Scarlett

"Corre Scarlett!"

"Madre por que?"

"Ve ahora bebe!"

The last memory of my mother is playing in my head. This was before she was gunned down by my father's enemies. Her voice still haunts me but gives me the strength I need to always push through. That was thirteen years ago and I still have nightmares of finding her lifeless body.

I watched as my mother's blood seeped into the carpet of her bedroom and I vowed that the ones who killed her would pay for what they did. I was found hours after her death, my tio found me cuddled next to her fast asleep.

"They will pay, tio," I said to myself.

Memories that haunt me and give me strength. This one of all is my most powerful, because it helps me remember why I do what I do. My heart and my mind racing as I race around the track leaving my teammates behind.

"Keep up!" I say as I run, passing up Antonio and Griffin. "Ah, you guys lose again! It must suck to be you."

I laugh as I throw my arms up like Rocky Balboa. The guys blow me off as we all hydrate and start to talk shop.

"Santiago will be contacting one of you regarding the Luciano mission," Antonio says before pouring water over himself.

"That's huge," Griffin says still out of breath.

I'd been waiting for those words for years, so this is music to my ears. The Jimenez and the Luciano's have been rivals since the beginning and I was finally going to get my in. The Luciano's are the ones who murdered my mother in cold blood and after 13 years, I was going to get my revenge.

"I want in. I haven't been under since we lost Lamont."

We were all filled with sadness, but that's the price of this job. We have no way of knowing if we would ever come back alive and each mission that we've lost someone is a reminder to us all that we were lucky to be here.

"I'm going to talk to Santiago," Griffin says in a matter of fact tone, "When I get the mission, I will bring you on, sweetheart."

Griffin begins jogging to his car and I scoff. I don't need him to bring me on because I'm the one Santiago is going to contact; he promised me the next mission.

"I'm going to head out, too. I have a few things to do."

"How about we grab lunch?" Antonio says with a beautiful smile.

He's the type of guy your parents want you to marry. Handsome, strong and sweet as pie. But I don't want sweet. Antonio is still a puzzle I've yet to figure out completely. As sweet as he is, he can be cold; I've seen him in action.

"Rain check?" I say before putting my earbuds in to jog the two miles to my car.

I love this city, especially in early May when everything starts growing and you can smell spring with each breath. While jogging, I catch sight of a shirtless man in black running shorts and shades. His upper body was a canvas full of tattoos, including his hands. I watch as his muscles flex as he hits the pavement, owning it.

It's my job to notice things rather quickly and in five seconds flat, I could see he wasn't married and had an all about business face. We glanced at each other as we passed and a wave of heat went straight to my coño.

Yes, my pussy was throbbing with just a glance from him. Whenever she did that, I knew to stay away. I've learned the hard way that thinking with your pussy and your heart only gets you pain. And not the pain I prefer when fucking.

I made it to my pearl white Lexus RX and just as the engine purred, a call came through my speakers.

"Santiago."

"Qué pasa?" I say in my native tongue.

"There's a big fish in the game who's taking people out left and right."

"What's the mission?"

"He owns a strip club and plenty of warehouses. He's into weapons, drugs, and women." He emphasized the last word.

"Human trafficking?"

"Not quite. He's rather picky, so this will not be an easy task."

"Get close and get to know his operations?"

"The guy runs a dangerous operation, cutthroat as hell. He's got some kills under his belt. Right now, he and the Russo's are out for blood. This is hardcore; Mafia ties all up and through this, Scar."

Was he trying to scare me or tempt me? I thought to myself before speaking.

"I can handle him, Santi. Where's the file?"

"Sending it to your phone now. Call me when you've decided."

"I'm in! Nothing to think about."

"If I sense any danger, I'm pulling you out."

"I'm not sure what you're expecting, but we can handle him. Antonio is on this mission already, I will be fine. Will we bring Griffin on, too?" I ask out of complete curiosity.

"There's an address in the file. You need to be there tomorrow at 4 PM for auditions. Yeah, Griffin will be on, too."

"Great. Twenty-four hours to get our shit together."

"You've done it in less."

He was right, we had and I've been waiting 13 years to strike this family.

  • Belonging to Him    Chapter 6

After a quick shower, I went in for my shift and met with Diego, the manager over the waitresses. He didn't greet me, just gave me my uniform and showed me where my locker was to change. A man of few words and too many meatballs. He was a stocky guy with salt and pepper hair and a mole on the side of his nose.I quickly changed into the black, satin bra and panty duo with matching garters and the classic white, silk playboy bunny-like collar and cuffs. The tights, feeling so smooth against my skin, are paired with black, classic Christian Louboutin heels. I wore my hair half up, half down and blood red lipstick."Well hello, Roxanne." A familiar voice spoke out from behind me. I turned to see the charming Lorenzo in the doorway."Hey, Lorenzo," I said sweetly. "How do I look?" I asked with my hands on my hips."Beautiful, to say the least," He said as he threw me a wink. "You're going to be working with me ton

Buzz.Buzz.I awoke to my phone vibrating and the sun coming through my window. I sleepily stretch my arms and search the bed for my phone. With my head still on the pillow, I answer the call."Hello?"I listen, but there's no one there. No sound, no voice, but I can hear my heart. I'm instantly awakened and reaching for my gun off of the nightstand."Hello?"Dial Tone.I wrap the sheet around my naked body and look around the house making sure all the doors are locked and there's nothing out of place. I can't fight the feeling that something isn't right. To you, it's just a phone call, but for me, this means someone who I've crossed may be after me. Nature of the business, I guess.Remembering I have a meeting with the guys to brief them on my new life, I texted them the details while get

The sun warm on my skin and the smell of Mole de Olla Soup filled the small kitchen, and the sweet hum of my mother's voice filled the room. My heart crashed against my chest as I run toward my mother and wrap my arms around her."Mamá!"My mother holds me tightly and moves my thick black hair from my face as she begins to place a sweet kiss to my forehead before she signals me to sit and eat."Mi amor mi bebe sentarse y comer."Tears began to stream as I sit across from my mother as my 22 year old self, and her with salt and pepper hair. A dream that I'd give anything to have come to life."Ten Cuidado Escarlata es un problema.""Esto es para ti mamá."I awake in sweat from my dream and can't help but think that she's sending me a message.I have to see Giovanni and his cock tonight, while Antonio had a date set up with Isabella, Giovan

  • Belonging to Him    Chapter 3

I awoke the next morning to my alarm buzzing and me not wanting to leave my bed. I decided to hit snooze and not take my daily run. I wanted to sleep, but instead, I was back in his file. They have reason to believe he killed his brother and my mother, but there's no way. He was 12 at the time and that could have easily been an initiation. This is information we could possibly get from the sister. She could make or break my plan.I finally pulled myself out of bed to get dressed for the day. I decided to throw on some black leggings and a white tank that barely covered my breasts. My hair is half-up, half-down, full of waves; my natural hair texture. I slipped on a pair of white and black Nike Air Max and a waist length leather jacket. On my way out, there was a man selling hot chocolaté and tamales. I grabbed two cheese tamales and headed to Body Tap.The club was well lit and the girls were masterpieces, all goddesses of every flavor. Maybe I do h

  • Belonging to Him    Chapter 2

I arrived at Body Tap wearing a black, mid-thigh, bodycon dress and 5-inch, red Valentino stilettos. My hair was pulled back in its signature style, a slick ponytail and I finished the looked with a scarlet red, matte lipstick. The club is beautiful. I've seen many strip clubs, but this one screamed wealth and luxury. Definitely not what I was expecting with its name. Outside stood a bouncer in a black suit, standing next to red velvet ropes. He's the typical big guy to scare people off, but to me, he could very well be a Walmart greeter. I've learned to have no fear."What's your name, sweetness?""Marisol. I'm here for an audition."Making sure to say my name in a way that would stick to him like honey."Good luck," He said as he stepped aside to let me in. "He's in his office."I entered the club and was greeted by glass, mirrors, and elegance. A strip club in the day is li
