"Loser, watch where you are going!" a voice yelled.
I crashed into a body so hard I almost ricocheted to another planet. For some seconds, I was disconcerted.
The dissonance of noisy chitchat in the cafeteria brought me back to reality. My eyes roved around each table, It was packed with people from different cliques, extending their voices to be heard above the din.
The food that sat on the table in front of each student was secondary to the information that was exchanged here. Then, I noticed Candy and her clones pressed together at their 'usual' table gossiping.
I rolled my eyes, sighing for the umpteenth time, as well as, attempted getting up, only to drill into something yet again. It was hard, as well as bony and the owner yelped.
"Can't you just watch it!"
''And that will leave a beautiful lump,'' A sultry voice murmured.
My head was down all along, staring at my bitten and broken nails. I brought it up to see the two most beautiful people I had ever seen in my life.
The boy had curly hair with the most beautiful green eyes whilst the girl, a gorgeous blonde, with bright blue eyes, unlike my dull brown ones.
They donned on varsity with the words Hidden Academy imprinted on the back in large block letters.
What do they want at East Side Academy? I mused.
Hidden Academy, was one of the most prestigious schools in New York. It was known for its quality of education as well as discipline. Also, they rivalled us in sports.
I scrambled to my feet, ready to apologize for my clumsiness so they could get going since I didn't want to witness one of their argument.
"Sutton!" Blondie and Curly exclaimed at the same time. Startled, I lurched at the abruptness.
"Sutton," Blondie repeated yet again. Then went ahead to hug me with care as if I was a porcelain doll.
Squinting my eyes, I scanned the cafeteria, searching for whom they referred to.
My gaze landed on a red-haired girl, who waved at us, grinning cheerfully. She also donned on the same clothes as Curly and Blondie.
The red-haired girl faltered when she caught my gaze on her. Her gaze went round, then she blinked once, twice before stepping to where we stood and held my hands.
"Sutton... " She mumbled as she clasped my stiff hands in her warm ones.
She said that name again. Who the hell was Sutton? I wanted to cry out, however, Curly beat me to it.
''Me?'' I queried back, as well as browsed the cafeteria for the umpteenth time to be sure.
"Who else? How many Sutton Clearwaters do we have in Hidden Academy?" Blondie pretended to count her perfectly manicured fingers donned with nude nail polish. "Just one. So stop being a drama queen. It is getting way too old." She drawled.
''I'm sorry you just got the wrong person. I look a lot like so many people in this world.'' I blabbed, turning my face away from their scrutiny as a blush crept up on it due to my loosed tongue. " And my name is Avasa. Avasa Ryan, not Sutton Clearwaters."
I loathed being stared at not because I was cool, beautiful or anything. In fact, it was the opposite of the aforementioned words. I disliked it because it made me conscious of how I looked.
Besides, that was Candy area of speciality- being the centre of attention and I wasn't her.
Candy and her clones sauntered to where we were, also attempted to be part of the conversation. Her clones were four girls that did everything like her- From the kind of hairdo they sport on weekly, the artificial blonde hair in place of their natural ones and their phoney accent as they strived to not only be like her but also to speak like her.
Even down to their clothing. All East Side Academy girls had their red checkered skirt on their knees whereas theirs had been trimmed to be mid-thigh. They donned on pink blazers in place of wine-coloured ones on us. Then had on a wedge in place of the ballet flat recommended.
Perhaps, she broke most of the rules because she was one of the founder great-granddaughters.
"Yeah, her name is Avasa, not Sutton." Candy chirped in, then smiled at me sweetly as if we had been friends for ages.
She sneered as her gaze trailed to the other blonde. Candy detested anyone from Hidden Academy. She and her teammates had lost to them twice in the Regional Cheerleading Competition and had vowed to get the title back from them.
I gave her a wary look; Like who the hell asked for your opinion anyway?
Candy, however, flicked her fake blonde hair, sport on a fake plastic smile with her fake lips showing off her fake pearly white teeth.
Wow!
I couldn't believe I was that good at rhymes since I had always come out with a D in it."No one asked you to butt in." The other blonde pointed out. She sized her up and twisted her lips into a half-smile.
"This is my domain. I say and do as I wish." Candy sassed back. She raised her chin, puffed out her chest and rested her hands on her hips. "She is too cool for the name Sutton anyway. Simply call her Fugly Wren Avasa." She giggled at the names she came up with as if it sounded funny.
This had gone too far, I was absolutely sick of Candy and all her repulsiveness.
I happened to be out of Candy's league since none of my parents was wealthy, compared to hers. I was also on one of the lowest ranking clique in school- Nerd, compared to hers.
I was on a scholarship since my mom couldn't afford the money being paid here, yet we were still in the same school. Most times, I saw her as a monster rather than a human.
Since then, every time her face flashed into view, all I felt was rage and wished to smash her silicon face so it would not be repairable anymore. However, I couldn't since I didn't want to land myself in trouble of being in suspension for two weeks or expulsion.
Candy didn't hide her emotions of hate towards me- She made it known to everyone at East Side Academy, which made me had few to no friends at all since they didn't want to get on the bad side of Queen Bitch. They all avoided me as if I were a plague.
Like I was being propelled by a mysterious force, for what happened next was unlike me. I snapped as all the feelings I had towards her for making my life a living hell surged out. I didn't care if everyone was watching me or not. In fact, I couldn't suppress the emotion any longer.
I balled my hands into a fist, holding them at my side, "Thank you so much Candice Cobbler. Unlike your name which means shoe mender, my name is Avasa Ryan. I don't have a first name such as Fugly or a middle name like Wren. I'm sick of what you and your group of wannabes think of me. I don't even care anymore. What is there to brag about?'' My nostrils flared as I continued without waiting for an answer because I didn't need one and I was at the point of no return.
"OK let me guess, you attend East Side Academy, I also do the same. You wear the same uniform as me, you're a boarder and I'm also a boarder. So tell me now, why the heck have you been breathing down my neck?" I asked again, feeling my body trembled with outrage.
Candy's jaw went slacked and snapped it close as soon as she opened it. Her face hardened, and for a few seconds, I thought she was going to pummel my face as she tightened her hand into a fist. People never talk back at her, ever.
My gaze widened as she marched away with her clones, not glancing back for once. I exhaled slowly as I felt my throat tightening- I had ceased my breath whilst anticipating Candy's reaction.
I twirled around as the sound of clapping permeated into my mind.
All the Cliques in school at the cafeteria applauded me. I couldn't imagine I had just lost my temper over a minor issue.
"Wow, that went well. I was thinking I had to put the bitch in her place myself. I'm glad you did." Blonde beamed, whilst smoothening the nonexistence creased on the skirt.
I had forgotten that I was not alone because of my exchange with Candy. I stared the three kids from the other school down, then went on my way.
"That was actually rude, Sutton!" a voice hollered which I guessed was Curly's.
"You haven't seen rude, yet," I mumbled. I swivelled, extending my middle finger to them. I wished I didn't veer around because the expression on their faces was kind of amusing.
On a normal day, I could have burst out laughing, however, it wasn't so I trekked to where I parked my beat-up mustang truck instead. I massaged my temple as I slid in.
"Why does my life have to be filled with so much drama?" I questioned myself whilst banging my head on the steering wheel. With a sigh, I drove out of the lot.
SOPHIA"How can two people, look so much alike plus not be related, I don't still get it!" Harry exclaimed. His brows creased and he twisted his mouth whilst pacing up and down which drew the attention of the kids present.I met his bewildered gaze, then he ceased pacing. His brows, nonetheless furrowed as he made a swipe at one curly lock going to the side of his forehead. We were at East-Side Academy cafeteria, still, at the spot, Avasa had left us. I stepped away from where Harry and Taylor stood as I pondered what could be going on.If she wasn't Sutton, then who was she?Two people can't look so much alike except they were identical twins or related as Harry had implied, right?Sighing, I twisted the black ring with a silver stone on my finger out of habit. My phone went off signalling an incoming message. Unlocking,
