I look at myself in the full length mirror."Ava, I can't wear this," I shout from my room for the umpteenth time. Ava walks into the room and gasps."I know, it makes me look like a.. I don't know, it's too skimpy," I tell her, looking at her shocked expression from the mirror."Nonsense, you look beautiful," she says as she inspects me from the mirror. If wearing revealing clothes makes you look beautiful then yeah, I was looking very beautiful. The dress is beautiful, I agree, but it is too revealing for my liking. It is bold red in colour with a sweetheart neckline that shows more of my breasts than I would like. It is tight in the waist and flowy, ending at my mid thigh. This is not mine, Ava brought this for herself but she said it would look better on me. I look at Ava and I know she is going to make me wear this to the party. It somewhat excites me though because Ace would be there and

Painting nature sounded boring to everyone and they groaned the minute Mrs. Lee said we had to paint something related to nature. But I believe it depends on ourselves, it just needs a slight change of perspective. I didn't think painting nature was boring.Or maybe, painting never bored me. Whether it was a basket of fruits or some human model, I loved painting. However, I always failed to convey my feelings into it.I struggle to chose between an ocean and a forest. I look around me, there were plentiful of greens so I decide to go with the ocean. I love bright paintings that bring happiness. The world is difficult and depressing as it is, why make it more depressing? It was the same reason I didn't enjoy sad endings- movie or books, neither.Once I was done painting my ocean, I look at it, taking a few steps back. It missed something. I don't understand, I gave my everything to it. It sure looked happy but it missed somethi

I am still trembling but the tears have slowed down. He comes in front of me and bends down so that he can look at me in the eye. His minty breath hits my face as I focus my gaze on his eyes. He is saying something but I can not really make out what he is trying to tell me.He wipes my tears with his hand and I almost flinch. After ages, I can finally breathe normally. My tears stop and I can hear him saying 'everything is okay' and mumbling something about how he doesn't know how to comfort someone."T-thanks," I say through my quivering lips as I look into his brown eyes. They don't really show any emotion but somehow it's comforting. He stands back and scratches his neck, mumbling a 'no problem'. I look at the bodies in the floor."They'll wake up in few hours," he says darkly when he notices my eyes on them."Let's go."I follow him outside the building into the school field.

I hear whispers as I walk through the hallway filled with students. I feel anxiety settle in me. Most of them don't notice me but others do. I catch some of the whispers. Is she new?Look how short her skirt is!She looks like a nerd.Yeah, a cute nerd.I look down as I walk, letting my long blonde hair cover my face. Talk about being judged, no one likes it. I am searching for the reception and I have no idea where it is. However, I bump into someone causing their papers to scatter on the floor. Not again.I look to find a girl picking the papers. I help her, unlike the guy from yesterday. "I'm really sorry," I say with a small apologetic smile once all the papers are collected."No no, it's okay," she says. "Are you new? I haven't seen you around.""Yeah, I'm Venus. What's your name?" I ask hoping to make a new friend. I am going to need someone if I want to surv

This is my second time coming to the city. The first time was about a week ago. The tall buildings and huge roads with so many vehicles, the noise- the city as a whole, would take time to grow on me.However, this visit is different from the last. I won't be going back.I look outside the window as cars zoom past us. The car I'm in is my uncle's. There are boxes beside me, packed with my belongings. It's a four hour drive from my uncle's home and my legs have started cramping. We're almost there, I slightly remember the neighbourhood. It's one of the depressing parts of the city. To be honest, I don't like the place I'm going to live in. The apartments look old and plain depressing. The fact that I'm going to live alone hits me right then. I've been feeling ecstatic since I heard I would finally get to live in a city but now it sinks in.I'll be all alone. My uncle parks the car. T
