e're told constantly that any problem in our life can be solved if we're determined enough. The end of every movie, every good book features the protagonist having absolutely no issues. So we try to convince ourselves that we can have a perfect life too; a life with zero problems.

Raina's grandma shared the same opinion. But little did she know, even after experiencing life more than most living people, not all problems could be solved. Not all things can be fixed.

Sometimes, you have to accept the fact that there exists things in the world you cannot change. Not with a thousand prayers or uncountable drops of tears. Not with violence or with silence. All you can really do, is watch it damage itself and along with it, a part of you.

Smearing a dark lipstick across her lips, Raina pressed them together and forced a smile on her face. She eyed her reflection in the girls' bathroom mirror.

She looked beautiful, adorned from head to toe in expensive brands. Her eyes darted to the new bag she'd purchased from Paris only a month ago. It costed more than what most parents of her peers earned monthly.

Anyone would die to be in her place. Live her life. She had everything and yet...

Her heart sank everytime she realised that she was only existing, never living.

The other students in her class were better off with their mediocre salary-earning parents. She was sure they atleast owned a part of their attention and time. Love too, perhaps.

Money doesn't buy happiness, they say.

Ask someone who is filthy rich-- Money does buy happiness. Temporary happiness.

Out of the two problems in her life, she had put her all in the past seventeen years to fix one. Everything can be fixed if you're determined enough, right? No.

No amount of determination and hardwork could fix problems that cannot be fixed. That was the principle of real life. And Raina was no character of a fictional story.

She was exhausted but every time she decided to put a full stop to her efforts, a sliver of hope clung to her heart, telling her-- just a little more and it'll be alright.

She groaned, sensing another incoming migrane. She couldn't let her life fall apart like her parents marriage. Divorces occured everyday. It was no big deal.

She was filthy rich. She had all the resources to spin her life into a beautiful one. She wouldn't let Pinterest quotes sadden her anymore.

And she would start by fixing the problem she never really focussed on before.

Confessing her love for Aditya.

The heels of her boots clicked against the stone pathway that lead out of the college building. Her field of vision was filled with green trees and hormonal teenagers running around.

A quick glance at her watch and she knew there were twenty minutes more before the last class for the day began. Aditya had to be around here somewhere. The woods were their favorite place.

Spending all those years alongside him in school had gotten her the recognition as his 'best friend'. Soon, she realised she wanted to be more.

Initially, she shrugged it off as a stupid feeling. Infatuation with a guy possessing enormous muscles and an arm full of tattoos was inevitable. She believed time would shake sense into her and the feeling would go away. But as time passed, the feeling intensified.

She concealed it all these years in the fear of being rejected. She didn't want to force her feelings on him.

His recent quest for finding 'the one' for him made her restless. He was hooking up with more girls than ever. She didn't judge him. He could be with as many girls as he wished. There was nothing wrong with it. Except, he would share all the hideous details with her, breaking her heart to infinite pieces.

It was better to confront him than live in the fear of the unknown and yet, every step she took increased the sick feeling in the pit of her stomach.

How would he react?

Does he already know?

Would he reciprocate her feelings?

Or just laugh it off and break her heart again?

The questions popped into her mind, one at a time, melting her brain.

One confession and she would receive an answer to all of them.

With a determined smile, she marched forward with a newfound courage. However, she stopped mid-track when her eyes witnessed a heartbreaking deed.

Aditya stood beneath a tree, kissing a girl passionately. His hands were all over her. They parted and he waved her off with a wide grin, the kind which was only reserved for Raina. Even when the girl had vanished into the crowd, he still kept staring in her direction, gently rubbing his palm across his chest.

Tears spilled out of her eyes without a warning. The amount of time she'd put in her eye-makeup was in vain. Her mascara dripped down her cheekbones.

He had already found his 'the one'.

And she wasn't Raina.

An hour of kicking around one ball between twenty adrenaline-filled teenagers exhausted Mayra, even though she was only a spectator. She had undoubtedly enjoyed the few goals Shrey had scored and scoffed at some Samarth had managed to execute.Thankfully, everytime the ball approached her way, she'd dodged it. But Niharika, one of the cheerleaders wasn't as lucky, neither was she attentive or had good reflexes. It was good to know that she'd only hurt her arm. Nothing major.Mayra had barely read a few pages of the book she'd freshly issued from the library. A spark of excitement had ignited inside of her and she knew she couldn't wait for the next session. She was beyond enthralled and now understood why there existed so many 'die hard' football fans."Amazing is the word, right?" Shrey asked with a smirk, trying to be cool."Gross is. You're drenc

That week had lasted longer than any Mayra had lived before. The weekend had finally dawned and she couldn't wait to go home and have a good long nap while cuddling with her teddy bear. A yawn escaped her lips. Most of the lights were turned off, filling the long-stretched room with an unending darkness. She doubted for a second whether Samarth was still in there but she hadn't seen him leave and her eyes were on the door all the time."Samarth?" She called out and her voiced echoed back from the walls. The darkness crawled on her skin, making her feel uncomfortable. She wished Shrey had done this instead. She called out his name again but received no response whatsoever. Her feet took her back along the path she came, convinced that he had left without her notice. Suddenly, she halted when her eyes caught the faint outline of a figure. Walking closer, she realised it was inde

After seeing Reanna off at the airport along with Tania and Samarth, Aditya decided to take another stop before returning back to his house. The sun was about the set and the sky was coloured with different shades ranging from purple to orange. However he knew he couldn't end another day without talking to Raina. She had taken to ignoring him during classes. Aadhya had stuck to her same story. But he didn't believe it.Standing outside her doorstep, he took a deep breath before ringing the bell twice. It chimed and he anticipated to see her smiling face opening the door. The door opened slightly and she peeped through the little gap. Aditya passed her a wide grin and she opened the door completely, but with a irritated expression on her face. She was dressed in PJs and a loose tshirt. Her hair was uncombed and her face was natural, not a tinge of makeup. Without the contour, h

"Who's going to write the Schrödinger Equation on the board?" Mrs. Dixit asked, wiping her chalk covered hands on her kurti. She added soon, "Without looking into the texbook."Shrey didn't simply nickname Mayra 'Hermione Granger'. Oh, no. The name suited her perfectly. She was the ardent worshipper of the phrase 'Knowledge is power'. And she didn't fear to show off her power in front of her petty classmates who took everything for granted. Her hand shot up high into the air. Shrey tried to muffle a snort."Come up, quick." The chemistry teacher commanded and she obeyed. She picked up a piece of chalk from the table and started writing the equation on the board."Done." She said and was about to place the chalk piece back but she was interrupted.Mrs. Dixit asked with a raised eyebrow, "Are you sure it's correct?" She turned

"Today is the day Samarth Singhania takes his last breath!" Mayra scoffed and stomped her feet on the floor as she walked past several students in the corridor. They watched her in awe and laughed as she passed them. It didn't take them a lot of time to realise she was the same girl from the recent Instagram prank video posted by the Junior Class.Shrey huffed behind her, trying to keep up with her pace as she stormed out into the campus to look for the person that caused her to fume out in anger."I know, Mayra, I did promise I'd accompany you in all your ventures but going to jail wasn't something I was expecting to be in the list."She took longer strides as her eyes darted from left to right in search of Samarth. The ridiculous glares she earned from the teenagers settled around her only added fuel to the rage inside of her."Maybe, I won't kill him, Shrey! But a few punches will go a
