LOGINOnce Rex was upstairs he changed into his usual attire, sat in his chair and flicked on the tv.
"I'm off to the shops" Iris said, poking her head into the door.
"Ok gran, please be careful, I'll be here watching a movie and relaxing" Rex replied trying to add a believable smile.
No way was he planning on staying, he was going to follow her to find out what she is hiding.
Once Iris had walked out the door and started down the street, Rex was straight up, and straight out the window.
"If I'm going to follow her, might as well do it like a ninja" he said with a grin.
Grabbing onto the drain pipe that ran next to his window, Rex shimmied down, making sure to jump the last few feet.
Landing on both feet, he threw his arms up "And the dismount is a 10!" He chuckled imitating a cheering crowd.
Time to catch up to Iris.
Rex jogged up the street and peeled around the corner expecting her to be just in front of him.
"How the hell!!??" Rex exclaimed when in fact Iris was already 2 blocks ahead of him. It seemed being 65 years old didn't stop her from moving incredibly quickly. Rex had to sprint for another 2 blocks to get close.
Once he could maintain a good distance, which still seemed to be quite a brisk walking speed mind you, he watched her pass the main shops and head around a corner into an alley behind them. Stopping at an odd looking door.
Rex stopped just around the corner and pretended to be looking at his phone.
Iris knocked 3 times, sounded like a shutter opened, then a grunt sound came from inside.
She then said something that Rex couldn't hear even while he was straining his ears. All of a sudden the door opened.
Wow that is one massive hand attached to the door handle he exclaimed being quite in shock, that's easily 3 times the size of mine he thought looking at his own.
What is Iris up to, it just doesn't add up...
After Rex had waited for over an hour on the corner, strange things ran through his mind, who is his grandmother really? Who has a hand that big? Who has a chat at that hour of the morning wearing an outfit like that?
Hour and a half ticked by, still no Iris, he was really starting to worry now, thinking he should call the police.
He had just unlocked his phone when it rang, "what in the world!!??" In big letters was the name HOME with her picture calling him.
Shaking a little answering he said "hello?" "Hello Rex, I'm at home dear, where have you gone?" Well thank god it's not a ransom call from a big handed man he thought.
"I just ducked out for a minute, be there soon" he said. How in the world did she get back without him noticing? I was here the whole time he thought.
His grandmother was getting stranger everyday. How could she walk so fast? Who was the man with big hands? How did she get past me? Once again raising a ton of questions he wanted answers for.
Running home Rex opened the door, went into the kitchen and sure enough, here was Iris making herself a cup of coffee. "How was your walk dear?" She asked with a smile.
"Gran, be serious, what is going on?" He demanded.
"You're acting strange again" Iris said, "do you need to see the doctor?"
"Please don't lie to me anymore, I need to know, who was the man with the giant hands who opened the door, where did you go and how did you get past me?"
Sitting down with a huff, Iris looked quite impressed, "How did you see where I went? I used a something special I've had for years to cloak myself and yet you still saw where I went, that's impossible"
"Well how did I know about the door, the man with the giant hand??" He replied
"Well it seems we have a lot to talk about earlier than expected then" She said.
"Close your mouth dear, it's quite a bad sight" Iris chuckled.
Rex then realised he had his mouth gaping open in shock of her words.
"What are you saying? You said you were expecting to talk to me about something?" He said regaining some composure.
"Of course dear, but didn't anticipate it it so soon, it's quite the shock" Iris said raising one eyebrow.
"Could you be more cryptic than that?" Rex said exasperated.
"If you say so, how about this, 'forget everything you thought you knew, nothing is as it seems'" Iris said in a imitation serious voice.
The look on Rex's face said that it had worked, all he could do was slap his forehead with his palm.
“How did you….” Nessa trailed off. Rex and Nessa knew what had happened to Pilk and were astonished she was here and in good shape.“Survive after you snapped my neck?” Pilk finished Nessa’s sentence with an evil grin, “Trade secret, may even tell you before I repay the favour back to you.”“Once more, leave us the boy and that girl and you two can leave” said one of the men, talking to Lizz and Charr.“You want him, must go past me” said Charr tapping his axe on his shoulder with a grin.Lizz added in shortly after, “And me too.”Rex looked at his friends and gave them a smile and respectful head nod at their statements, he couldn’t be happier that his friends were willing to fight with him until the end.“W
“Who are you and why would you want to help us?” Lizz asked eyeing her suspiciously.“My name is Nessa. I’ve been asking myself the same question” Nessa said with a smirk. That comment confused Lizz and Charr a little.“Do you know Rex?” Lizz asked.“Yes I do” Nessa replied nodding. When she said that she noticed Lizz frown a little. Was this girl his lover? She thought to herself, she reacted to her intrusion like Nessa would defending him if he was hers, another question that needed answering. She then realised that she was regarding Rex as hers, silly thoughts about him again she thought. “What or who has him unable to fight his way out? I know he is more than capable of taking on those 3 plus us and still probably win.”“How you know how Rex fight?” Charr asked stepping cl
“What the bloody hell does that mean?” Nessa asked. It was way too early in the morning for her riddles.“Typical good-mannered conversation” Al’ik said with a smirk, “I believe it means you are to help someone change, how would I know? Its your fate, not mine. I’m a healer, not a fortune teller.”“Then how did you see my fate?” Nessa asked.“I’m not sure, that’s why I debated as to tell you or not. It seemed quite serious to me, so I decided I would pass it on. It is now for you to decode what it is supposed to mean.” Al’ik replied, “Now eat this and you are good enough to be on your way.”Nessa nodded, sat down and took the food she was given. She hated riddles and was never good at them so she had no idea what, “show an outwards sign of an inwa
“Uurgh” was the only sound Rex could muster as he forced his eyes open. He had an intense headache from being hit on the head and was quite sure that wet feeling behind his head was blood. He could hear creaking noises before his eyes started to focus again, I am moving, he could feel the jolts. Blinking a few times to help clear his vision he sat his head up, he felt his hands and feet were bound tightly so he could not get up by himself. He could see 2 people to his front sitting facing forward and looking to his sides he saw wooden upright boards, he must have been in the back of a wagon.“Morning sunshine” came a voice from his feet area. Turning his head a little too quickly Rex felt his vision blur a little once more, don’t do that again he said to himself. Sitting at his feet was the woman from the vegetable stall. She was watching him with an evil smile on his face. She hopped up grabbed Rex’s shoulders and propped him up
Rex jumped up the moment the memories matched about who the person was. He quickly half dried himself, threw on some of the clothes that were put out for him and went in the direction he saw the woman walking. Not having a clear heading, he wandered aimlessly for a while looking into the faces of the maids he saw. Rounding a corner, he ran into Stug who was giving out orders to a man wearing a cloak, getting the man moving he looked back at Rex, eyed him up and down and saw him still half wet and asked hurriedly, “Is everything ok prince?”“Yes, one of the people you’re looking for is here! I saw her walk past my room” Rex said.“Really! They have the nerve to try and sneak back in, I will sort th
Once the man had burst out of the keep he came to a halt in front of the 3 companions, still ranting about dealing out the death penalty for the murder of his brother.“Who the f**k are you 3?” he yelled in their faces. They could see the vein popping from his neck, Lizz thought they were going to die.“These are the 3 accused of Dreg’s murder” replied a guard who was near them. This made the red-faced man leer at them, if looks could kill they would have all died by now.“I hereby sentence you 3 to death!!” he screamed pointing at them.
