Lanie's POV:

“Aren’t you getting bored here?” Rona asked as she lay down on her bed.

It’s my third day here in Saint Augustine and in those three days I’m stuck here in our dorm, I’m not allowed to go outside because of my sprained feet.

“Of course I’m bored, who wouldn’t be? I feel like I’m being confined here inside our dorm but Ms. Lia told me that I can go outside on Monday though I’m still not allowed to force my feet so it can be fully healed by that time.” I told her with a frown on my face.

I’m excused from all of my classes for three days, it’s Friday today and because of it, I’m having an instant five days vacation, but not really a vacation since all I do is to self study, good thing these three girls who is also my roommates lends me their notes so that I can catch up with the lesson they tackled.

She got up and headed to our room’s door then locked it before approaching me.

“Since we're allowed to go outside, let's go to a gadget repair shop after class so your tablet will be fixed. I know a repair shop near here,” Rona whispered.

“Thanks,” I said and smiled at her. I still feel bothered about the article that is on my tablet and I also miss having a conversation with DWD’s members.

I also asked Rona about the article, but she doesn’t know anything, looks like Page sent it just for me.

And speaking of Page, after our conversation when I was at the Aronzaga’s mansion he hasn't contacted me yet, I didn't receive even a single text from him and I’m wondering why since he always calls me when I’m still in Vienna.

“I’m quite busy these days. I miss being in the deep web, I miss deep diving and I miss our conversations in DWD’s group chat.” She said as she lay down again in her bed and stared at the ceiling.

I closed the book that I am reading and faced her.

“Me too, that’s why I want my tablet to be fixed as soon as possible.” My tablet is the only thing that I can use right now because I didn’t know that my Mom would remove my laptop for deep diving on the things I’ve ready to take here in Saint Augustine, so I need to go home just to get it and that would be a hassle for me.

I still need to catch up with the lessons that I missed, that's why I’m not planning to go home this weekend, I’ll just wait for my tablet to be fixed.

“By the way, why are you here? Don’t you have a class?” I asked Rona when I remember that it's still class hours.

There’s still a few minutes left before the last class will be dismissed and she's been hanging around here in our dorm since lunchtime.

She sat up and faced me, “I excused myself.”

I confusedly looked at her. “What a bad student” I said jokingly when I finally got her point.

She just laughed at me and lay down on her bed again. “My body’s aching from all the training I’ve been through and my mind is bleeding because of the experiments we have in our laboratory.”

I shook my head at what she said.

She’s in Taekwondo club and she’s one of the representatives of their club, that’s one of the reasons why she’s attending just a few of her subjects. She also belongs to the Young Experimentalist of our school where they experiment with liquid alternatives.

“You still haven’t joined any club Lanie, what club are you thinking of joining?”

I just shrugged my shoulders.

“I still don’t know, joining a club isn’t a mandatory right?”

She nodded, “Yes, but it’ll be a big help as an extracurricular.”

“I’ll just do it next time since I still have lots of lessons to catch up.” That’s true because just like what I feared, their lessons here are advanced.

She just stayed quiet and I go back to the lessons I’m studying.

Later on we heard the bell rang that signal for the dismissal of the last class for today. Me and Rona knowingly smiled at each other and we both rose from our seats and started fixing ourselves.

Exactly when we finished doing our thing we heard a knock from our room’s door, and our other two roommates calling us.

“Where are you going?” Lovely asked as soon as she came into our room.

“Just outside, we’re going to a repair shop for Lanie’s tablet. How about you two? Are you going home?” Rona returned the question to them.

They both nodded.

“Yeah, we’re just going to rest for a bit, then we’re going home today.” Jasleene answered.

“Then we’ll go first.” We bid our goodbye to them before going outside our dorm.

We saw a flood of students going outside of their dorms too, but the thing is they are not just going outside because they are all going home.

It’s still four o’clock in the afternoon, but the surroundings seem darker, and it looks like the sun will be setting earlier than usual.

We walked the long pathway to reach the school’s main gate, I think we walked for ten minutes, me and Rona were busy chatting with each other so we didn’t really notice.

The gadget repair shop is just nearby, we just needed to cross the road and that's it, in front of our school.

“Your tablet is soaked and looks like you didn’t dry it right away Miss, don’t you want to just swap it to us, it looks old and very used.” Said by the technician who’s checking on my tablet.

I slowly shook my head. “That has a sentimental value, it’s important for me.” I lied, as a deepdiver I already mastered lying so other people won’t know about us, deepdivers.

But I’m not always lying, I’m just lying when I need to, just white lies and I make sure that it won’t affect the people around me.

Master advised us that we should keep our identity a secret as a deepdiver because of the danger we might face one day for having too much information about politicians and some syndicates that we got from deepweb.

“Oh, okay,” the technician responded and wrote a receipt. “We’re going to change some parts of it. It’ll be re-format too, and also it will take some days to get this fixed,” he continued and gave me the receipt.

I paid them and put the receipt in my wallet. “It’s okay, I’ll get it by next Friday, same time.”

He just nodded his head as a response and he started disassembling my tablet, we bid our goodbye as a respect and then we went back to Saint Augustine.

“Are you going home?” Rona asked as soon as we came back to Saint Augustine.

“Nope,” I said and shook my head. “I’ll just go home when Sage visits me here. How about you?”

“I’ll go home after we eat our dinner, I’m sorry you’ll be left alone in our dorm, I really need to come home this weekend.”

I smiled and gently pressed her hand. “It’s okay, it’s actually a good thing since I can have the dorm all by myself and there’s no nosy person that’ll disturb me from studying.”

“Wow, you're hurting my feelings,” she jokingly hit me and laughed.

We’re busy goofing around with each other that we didn’t realize there’s a car coming in our direction, it’s heading out from our school and the speed is kinda fast.

We become dazed when we realize it. I can’t move my body and my heart is about to jump out from my chest.

The car stopped just an inch away from us, the driver got down on his car immediately.

I stagger as I feel my knees get weak. I inhaled air to pull myself together because I didn’t realize I’m holding my breath and I saw Rona do the same.

I really thought that we’re going to be hit by the car, it’s our fault also cause we’re busy goofing around and forgot that the road is not ours.

“Are you hurt? Do you want me guys to bring you to the hospital?” The driver asked and checked if we’re okay.

“Ah yes, we’re okay and we’re sorry too.” I nervously answered him as I still feel my heart beating fast.

His bluish eyes landed on me checking if I’m saying the truth before he faced Rona.

“We’re okay Sir, we’re so sorry about what happened,” Rona said while scratching her head that it made me confused. Sir?

The man smiled, “I’m sorry too, and again, sorry but I need to go now I’m in a hurry. If something happened, let me know and just give me a visit in my office.” He said before leaving us and immediately drove his car away.

“Who is he? Why did you call him Sir?” I asked Rona with evident curiosity in my voice.

She faced me with a blushing face, “Yvan Mortem Aronzaga, the older brother and the only sibling of Yshmael. He’s also the one who’s managing our school. Handsome right? He’s also a good guy!” She said excitedly and she looks like she’s convulsing.

I shook my head, well, I can’t blame her. I saw him for a short moment only, but I can say that he really is a handsome man and he has a well built body, and if my guess is right, he looks the same age as Sage or just a few years older than him.

“Klutz.”

Me and Rona simultaneously looked at the person who just spoke.

It’s Yshmael and his friends.

Ever since he accompanied me in the clinic and escorted me to our dorm I saw him just a few times since then, it’s because I got confined inside our dorm and that’s a good thing for me because I really feel uneasy whenever he’s around or near me.

“Hello!” Kalvin greeted us, I gave him a crooked smile and nodded.

Yshmael just raised his eyebrow at me and looked at my feet before shaking his head and passing us by.

“Asshole,” I can’t help uttering loudly.

They stopped.

“What did you say?” I heard him ask, I can also hear the laughter that Kalvin was trying to suppress.

Rona held my hand and she’s pulling me to stop me from what I’m going to do but I ain’t budging.

I looked at him with my eyebrow raised too. “Asshole.” I repeat what I just said to him earlier. I can now hear Kalvin’s laugh and even Greyson who always has a poker face is smiling too.

I didn’t wait for his answer and immediately pulled Rona with me to get away from them.

Way to go Maelanie, we won today! I said in my mind.

I heard Rhosean. When I looked back at her, she was holding the baseball bat. She slammed it with all her might on the glass box hanging on the wall. She took a bow there.
