"Run!" Layla shouted as she jumped on the hunter who was about to stab August's back.

August whirled in a swift, hyperventilating from the sudden action. "Layla get away from him."

"Are you crazy? Run now! I'll hold him off for awhile." Layla snarled at the hunter who only wanted to shed the blood of any kind of wolf and stabbed on her leg.

"Layla!" August growled, throwing the hunter far in the woods as he collided against the tree but not enough to knock him out.

"Get out now!" August commanded to Layla but she didn't budge.

"You won't turn into your wolf form so why should I get out? You're the one in more danger. Go before he comes back again. Go!" Layla growled lowly at him, not backing down from a fight.

After all, Layla resided from a Alpha family that she still withholds the power of stubbornness or ego of Alphas.

August pursed his lips, understanding her reason because he truly wasn't gonna let his wolf shift into their wolf form. Why? He was scared that Hunters will easily take control over him.

"You better make it out alive." August muttered before he gave a final glance to her wolf form and ran as far as possible from them.

"August! Where's Layla?" Caleb asked as he helped the kids of their small pack, hide.

"She's fighting off with a Hunter. Told me to run away while she holds him off." August mumbled, feeling guilty for his rash decision for listening to her order.

"Okay, get these kids inside them. We'll only hide them till these Hunters go away." Caleb said, opening the bark of the tree, leading into hidden passage.

"When was this here?" August asked, curious as he helped the kid slid in.

"One of the kids found it and turns out, it a tunnel leading to the city manhole. We can keep them safe here for the while." Caleb explained helping off others who had decided to hide while the others ran away.

"What do you want me to do?" August asked, feeling useless.

Caleb patted his shoulder, walking past him. "Run from here. I'll go get Layla and we meet up at the shore."

August didn't want to leave him just like the way he did to Layla but they were right. Plus, he couldn't be of any help if he stayed up with them when he wasn't gonna fight.

"Okay. I'll see you both at the shore." Before August began his run, he hugged Caleb, whispering to him. "Alive."

Caleb nodded, humming as they broke off the embrace and shifted into his black stripes with silver fur wolf form.

August shot a survey around the area before jumping on his feet and running with full speed to the way of shore.

He heard the howls echoing in the woods and he figured that he had to increase the speed of his sprinting.

"Let me shift for at least this, August." Dagger resquested, pleading.

"No, Dag. We'll get caught if we shift. You remember what happened last time." August denied, focusing on running as fast as he could even if his legs would give away.

"But we're too slow! It wouldn't hurt to shift." Dagger was right in his case and he was only looking out for August.

But August wasn't ready to listen to his heeds. The only stubbornness he showed was against his wolf. He had formed a scar for anything bad that happened with them and he wasn't going to allow his wolf jeopardize their life.

Dagger gave up knowing August would listen to him even though he's right. He pushed himself a little out to help August with his gaze at midnight.

August's eyes flickered to Hazelnut brown, reflecting the city lights that were ahead of them. Once he make it to the city, all he has to do is blend in with the people till he gets to the shore where they catch the ship to leave this country.

"Get back Dagger. They can sense you if you do this." August made it hard for Dagger to cope up as he pushed him back.

Dagger felt his presence wasn't welcomed and blocked August. Though Dagger was tough, the rough past left him with insecure feelings that he didn't realize of gaining. Only August knew what he felt but would at times ignore it.

All dagger wished for was a mate to umderstand him too and to teach August what he was doing was wrong.

Because certainly, Dagger was right that they needed more speed and on the way to city before he could even reach it, August's body was thrown into a tree.

There stood a black rogue with red eyes glaring at him. The rogue was fully in control of the Hunters so there was no way August could make it out from here in his human form.

Yet his stubbornness was overpowering the more practical and understandable option to choose during this situation. Dagger gave up on persuading him and let him do his thing.

Only thing that displayed the Alpha's power in August was he didn't waver from his firm decision. But that too was a wrong one and his stubbornness was eating him up every minute passing by.

The rogue didn't wait for him to move and leaped over him. August hurriedly dodged him, falling on his back and rolling out to the exit of the woods.

He jumped on his feet, standing in the middle of the highway road and jerking his head on either sides of the road for any vehicle driving their way.

He saw the lights of the truck speeding towards them who was immersed in his singing and sloppily driving in the night.

August took this an opportunity to knock off the rogue so he can't kill him. He glanced at the rogue before back at the truck who hadn't notice their presence.

August whistled to the rogue, who shook it's head and growled with his razor sharp teeth glimpse at the corner of his mouth.

"Come and get me, hunter's pet." August shouted at him, provoking the anger in him.

Rogues were an easy weapon to use against the reputed wolves as they never listened to anyone's orders and now that they are being ordered to kill a specific being and are in control of someone they despise of, their anger helped it to make them a killing machine.

So there was no hope of finding a way to save them and no one had found a cure to the liquid Hunters injected into them.

The rogue jumped over him, right at the moment when the truck drove close to August and he hastily moved out of the way.

The truck kicked the rogue, driving it along with it as it rolled down in it's tyres.

"We can still get out from here." He mumbled, looking at the rogue who was shredding into pieces.

The truck came to halt over the weird bumpiness he witnessed and hopped off the seat.

August took this chance to run to the city but as he turned his back to the forest, a gun shot echoed in the wallow and shot a injecting pin on August's nape.

Darkness chirped on its glowing half-moon day with the grasshoppers hopping in the wild grass and hard to spot.Rather than attending to the orders that Amora had to take care of, she was off by the corner, taking care of August whose name she hadn't learned yet.It was itching for her to wake him up harshly. If it weren't for his slow breathing, Pae was up to discard his body and intrigued to be a partner in crime to Amora's.As much as Amora wanted to approve of the idea, she had refused to bury him before making sure he really did die."What if the boy doesn't wake up?" Pae asked, wiping the blood off Amora's face. She pushed the cloth but not too roughly, scrunching her nose in revulsion."The boy will wake up. It must be because of the smell." Amora muttered, unsure of his time out from the interaction with the world."If he doesn't, the offer is still up," Pae whispered, stepping back in an instant.Amora whirled back, squeaking.

She was a black woman with a curvaceous figure and a pale yellow bandana wrapp

August removed the tranquilizer he's been hit with and threw it away, glancing back at the woods that took precedence over the appealing and mysterious look it always gave. Now it was a place where thousands of them died and all that could be heard were the cries of help and sorrow. There wasn't the usual chirpiness or the beam that let the tenderness sink in through the pathway of the trees. It was now a maze to death. If one wolf gets lost in there, there's no way he will come back out alive.August could make out Hunter's figure that had possibly shot him. In all that darkness surrounded him like a blanket, he could make out the smirk that had a slight glint. It wasn't the teasy or amused smirk but a mischievous, deathly smirk that could run chills down the spine."Take cover." Dagger suggested. He was the first to feel the effect of the tranquilizer kicking in

Leaves rustled against the rough breeze flowing in the windy day with the sun gazing it's rays lightly over the earth's land.August woke up to the light beam falling over his eyes. That single beam warmed him from the coldness and darkness that he's been leading into for years. That one ray of hope made his sleep better and didn't wake him up from his long gone sweet slumber that can be hardly acquired these days.'If only I could keep on staying here and staring at the city which only looked beautiful, is now so scary and dangerous.' August thought, sitting up straight against the bark of the tree. His legs that were criss crossed over the branch he's taken space over, let them fall freely on the either side of the branch. His palm opened, the ray of sun hitting on the inside of his palm felt like cobering him with a warm blanket over the things he had done with this palm of his

He believed that the world was only known for the give and take.If you cant give, you're a nobody. If you can't take, you're too weak. The Alpha was intrigued by his sense of thinking at such an age. The world is changing for sure but what could possibly be so hard to once truly believe that the legends were left as a lesson. Why was he different?"Caleb, come here boy." The Alpha softly called him, extending his hand to him."I don't want to." The boy named Caleb declined his offer."Why not? Com'on, it'll be fun to hear Grandma's stories." The Alpha tried to pursue but the boy didn't waver. He sighed, crouching down to his level as the boy
