Chapter Eight

After dropping Kayla home,I proceeded to drive to my penthouse.Arriving there I took off all my clothes and had a long relaxing bath while thinking about the lunch with my mum.It went well,surprisingly,my mum is someone who doesn't easily associate well with people, don't get me wrong,she is nice and all but the way she just clicked and started conversing with Kayla amazed me because it normally took her a long time before she freely associated with people but apart from that I was thrilled that she has started reacting to her drugs and therapy.Wrapping myself with a towel I went to my room and dressed in a sweatpant and left my torso bare,and headed to my house office where I did my office duties if I fail to make it to the office any day,sitting down I began to sort the files Miss Kayla sent to me.Ring Ring Ring
Picking up the phone I see Kyle's name flashing on my screening,swiping to the green icon I put the phone to my ear.
"My man how are you"I heard Kyle's voice through the phone."I was doing well before you called"I answered him continuing sorting the files and working on my presentation to Mr Adams."Liam why do you have to be so rude huh can't you be nice to me for once"he whined through the phone once again distracting me from the important task in hand."Kyle if you don't tell me why you called me this late at night I'm so hanging up on you"I said."You wouldn't dare do that to your best friend"he said.
"Kyle"I warned."Okay okay I called to ask you how the lunch with your mum went,is she doing better now"he asked."Yeah she is and the most amazing thing is that..."I said telling him about mum and Kayla.
"Woah you took your assistant to lunch with your mum"he exclaimed."Was that the only thing you got out of everything I just said,you are unbelievable"
"Well the Liam I know doesn't let anyone except friends and families near his mother.What happened to him huh?"He was right though I barely let anyone close to my mum,after what that monster of a man who calls himself my father did to her,except close family friends or relatives,so taking Kayla must be a surprise to him but I swear I only took her for business nothing else,right?"(A/N:Dude ask yourself that not me cause I don't know too😂)
"We planned on going to another meeting so I suggested she came along nothing else Kyle"I said still sorting the files.
"Okay Liam nothing else"he said more like snickered.Grunting I hanged up the phone and got back to preparing for the meeting tomorrow.
An hour later,I was ready to call it a night,shutting the laptop I rose and headed to my room which was opposite my office.Getting in I lay in bed and sleep off.
Next day
Waking up to the alarm clock I quickly put it off and went to the bathroom to do my morning routine.After that I dressed up in a black Armani suit with a pair of black shoes,grabbing my suitcase I head downstairs to see Jeremy,my driver ready.
"Good morning sir"he said."Good morning Jeremy,how was your night"I ask,Jeremy is someone I classify as a family friend cause I have known him since I was a boy,I've told him countless of times that he should stop working as my driver and that I'll keep on paying him but he has refused several times so I just let him but I try my best to reduce his work load.
"Where too sir?"he asked while getting into the car."Jeremy how many times do I have to tell you to stop addressing me as sir huh?".
"Sorry sir...I mean Liam"he said while smiling sheepishly returning his smile I enter the car telling Jeremy the address to the restaurant we are having the meeting at.
Arriving at the restaurant I take one last glance at the proposal before alighting the car.Entering into the building I see no sign of Mr Adams nor Miss Kayla,I order some coffee while awaiting them seeing as I am 20 minutes early.
Ten minutes later I see no sign of Miss Kayla and she was with the documents needed for the contract.I pick up my phone to dial her number but to no avail,looking outside I see Mr Adams already heading in.
Where the heck is this girl?

Kayla's POVI am so late due to no one else but me but if you ask me it's not my fault that in hopes of getting a good sleep I put off my phone and turned off my alarm but unfortunately this resulted me in having to rush off to work,miss breakfast and having to stand here face downwards being reprimanded and cautioned by Mr Liam.In my defence I didn't know that there would be an emergency meeting,shaking my head I look up to see Mr Liam,face set in a glare looking at his phone, at this moment I feel bad for the phone due to the intensity of the stare on it. Still looking at him I notice his expressions changing from that of annoyance and frustration to thatof shock and fear.My guess is that Kyle noticed his expressions because he rushed towards him,still looking at them I notice that they converse for a while before the both sprinted out of the room leaving me and the rest of the staffs shocked

Liam's POVThere is something awfully annoying when you are being woken up by a phone call,an irrelevant one at that.That's exactly what happened to me,I was drawn out of sleep by my phone ringing picking it up I realized it was from the office,there was supposedly an emergency,an investor from another country just showed up and I had to go see him. The meeting was supposed to be next week but he got here earlier and now I had to go take care of that putting aside important plans I made to spend the day with mum.Already dressed and prepared I get into my car after kissing mum bye and sending a quick text to Kayla,since I've been calling her but it has been going straight to voice mail.Driving out of the garage I head towards the direction of the office reaching there in about fifteen minutes,hoping out of the car I enter into the building going straight towards the conference room where the important

Kayla's POVToday was finally Saturday a day where I have the chance to sleep in and not be tired out by Mr Liam, but that just had to be ruined by Noah who at first woke me upearlier than usual for a Saturday morning and he just had to promise Evan that he would take him to the park which of course I had to go to because Evan apparently wanted me with him but I don't blame him I haven't had any time to spend with him ever since I got this job because by the time I'm back home I'm always so tired that I just hop in bed sometimes without even having dinner.So here I was fully dressed,fed and ready to too by 8:00am because Evan wanted to spend a lot of time at the park so the earliest the better.Grabbing the basket I already filled with lunch and a couple of sandwiches and some bottled water I enter into the passenger seat having put Evan at the back with Noah at the driver seat.

Liam's POVLooking over to this clock on the wall I see it's five minutes past five in the morning. Getting up I head downstairs to the gym to do some workouts. Reaching there I hop on the treadmill and start working it.About an hour later I think,I'm totally sweaty and hungry from the intense exercises. Going to the kitchen I see Kyle already munching on food,grabbing my plate I serve myself some eggs coupled with bacon and an orange juice.Setting it down I see Kyle staring at me weirdly.Frowning I ask him what the matter is but he just shakes his head, shrugging I pay no heed to him.When done with the food I thank Benjamin the chef for the wonderful food and I go upstairs to take a shower and head over to my mum's house.After thirty minutes I'm done with my shower and I dress in a comfortable casual wear before heading to my car.On my way to my mum's house I rece

Liam's POVTurning the car around I head out of her street to the road and I grab my ringing phone. Picking up the call without checking the name I put the phome to my ear and say"Hello"to the person on the phone."Hey man"I hear and I instantly recognize the person on the phone."Hey Kyle" I reply"Dude I'm fine,you've got to come over right now I've got something to tell you"he says.Knowing Kyle I'm sure it's something very irrelevant he wants to talk to me about,but anyways I've got nothing to lose plus Kyle's chef makes the best food.Answering him with a yes I proceed to hang up and turn the car to the direction of his house.In about twenty minutes I'm at his house and the heavy rain has subdued to a mild drizzle,coming out of the car I walk up to the door and ring the bell waiting for someone to open the door.After ringing the bell twice I'm finally welcomed in by a pajamas clad
