LOGINStepping inside, Rex took a breath.
This isn’t creepy at all he thought to himself. A door that opens by itself with someone inside who has been waiting for me.
As Rex made it to what must have been the entertaining area, he noticed there was 2 people sitting on the couch in front of the fire.
Hearing the footsteps from behind them approaching, the two people turned around to face him.
Walking towards the couch the voice he heard from the door called out once more, “take a seat and I will be with you shortly.”
Taking the advice from the strange creepy voice, Rex walked around the couch and sat down on the end.
Sitting next to him was a gigantic man, almost as large as the one he had seen while still in Oak, when his grandmother had someone open the door for her. I’m sure Markus said this person was supposed to be my ages, he is huge! Rex thought to himself when he saw his size.
Shortly after Rex sat down, the man stood up, bowed at the neck and said to him while putting his huge hand on his chest “Me Charr’is, you be who?”
“My name is Rex, glad to meet you.” He replied, jumping up extending his hand to be shaken.
Once he saw Rex’s hand extend towards him, Charr’is took one look at it, extended his own hand palm upwards and said, “I bring no weapons like you, look.”
Seeing this made Rex give out a small chuckle which made Charr’is tilt his head to the side in confusion, he doesn’t understand that I’m trying to shake his hand. “Well, where I am from, when you greet someone, you shake each others hand.”
When Charr’is heard this, he shrugged his shoulders, grabbed Rex’s hand and shook it. The force of that shake rattled Rex’s brain in his skull.
“Not quite what I had in mind, but that’s pretty close” Rex said back rubbing his temples and readjusting his clothes, it was like he was in an earthquake.
Seeing how uncomfortable Rex had been from his shaking Charr’is said, “Me sorry, no want hurt new friend Rex.”
“It’s no problem, I should have known someone of your size would have done that.” Rex replied trying to comfort Charr’is.
“Good good, me Bohl, from Rangar mountains, means we strong.” He said smiling at Rex.
“I’m human, well I think I am, I come from Oak.” Rex replied trying to mimic what Charr’is had said.
Smiling at Rex, Charr’is tilted his head and sat down. Next to stand was a girl who was sitting up the far end of the couch. When she stood up, Rex could tell she had a small frame, and even thought they were inside she wore a full cloak with the hood up, but could see some of her white hair came down beside her face.
“Lizzetta Strix, pleasure to meet you.” She said, extending her hand to Rex.
“Nice to meet you” Rex replied shaking her hand “so does anyone know who this person is that we are here to see?”
Charr’is shrugged his shoulders and said, “father told me come here, speak to witch woman and she will tell me what I need do to become strong.”
Lizzetta smiled hearing what he said and said quietly, “Father told me that she can see and interpret the flow of ones fate. Knowing what your fate is allows you to stay on the right path.”
That’s strange that they are happy with that Rex thought, he didn’t want someone telling him what he was supposed to do or where he was supposed to be, he wanted to be able to decide for himself.
Shortly after hearing that a door opened and a voice came from through the open door.
“Rex Magnus, come in now.”
Once Lizzetta and Charr’is heard Rex’s name they both looked at each other with their mouths openin shock, they knew that their emperor’s surname matched his, he must be the lost son!
Nodding and smiling at the others Rex walked into the room. The moment he walked in the door shut behind him. “Please take a seat.”
Sitting down at the chair in front of him Rex looked across the table. Sitting in front of him was a woman who looked no more than 25 years old, that’s odd she is supposed to be really old from the stories Rex was told. The only odd thing about the woman was her eyes, they were completely white, almost like she was blind. She has also had a tattoo on her forehead looked kind of looked like an eye.
Seeing the quizzing look on Rex’s face the woman smiled at him and said, “yes Rex, I am blind. But I see more than you think, please give me your hand.”
Shocked she seemed to be able to see Rex staring he looked down, wiped the sweat off his palm and put his hand down in front of the woman.
“I can see many things without even touching someone, but it seems you are different from everyone else. From the moment those other two young ones walked in, I was able to see small patches of their fates, but nothing from you.” She said taking his hand and raising an eyebrow at Rex.
The instant she took his hand an intense heat came from his fingers and the Fate Seer immediately withdrew her hand from his.
“It seems you have an aggressive protector” she exclaimed looking at her hand, she had small blisters appear where she had touched Rex.
“I didn’t do that” Rex said, “Well I don’t think I did” he said looking at his hand. Was me or Fafnir he thought.
“I should have been more careful knowing you are a Magnus, that is my mistake young prince, we definitely should have used a different approach, in face the same approach I needed to take with your father quite a few years ago.” She said back smiling. She reached the cabinet behind her and pulled out two needles with strange symbols on the sides. “with your permission and with these needles I am able to join you in your mind bend, and speak with your protector. It seems like with your father that being is the conduit to your power, but also blocks others from seeing the flow of your fate.”
“So without him, I have no power.” Rex asked, what was supposed to be getting answers was getting riddles.
“Yes, and no. We will know more once we all speak together, may I proceed? I am quite interested to know who can manifest their will into this world without your consent.” She said holding up the needles.
“Yes, I consent.” Rex replied, getting a little nervous at the thought of having to put those needles into himself somewhere, they were definitely not small!
“They only need to pierce your skin slightly, just behind the back of your head” she said, pointing to the spot where the base of his skull and his neck started.
“Ok.” Rex added tilting his head forwards, he was breathing quite heavily now.
Inserting the needle quickly and carefully into the back of Rex’s neck, Rex looked up straight after and shrugged at her, “wasn’t that bad.”
Smiling back, the Seer sat down in her seat and inserted the needle into her own neck in the same spot and said softly, “Ark eternum reflectus Magnus.”
Looking at the Seer, Rex saw her eyes turn black and then his vision disappeared. Shortly after his vision returned, he stood up, looked around noticing this was the same place he had spoken with Fafnir at the camp site.
‘Welcome back youngling, I see you’ve brought a guest.’ Boomed Fafnir out of the darkness.
“Yes, she wants to speak with us” Rex called back, before looking around, where was she? He thought.
“I am here prince” she said from behind him.
Turning around he saw the Seer, but she looked pale compared to him, almost like a projection.
“The reason why I look like this is because technically, I don’t belong here, this is your space shared with your soul bound.” She said watching Rex look at her.
‘Yes Seer, you don’t belong here’ boomed Fafnir ‘the youngling should be more careful’ he scolded.
As Rex ran his hand through his hair, red smoke appeared from in front of them. Slowly emerging from the smoke was a huge black head, followed by this body and lastly tail came through and tucked himself around in front of them, this was where the black scales came from, covering his whole body, Fafnir was a black dragon! Seeing his whole form was a shock to Rex, this dragon was incredible.
Opening his golden eyes and looking at them both he said.
‘Tell me what you wanted from us Seer’
Once the Seer saw Fafnir, she dropped to her knees, bowed her head and said, “Apologies your magnificence, I didn’t not wish to intrude recklessly like I tried before and wanted to see if the being sharing this body was benevolent or malevolent, I was not aware that the being that shared his body and soul was the king of dragons, Fafnir himself”
Grinning at her, Fafnir said, ‘Well now you know.’
“So the reason the boy has no flow of fate, is because you prevent him from entering the river of fate to begin with” the Seer asked. ”May I ask why?”
‘We have a lot of work to do and wanted nothing to stop us, that is all you need to know.’
‘NOW BEGONE!’ he boomed.
Instantly after Fafnir said that Rex’s vision went black and when he blinked a few times the inside of the Seer’s room came back into view.
“With the immense power you will learn to command, you will either become a force for good or be the destruction of us all” the Seer said eyeing Rex up and down, “Which one remains to be seen.”
“How did you….” Nessa trailed off. Rex and Nessa knew what had happened to Pilk and were astonished she was here and in good shape.“Survive after you snapped my neck?” Pilk finished Nessa’s sentence with an evil grin, “Trade secret, may even tell you before I repay the favour back to you.”“Once more, leave us the boy and that girl and you two can leave” said one of the men, talking to Lizz and Charr.“You want him, must go past me” said Charr tapping his axe on his shoulder with a grin.Lizz added in shortly after, “And me too.”Rex looked at his friends and gave them a smile and respectful head nod at their statements, he couldn’t be happier that his friends were willing to fight with him until the end.“W
“Who are you and why would you want to help us?” Lizz asked eyeing her suspiciously.“My name is Nessa. I’ve been asking myself the same question” Nessa said with a smirk. That comment confused Lizz and Charr a little.“Do you know Rex?” Lizz asked.“Yes I do” Nessa replied nodding. When she said that she noticed Lizz frown a little. Was this girl his lover? She thought to herself, she reacted to her intrusion like Nessa would defending him if he was hers, another question that needed answering. She then realised that she was regarding Rex as hers, silly thoughts about him again she thought. “What or who has him unable to fight his way out? I know he is more than capable of taking on those 3 plus us and still probably win.”“How you know how Rex fight?” Charr asked stepping cl
“What the bloody hell does that mean?” Nessa asked. It was way too early in the morning for her riddles.“Typical good-mannered conversation” Al’ik said with a smirk, “I believe it means you are to help someone change, how would I know? Its your fate, not mine. I’m a healer, not a fortune teller.”“Then how did you see my fate?” Nessa asked.“I’m not sure, that’s why I debated as to tell you or not. It seemed quite serious to me, so I decided I would pass it on. It is now for you to decode what it is supposed to mean.” Al’ik replied, “Now eat this and you are good enough to be on your way.”Nessa nodded, sat down and took the food she was given. She hated riddles and was never good at them so she had no idea what, “show an outwards sign of an inwa
“Uurgh” was the only sound Rex could muster as he forced his eyes open. He had an intense headache from being hit on the head and was quite sure that wet feeling behind his head was blood. He could hear creaking noises before his eyes started to focus again, I am moving, he could feel the jolts. Blinking a few times to help clear his vision he sat his head up, he felt his hands and feet were bound tightly so he could not get up by himself. He could see 2 people to his front sitting facing forward and looking to his sides he saw wooden upright boards, he must have been in the back of a wagon.“Morning sunshine” came a voice from his feet area. Turning his head a little too quickly Rex felt his vision blur a little once more, don’t do that again he said to himself. Sitting at his feet was the woman from the vegetable stall. She was watching him with an evil smile on his face. She hopped up grabbed Rex’s shoulders and propped him up
Rex jumped up the moment the memories matched about who the person was. He quickly half dried himself, threw on some of the clothes that were put out for him and went in the direction he saw the woman walking. Not having a clear heading, he wandered aimlessly for a while looking into the faces of the maids he saw. Rounding a corner, he ran into Stug who was giving out orders to a man wearing a cloak, getting the man moving he looked back at Rex, eyed him up and down and saw him still half wet and asked hurriedly, “Is everything ok prince?”“Yes, one of the people you’re looking for is here! I saw her walk past my room” Rex said.“Really! They have the nerve to try and sneak back in, I will sort th
Once the man had burst out of the keep he came to a halt in front of the 3 companions, still ranting about dealing out the death penalty for the murder of his brother.“Who the f**k are you 3?” he yelled in their faces. They could see the vein popping from his neck, Lizz thought they were going to die.“These are the 3 accused of Dreg’s murder” replied a guard who was near them. This made the red-faced man leer at them, if looks could kill they would have all died by now.“I hereby sentence you 3 to death!!” he screamed pointing at them.
