LOGINI took him to one of my favorite cafés. The barista, Charlie, knows me so well that he didn't need to ask for my order, he knows the usual. Luke ordered a sandwich and iced tea and we took a seat.
I am not a coffee drinker, more on the milkier side. It's milk, milk, milk, more milk, and a little bit of coffee for me. Not that I don't like coffee but I like it creamier. My Mom brews coffee because my dad likes it dark.
I took out my notebook for Math and he took out his as well. It was empty, just the title of the lesson was the only thing written on it. How does he study with only a little note?
"You don't have notes?" I asked him.
"I don't write, I just listen," it sounded cocky to me but his face was blank so I think he didn't intend to sound whatever I think he sounded like. But it's amazing, this is math okay? This is math and I hate this subject.
"How do you plan to teach me?" I asked, again. Wouldn't he speak if I don't ask a question? Talking isn't his hobby, I get it. A tutor should talk a lot because they teach, okay?
"I brought my book," and he pulled it out from his navy blue backpack. His backpack doesn't have anything special on it, it's plain and boring, just a blue one. And wouldn't talk as well even if I ask a question.
"Great," I sighed in relief.
He gave me equations that I needed to evaluate. I know what I had to do, there were just laws that I need to apply first before solving. So I interrogated him with questions, like an investigator, so I can proceed with my work.
"Why don't you write notes? It helps a lot you know, help you remember the lesson because you wrote about it," I asked, hoping he would answer and talk without me asking him questions just so we could have a conversation.
"It doesn't work the same way for me," He answered and took a bite of his sandwich.
My Mom knows I'm going home late, I texted her. She knows about the tutor thing and also suggested that we should do it at home, maybe tomorrow, I'll tell Luke.
"So, you're good at Math?" I asked, opening another topic that he'll end in a complete second.
"Yes,"
"You don't like science? I love science! So much!" I smiled at him.
"Nope,"
"Then what else do you like aside from Math?"
"History,"
"Oooh, interesting!" I took a sip of my vanilla latte and put my pen down. "History bores me!" I commented.
"I like Math more,"
"I only know a few people who like Math, it's confusing. Why add another problem to your life when you already have one right?!" I told him. I sounded corny stating that fact.
"Are we going to talk about Math or you're going to solve that problem so we can go home now?" He asked without pauses.
I took my pen that rests on the flat table, "Yeah, I forgot," I smiled at him and continued solving.
I thought this would be easy. But Luke himself isn't. He's not opening up! This will take up too much of my time. I hope I make it in two weeks, then I'll get my end of the bargain and the silver arrow.
Why doesn't he believe in love anyway? If Cupid knows---of course, he knows! He should've told me the reason behind Luke's bitterness towards love so it won't be this hard for me! That Cupid!
I solved the equation as fast as I can, so we can go home. Luke is not talkative, obviously, and it'll be the cause of my death. I ate my favourite sprinkled doughnut and vanilla latte in between solving and getting confused.
When I finished, we packed our bags and stood up, ready to go home. I also brought the balloons with me, inside the cafe, the strings were tied on the chair so it won't fly away. It's pink and white, so the kids will definitely love it!
I'm not good with kids, but I try to be kind towards them. Because I was once a kid and I hated rude adults who also hate kids.
"Where do you live?" I asked him, again. Do I always need to open up the topic so we can talk?! DO I ALWAYS NEED TO?! NEVER MIND.
"Two blocks away," my eyes gleamed.
"Mine too!" I giggled, "You're going to walk?" I asked, again.
"Yeah, it's near." He took his bag and placed its strap on his left shoulder.
"We can walk together, right?" Luke looked at me, "We're going the same way, I don't want to walk alone, so," I smiled at him. A sweet one that will make him say yes no matter what.
"Yeah sure," then we walked out of the café.
I was struggling with holding the balloons, "Did you really need to bring this home with you?" He asked.
Finally, thank God and the heavens! He finally asked for the first time!
"No, I was planning on giving them out to kids on the way!" I exclaimed.
"You're good with kids?" This is getting interesting and easier with Luke asking out questions.
"Nope," I pursed my lips.
"Here let me help," he lessened my struggle with helping me carry the other balloons. "If you're not good with kids, why do this?"
"Because you're here and you're going to help me!" I clarified.
"Not good with kids either," He said with a low voice.
"Then we'll try!" I winked at him, "Love is trying, Luke!"
We continued walking then we passed by a kid, we're both contemplating who will be the one to give the little boy the balloon.
"You first," He told me.
"Fine," I walked towards the kid and gave him the white balloon, he's a boy, he won't appreciate the pink one. The kid thanked me, he looks cute!
"Told you, love is trying!" I winked again.
"Your eyes don't get tired winking, doesn't it?" He mocked me. "Or you're trying to be cute in front of me?"
I gave him a glare, the nerve of this guy "Excuse me? You're not my type, you're not Finn!" Hours ago he was not saying anything, and now? he's something.
"Come on, there's a little girl there, your turn!"
"Hi," he greeted the little girl somehow awkward, "This one is for you," Luke gave her the pink one and she smiled then thanked him.
"Love is giving," I winked again as I told him that.
As we walk home we finished giving out all the pink and white balloons to every child we walk passed by and encounter. Even the ones with their parents.
I stopped when I was in front of our lawn, "I live here, thank you for letting me walk with you," I told him.
"Your house's door is red," he noticed and told me.
"Symbolizes Love!" I winked again.
"I'm starting to think you're trying to cute in front of me," Luke said.
"I'm starting to think you're learning to make conversations with me," I said back.
"I'm going, see you tomorrow," I added, he gave me a nod and walked away.
I watched him walk, he turned to a subdivision three houses away from mine. He lives at Greenwood Village, interesting.
I entered the house and Mom shocked me, she was standing by the door.
"Mom, what are you doing?" I asked.
"Was that your tutor?" She asked with narrowed eyes.
I nodded and she said, "He's cute, shiny brown hair," I rolled my eyes with what she said.
"Stop complimenting my target, Mom!" I yelled.
"Your what?!" Her eyes were round and wide in shock.
"My tutor!" I said and walked to my room.
"I'll call you for dinner!" I heard her say.
I entered my room and I was surprised to see a guy in a black hoodie and pants was seating on my vanity table.
"Oh Good Lord!" I was holding my chest, my heart was racing, "You're trespassing!"
"No one knows," he said casually.
"I know! That's the point!" I sat on my bed, removed my shoes and placed them on my shoe rack, "Why are you here anyway?"
"Just checking on your mission," he says.
"I'm doing great," I told him with full boost confidence.
"I think not, stop winking and telling him that, 'Love is trying', 'Love is giving,'" he tried mimicking my voice but failed.
"I have my ways, Cupid. I know what I'm doing! You'll be surprised one day he's believing," I said in a cocky tone.
"If you say so," And he was gone.
I hope I'll make it before Valentine's.
"How come I'm the only one who can see you?" I asked Cupid as we walk to school. It's a peaceful morning, the sun shining brightly and bird chirping sweetly. It is another day of attempting to make Luke Lewis believe in love in exchange for a lifetime with Finn"When you were in the café, I ticked off some potion on your coffee," I nodded my head.
"They're both stupid,"Luke said seating on the carpet with all the other books he brought for tonight's tutoring session.Mom is in the kitchen making pasta, white sauce, it's my favorite. And I am sitting on the sofa with the literature book on page two hundred and sixty-four, reading the excerpt of Romeo and Juliet, the part where Juliet already consumed the sleeping potion and Romeo was frustrated he also drank poison, Juli
"Why do I need to make him believe in Love? I could just do your job and make him fall in love for Lily," I told Cupid who is leaning on my opened comfort room door while I brush my teeth.I know!! He's invading my privacy and acts like my Dad. I saw him smirk and it looks bad on him, ack! I almost spit out the toothpaste on my uniform."He can't fall in love when he doesn't belie

Jelly Anderson was laughing loudly, thumping her fork on the table. I was just drinking my fruit juice, Luke was eating his burger and the fat guy beside me was astonished by his friend's laughter."What's your name?" I whispered to the guy beside me while Jelly is still busy laughing so hard."Nate," he whispered back.
I am on my way to school. Dad was off to work as well and Mom insisted that she will drive me to school even if it's just three blocks away. She parked the car and before I can even open the car's door she bombarded me with reminders."Honey, your antibiotic ointment, don't forget! and also don't go to dusty places, okay? No parties for now, when your wounds finally heal then parties are alright." She kissed the top of my head.
