"Is that you Rex?" Iris called rounding the corner to the dining room at the same time Rex entered. "Oh my god what happened to you?" She said getting a look at him covered in dirt with ripped clothes.

"Did those boys beat you up again? I might have to talk to their mothers" she said angrily.

"No gran it wasn't that, my front tyre on my bike blew and threw me off over the handle bars, I'm ok except for a few cuts and scrapes, my clothes seem to be the in the worst condition" Rex said trying to shoo his grandmother off him.

"What cuts and scrapes?" She said after turning him around and looking him up and down, "there are none"

"What do you mean? My knees and elbows areee...Huh??" He cut himself off mid sentence, after twisting and turning his arms and legs around, there was nothing to show what damage he had sustained from his bike accident.

"Well ok then, if you don't want to tell me you got beaten up again, you don't have to lie to me. So unless you can heal yourself very quickly, which mind you is impossible to do by yourself, without someone who knows that type of magic, you aren't telling me the truth." Iris said, getting quite angry.

"I know what happened, I don't know what to tell you, I've told you the truth, if you don't believe me, then fine, don't!" He yelled back, getting quite irritated himself before storming off upstairs to get changed.

I know what happened he muttered to himself while he changed his outfit. Well I may as well fix my bike to find out what caused all this drama he thought to himself jumping up and heading back out into the garage.

He passed through the dining room without seeing Iris at all, passing the table he noticed a note.

'Rex,

Have headed out for a stroll, be home tonight.

Ps Don't drink all the juice.

Iris'

Well a house without Iris meant he could play his music while fixing his bike, without her complaints of 'its too loud' or 'I don't like that type of music.' Starting up his phone speaker and he flipped his bike to get a better look at what had caused the damage.

He peeled the tyre and tube off, grabbed a pair of pliers and began attempting to extract the steel coin shaped object from his rim.

"Wow this thing is in there!" He exclaimed when it took him a whole 5 minutes of twisting and pulling to get it out. Taking it in his palm he brought it closer to his face, it looked like a sharpened coin, no larger than an inch in diameter, with some strange symbols he had never seen before. He went to flip the coin over, dropping it onto the concrete with a *Ting* sound.

"Holy s**t!" He cursed, just dropping the coin had chipped the concrete!! This coin was incredible. Popping the coin into his pocket, he replaced his destroyed rim, fixed his tube and tyre and set his bike back up, good as new.

Walking back upstairs to his room, he sat in his chair looking quite closely at the coin trying to figure it out, he started to daydream about its origins, closed his eyes and then it wasn't long before he fell asleep from pure exhaustion.

Waking up still in his chair, he groaned, threw in some fresh clothes and headed downstairs, greeting Iris as usual, she replied with her usual chirpy greeting. Today he would spend some time with Iris, maybe that's why she was unhappy with him he said to himself, regretting not spending time with her as much as he usually did. Even though he was with Iris, one person kept floating into his mind.

Vanessa.

Monday rolled around and Rex had a spring in his step, he did his usual morning and bounced off on his bike to school.

Once entering the school he threw his bike down and headed straight for the main building, hoping to catch Vanessa coming in. Waiting out the front until class bell sounded, he thought maybe she was already inside, shrugging he went into his first class.

No surprise as lunch came closer, it became hard for Rex to focus on anything else except who he was off to meet very shortly.

After the bell for lunch sounded he raced out and around the last building before the yard and his usual bench. Seeing who was there waiting for him, again, he couldn't help but smile and look at her brown curly hair that touched her shoulders, her perfect skin in the sunlight, what a sight it was.

Seeing Rex coming she waved him to hurry over.

"Wow you're quick, you beat me here again!" Rex said with a smile.

"Well my class was just up there by the yard" Vanessa said smiling and pointing, "didn't take me long to get here at all slow poke"

"Lucky you" he chuckled.

"Rex I would like to ask you something" Vanessa said with a serious look on her face.

"Anything" he said quickly

"I would like to have dinner with you, we could even do it at your house and could cook for me, like all romantic and such" she said winking.

This was unbelievable, for the first tine ever a girl had asked Rex on a date!!

"Absolutely!!" He said not even holding back his delight.

They exchanged numbers smiling and began their lunch.

I can't cook by surely Iris will help me he thought to himself, have to do my best to impress her!

Once the bell had gone they left for class after saying their goodbyes. Class went quickly for Rex again, racing back off to the bench.

Hm Ive beaten her for once he chuckled to himself. Sitting down he waited, and waited, checked his phone, and waited, lunch was almost up now! Where was she!

*DING* went his phone, it was a message.

'Hey Rex sorry it's Vanessa here, I've cut myself during a cooking class and had to go home, we still on for tonight I hope!'

'No worries at all' he relied quickly, sending his address and telling her 'dinner by 6?'

'Perfect' she said.

He couldn't be more happier than he was right now.

Nothing could ruin his night...

“How did you….” Nessa trailed off. Rex and Nessa knew what had happened to Pilk and were astonished she was here and in good shape.“Survive after you snapped my neck?” Pilk finished Nessa’s sentence with an evil grin, “Trade secret, may even tell you before I repay the favour back to you.”“Once more, leave us the boy and that girl and you two can leave” said one of the men, talking to Lizz and Charr.“You want him, must go past me” said Charr tapping his axe on his shoulder with a grin.Lizz added in shortly after, “And me too.”Rex looked at his friends and gave them a smile and respectful head nod at their statements, he couldn’t be happier that his friends were willing to fight with him until the end.“W

“Who are you and why would you want to help us?” Lizz asked eyeing her suspiciously.“My name is Nessa. I’ve been asking myself the same question” Nessa said with a smirk. That comment confused Lizz and Charr a little.“Do you know Rex?” Lizz asked.“Yes I do” Nessa replied nodding. When she said that she noticed Lizz frown a little. Was this girl his lover? She thought to herself, she reacted to her intrusion like Nessa would defending him if he was hers, another question that needed answering. She then realised that she was regarding Rex as hers, silly thoughts about him again she thought. “What or who has him unable to fight his way out? I know he is more than capable of taking on those 3 plus us and still probably win.”“How you know how Rex fight?” Charr asked stepping cl

“What the bloody hell does that mean?” Nessa asked. It was way too early in the morning for her riddles.“Typical good-mannered conversation” Al’ik said with a smirk, “I believe it means you are to help someone change, how would I know? Its your fate, not mine. I’m a healer, not a fortune teller.”“Then how did you see my fate?” Nessa asked.“I’m not sure, that’s why I debated as to tell you or not. It seemed quite serious to me, so I decided I would pass it on. It is now for you to decode what it is supposed to mean.” Al’ik replied, “Now eat this and you are good enough to be on your way.”Nessa nodded, sat down and took the food she was given. She hated riddles and was never good at them so she had no idea what, “show an outwards sign of an inwa

“Uurgh” was the only sound Rex could muster as he forced his eyes open. He had an intense headache from being hit on the head and was quite sure that wet feeling behind his head was blood. He could hear creaking noises before his eyes started to focus again, I am moving, he could feel the jolts. Blinking a few times to help clear his vision he sat his head up, he felt his hands and feet were bound tightly so he could not get up by himself. He could see 2 people to his front sitting facing forward and looking to his sides he saw wooden upright boards, he must have been in the back of a wagon.“Morning sunshine” came a voice from his feet area. Turning his head a little too quickly Rex felt his vision blur a little once more, don’t do that again he said to himself. Sitting at his feet was the woman from the vegetable stall. She was watching him with an evil smile on his face. She hopped up grabbed Rex’s shoulders and propped him up

Rex jumped up the moment the memories matched about who the person was. He quickly half dried himself, threw on some of the clothes that were put out for him and went in the direction he saw the woman walking. Not having a clear heading, he wandered aimlessly for a while looking into the faces of the maids he saw. Rounding a corner, he ran into Stug who was giving out orders to a man wearing a cloak, getting the man moving he looked back at Rex, eyed him up and down and saw him still half wet and asked hurriedly, “Is everything ok prince?”“Yes, one of the people you’re looking for is here! I saw her walk past my room” Rex said.“Really! They have the nerve to try and sneak back in, I will sort th

Once the man had burst out of the keep he came to a halt in front of the 3 companions, still ranting about dealing out the death penalty for the murder of his brother.“Who the f**k are you 3?” he yelled in their faces. They could see the vein popping from his neck, Lizz thought they were going to die.“These are the 3 accused of Dreg’s murder” replied a guard who was near them. This made the red-faced man leer at them, if looks could kill they would have all died by now.“I hereby sentence you 3 to death!!” he screamed pointing at them.
