm going now to my room,"

Fast forward, and it's already evening. I went down, and I saw Seiya’s mom peeping over something, so I went to her.

"What are you doing here, auntie?"

“Shh! Seiya and Kenji are talking,"

"Let me see,"

I saw them talking. I hope Seiya's dad will understand.

Seiya’s POV

I kept thinking about Sakura said to me. I decided to talk to my dad. Sakura ones again ordered me. There's something in her that she made me follow her.

I went to the living room, and I saw him seating on the sofa.

“Dad”

“What is it?”

"I want to be a doctor, and I don't like to study engineering at Global University. I will still study at Sanford University. I'm sure of my decision,"

"Ok, if that's what you want. I will support you,"

"Really. Thank you, dad,"

"Ok. I realized that it's not good that I will control your life. It's wrong. I need to consider my son's opinion too. You better become a successful doctor, ok? I know you can do it because you are smart. Make me the proudest dad Seiya,"

"I will, dad. Thank you for understanding," I said, and we hugged.

I’m happy that dad understands me and my decision.

Sakura was right. Dad will understand me if I will just talk to him sincerely.

The next day, I bought something for Sakura, and it's a sketch pad because she is good at drawing. I know because she is the champion in a drawing contest at our university. I went to her room and gave her my thank you gift.

“Sakura?”

"What is it, Seiya?”

“Here”

“What’s this?”

"It's a thank you gift. Thank you yesterday. Dad and I talked it out, and he understands me and my decision," I said and had a poker face.

"Thank you. What did I tell you? I'm glad that you talked it out,"

"I will be going to my room now,"

“Ok”

Sakura’s POV

Seiya gave me a thank you gift. I wonder what it is. When Seiya handed me this, he has a poker face. He’s not so arrogant after all. He has a good side in him.

I tear the wrapper, and I'm surprised because it's a sketchbook. I love to draw and come to think of it. My sketch pad is almost full of my drawings. I need to buy one, but Seiya bought it already.

I know he knows that I love to draw because I was the champion in a drawing contest.

Thank you, Seiya. I will use it and treasure it. It's the first time that you gave me something.

Narrator’s POV

Two months had passed, and it's their graduation day today.

When Sakura woke up, she got ready quickly. When she is done getting ready, she went out of her room. Seiya also went out. They both went downstairs and ate breakfast.

"Today is the day,"

"You will be graduating,"

“I think I might cry”

"Let's go,"

They went to university together. When they got there, they went to the auditorium and look for their seat. Sakura is seated far from Seiya because the seating arrangement is from class A-F. Seiya is in class-A while Sakura is in class-D.

The graduation starts with the principal giving a speech followed by Seiya because he is the valedictorian this year. Sakura is included in the Dean's list.

When Seiya is giving a speech, Sakura has her eyes focused on Seiya. It’s like a dejavu to her. It's like when she was in freshmen year, and he started admiring Seiya. She liked Seiya for five years now.

When the graduation ceremony is finished, they went out of the auditorium. Lots of students congratulated Seiya. He is famous, you know.

“Seiya, come here. Let's take a photo together," Seiya’s mom said.

“Ok”

"Say cheese,"

After that, they went home and celebrate.
