LOGINLanie's POV:
I'm still hiccuping while trying to suppress my emotion. I saw how furious he is. And even though I came from a near death experience, I still saw how mad and scared Yshmael is. His muscles are in tension, flexing with his emotion.
I looked at him and saw how evident his anger. His eyes are blazing with fire. Too much anger. There's a bit tears in his eyes.
"Yshmael..." I called him. Because I feel like he is too restrained to let go of his emotions. "You're here..."
He bent down and gently wiped away his tears. "Sshh, it's okay sweetheart. I'm sorry, I'm a bit late." Then, he kissed my forehead and hugged me.
"Yshmael," someone called him.
Then I just realized where I was and what was going on.
The gunshots became clear to me again. I no longer have to guess them, because ever since I heard that bang that pierced the tire of Gregor's car, it has remained in my mind.
Yshmael hugged me even tighter. It was as if even with his arms wrapping around me, he could hide me from what was happening around us.
"They are coming. To the building!" Another voice shouted.
I looked around and saw a lot of refrigerator trucks. There are lots of logs and construction equipment also. And in front of us, an abandoned three storey building a few meters away from us. It's old and almost wrecked.
I turned to the man who's calling Yshmael. I was even more surprised to see the president of the Chemistry Department, standing by our side and holding a gun. Next to him was Roleen, he first looked at me as if making sure I was okay. Roleen nod his head a bit.
Leo Lee also nodded at me.
I felt more nervous when I saw that they were good at holding guns.
It looks like they are used and very familiar with guns.
"Maelanie..." Yshmael caressed my cheeks, making me faced him.
"Primo told me everything. As well as the reason why you were tangled in my family's trouble..." He said which surprised me even more.
What did he say? His family matters?
Why I am tangled with his family issues?
Before I could ask him he quickly pulled me up. "One thing is for sure, I won't let you get hurt. So Sweetheart, will you trust me? Please," the sweetness of his voice was almost pleading.
I just nodded and looked at our hands clasped together.
"Don't stay away from me. And I'm the only one you'll look at." Yshmael emphasized his words. "Don't look at anywhere. Focus your eyes on me."
I have not yet processed what he means. Just like before I just nodded.
I don't know what happened next, I just saw myself running with them into an abandoned building.
We're rushing towards the building, and I don't like the fear that resonates inside me. The gunshots followed us.
We got in quickly and immediately split up. Yshmael's not letting my hand go, so I kept following him. For several times I glanced at his hand holding the gun tightly. I'm not really used seeing him with a gun.
I screamed when I hear another gunshots. Although I want to stay quiet to remain unseen by our pursuers, I can't do that. I have not yet recovered from the trauma of being confined to a refrigerator truck. And here, I'm getting another trauma.
Yshmael fired again and I just tried to cover my ears. Yshmael held me in his arm, but from time to time he exchange shots with the enemies.
We almost crawled out of our hiding place and headed towards the logs. There was a small opening there and he almost squeezed me in that.
"Stay here." The tone he said was final. "Don't ever go anywhere."
I felt my face turned pale again. I quickly shook my head and held his hands. "No Yshmael. I'm really scared."
He heaved a sigh. "Sweetheart... I can't risk your safety. I don't want to feel what I felt when I found out that Gregor took you. I'm telling you, I can kill those bastards. So please, stay here. I'll come back to you, even if I were a corpse, I would come back to you. That's a promise."
I nodded.
He cupped my face and wipe my tears. "Promise to stay here, alright?"
I nodded. I got what he meant.
He kissed my cheeks and handed me a handgun. I shook my head so he held my hands again. "You won't use it. As long as you don't need it, you won't use it. I just want your safety. Please..." His eyes were pleading.
I looked at the gun again. I took it and put it on my side. I won't use it if it's not necessary.
Yshmael seemed to be at ease a little. He kissed my cheeks again. "I'll be back." That's all and he quickly walked away.
Trembling, I looked at the gun and held it tightly. This one is a Ruger Blackhawk, a six shot and single revolver. I am familiar with guns, I also know how to shoot because Page taught me a few times when I was still in the city.
But those are just practice! I never thought I could use that against anyone.
I checked the gun, it was fully loaded.
"This is just for my safety..." I repeated what Yshmael said but I was overwhelmed again when I heard a series of gunshots near where I was.
I closed my eyes as I get out. I crawled out of my place and headed for a larger pile of logs a few meters away from me. I did my best not to get attention.
I seem to understand why the actors are not able to listen to what I see in the movie every time their partner tells them not to leave and wait to come back.
It is not because they're hardheaded. But out of fear that swallowing them up. Like me. I want to wait for Yshmael as I promised, but I'm too afraid to do that. I feel like I will die more if I just stay there.
Somehow I calmed down when I reached the pile of straw and logs. I looked for a place to hide but I was immediately stunned to see who was in front of me.
"Y-Yvan." I wanted to be happy in his presence but fear overwhelmed me.
"Maelanie! What are you doing here?" His expression is a bit concerned.
He started to approach me, I stepped backwards until I felt the log on my back. With nervousness and fear I unconsciously let go of the gun I was holding.
We both looked at it once more.
His eyebrows rose. "A student with a gun?" He asked.
I gasped when he picked the gun up.
"And it's fully loaded. This is a major offense Ms. Inocencio and I am disappointed." He said, with a disappointed look.
"And I can't imagine what kind of punishment you'll get for this. This is too much for an offense." He slapped me with the gun.
"Ah!" I felt the pain of what he did. I lost my balance and fell to the floor, at the same time as blood flowed to the side of my lip.
"Maelanie!" We both turned to the angry voice.
And I almost fainted with fear when I saw Yshmael approaching us.
Anger welled up in his eyes. And I could clearly see how tensed his arms are due to excessive emotion.
"Don't you dare touch her!" He's furious.
Sir Yvan chuckled. "Oh, it's my little brother."
"You're not my brother!" Yshmael spatted. He's mad. And I could clearly see the haste in his steps.
"Stop, Yshmael Marco."Yvan warned him. He shot the floor near Yshmael but he did not even move.
He continued to approach us even though his brother had already fired a few shots in his path.
Annoyed, Sir Yvan pointed the gun towards me. He pulled the trigger and I was stunned when he fired it on the floor, near my foot.
"Stop or I'll shoot her." Again, he pointed the gun to my head.
Yshmael could do nothing but stop three meters away from us. He looked at me with so much emotion. He's assuring me, that everything will be alright.
"Drop your gun, Marco." Yvan demanded.
Yshmael looked at him sharply. I can see how he tried to control himself. He closed his eyes before throwing the gun he was holding away from him.
In an instant, Yvan pointed his gun to Yshmael.
"Yshmael!" I shouted his name as he stumbled down. His knee-length pants immediately covered with blood.
Yvan shot his knee!
"Whoa! My stiff and cold brother, I did not think the heir of the Aronzagas would have a weakness." Smiling he said as he looked at Yshmael who was trying to stand up.
I can't control myself. Before Yvan pointed the gun at me again I immediately ran to Yshmael.
I clearly saw how Yshmael's eyes flared up when he saw what I did.
I heard gun shots behind me. But that did not stop me.
The shots only stopped when I got close to Yshmael. He immediately put one arm around my waist and immediately hid me behind him.
"What a romantic scene. I did not expect this." Yvan sarcastically commented, pointing his gun towards us.

Three years laterMy eyes stayed on the view outside the car, as I used to fit myself into the sights. I have been like this since our car picked me up at the airport. It has been three years since that tragedy happened in the town of Hespheria. It was like a fire that spread all over the country, especially that many high profiled individuals are involved. The city of Vienna, which stayed low-profile in the Western Visayas and is not previously noticed by people on the map, has been in the news for months after the tragedy occurred in one of the richest towns in the city. It happened fast. Too fast that I can hardly keep up. It was a few days before my brain processed everything.Sage is Maser, the legend hacker in underworld. He is like Page who is known as Invader. Lanie's POV:I'm crying as I walked to the door.I can't even walk properly because I'm really exhausted, let alone my chest tightened in pain."You are my friend..." I heard Rhosean. When I looked back at her, she was holding the baseball bat. She slammed it with all her might on the glass box hanging on the wall. She took a bow there. It's a crossbow, a recurve crossbow. She took some iron arrows and positioned them in the middle of the bow. She pointed the weapon to me.I'm too tired to move. I just stared at the shiny body of the arrow that was on the arrow retention spring. Even her finger on the trigger of the crossbow was shaking."You are my friend..." Her lips are twitching. "But I hate you. I'm so mad at you. I'm so jealous. What's wrong with everyone, huh? What do you have that I don't. Why it's always you?" She finally confessed.
Lanie's POV:I crawled, walked, and even run just to follow Rona's decision. Even if I want to go back there, I know I can only be a burden to them. I don't know a thing. I don't know how to fight. I can't even hold a gun properly because my hands were still trembling.I gasped as I looked in front of me. I no longer knew which direction I'm heading to. All I know is I need to get out from here.I am in pain. I'm coughing and I can feel that my muscle was still trembling from the cold I've been earlier. Apart from the fact that my body is really weak from what happened. It's just annoying that all of them came at me altogether. Lanie's POV:"Why are you doing this?" Scared, but I managed to ask him.I saw him smile at my question. He walked closer and stopped at a sufficient distance. He seemed to think while playing with the gun in his hand."Why?" He smiled again at my question. "Let's say, it's because of a revenge. I'm just taking what they owe me!"I got confused, not getting what he wanted to say.Yvan shook his head. "For sure, you still remember about my story I told you back then. The death of my whole family. To make the story short, the Aronzagas were the first to reach out to us. They also came from I don't know what reason." He looked at Yshmael. "Maybe because they are guilty? Because they were responsible for the burning of our house and the death of my family!""Liar!" Yshmael hissed. "You're father is a traitor, Yvan. Dad forgave him but he was addicted to gambling and buried in debt in our fam

The cold air sent shivered down my spine.I tried to remember everything that had happened. From the time I went back to school until Gregor punched me in the stomach. I touched my stomach, it was still a little sore. I never thought Gregor could do this, especially when he laid his hands on me.I smiled bitterly, I'm really stupid.
