Chapter 38 A Kiss

Autor: A Sleeve Full Of Cloud
Sarah tried to push Jon away but what happened next was completely the opposite of what she had intended. Jon finally moved away from her lips. However, he carried her into his arms abruptly and threw her down onto the bed in the next few seconds.

The rustling of the bed sheet against the clothes caused Sarah to tense up.

“Isn’t this what you’re looking forward to when you yearn for me to come home every day?”

The contempt in Jon’s tone had disgusted Sarah. However, was he wrong about how she looked forward to his return every day?

Jon’s slender fingers that wrapped around her chin tightly were hurting her.

Sarah intended to turn her head away but she could not struggle from his grip. She felt a heavy weight on her mouth all of a sudden. Jon’s slightly cold lips were pressing firmly down on hers again.

He forced his tongue in and a faint taste of alcohol spread around the inside of her mouth.

It was only until then that she realized he had been drinking earlier.

Jon’s deep-set eyes appeared bright in the darkness but they were not filled with sexual desire at all.

He was glaring at Sarah until her eyes were misted over with tears.

“Feel like crying now? Where was the courage you had when you were asking out random guys earlier?” Jon’s soft voice broke the silence in the air.

Sarah could not think properly at the moment but she returned the deathly stare nonetheless. “That’s none of your business. But what about you? It surprises me that you have the cheek to claim to be my elder!”

Jon froze in his tracks.

She seized the opportunity to push him away and sat up straight in the bed.

Someone was pounding on the door. Perhaps Whitney had come to realize the strange turns of the event. Her voice rang from the other side of the door. “Sarah? Are you alright?”

The pounding became more aggressive when there was no reply…

Jon could discern the humiliation in Sarah’s eyes. For reasons unknown to himself, he felt terrible all of a sudden and an intense frustration filled his heart.

Sarah opened the door and dashed outside right away.

She could not be bothered to explain herself to Whitney, who appeared visibly confused. She only wanted to leave this place immediately.

……

Sarah had left her coat in the hotel. The wind was howling and the cold wind seeped through the knitted jumper on her body, sending a piercing cold sensation down to her bones.

Shivering, she hailed a taxi at the hotel entrance.

She was just opening the taxi door when a hand appeared behind her to slam the door shut.

The taxi driver looked over his shoulder. “Are you coming or not?”

“No, thanks!”

Sarah turned around when she heard Jon’s voice…

Her eyes were red and puffy. She threw the purse in her hands toward Jon as several drops of tears landed on the back of her hands. “I know you came here today to ridicule me. You showed up anyway despite knowing it’s me…”

Jon remained silent. Then, he held the girl into his arms tightly and directed her toward his car.

……

An unusual silence filled the car throughout the ride.

Jon did not reveal much emotion on his face when he smoked three cigarettes consecutively in silence. Sarah, on the other hand, leaned her head against the car window without uttering a word.

The scenery on the outside moved backward rapidly. Sarah’s brain was teeming with a tangle of emotions that she could barely sort out.

The images of Jon’s emotionless face when he kissed her came flooding into her mind. The coldness in his eyes made her eerily uncomfortable. He had succeeded if he was intending to intimidate her. However, why was Sarah also experiencing a little bit of disappointment apart from anger?

Several moments later, Jon squeezed the cigarette into the ashtray without looking at her, his attention remained fixed on the road ahead. “Don’t do stupid things like this in the future if you still have a sense of danger.”

Sarah turned her face away from him upon detecting the sarcasm in his voice.

Xijing Villa.

Sarah approached her room and slammed the door shut right in front of Jon’s eyes.

The man stood on the other side of the door for a while. His expression was as still as water when he turned to head into his room eventually.

……

Sarah barely got any sleep tonight.

She was sitting alone on the bed, constantly replaying the events that had happened in the hotel earlier today.

She could still feel the taste of Jon’s mouth on her lips.

He was different from Henry. The latter preferred kissing with his eyes open. His movements soft and gentle, his gaze affectionate, causing Sarah to lose herself in his kiss every single time. Jon was the entire opposite of that. Not only was he not gentle but his piercing gaze was also filled with warning. She became annoyed again at the thought of this…

……

Sarah woke up unusually early the next morning.

Aunt Wren could not hide her surprise when she discovered the girl coming out of the room with a small suitcase dragging behind her. “Miss Grove, where are you going?”

Sarah walked past Aunt Wren without replying. “Bang, bang.” The suitcase made some loud noise being dragged down the stairs.

Jon, who was having his breakfast in the dining room, turned to the source of the commotion.

Weariness was written all over his face. He still had not changed out of the dark blue pajamas, the food on his plate had not been touched either. However, the cup of coffee next to his hand was almost emptied. There was also a cigarette wedged between his two fingers.

The others could not discern his expression behind the white puffs of smoke.

Pretending not to notice Jon’s gaze, the girl exaggerated her actions deliberately.

Aunt Wren ran down the stairs to chase after her. “Miss Grove, Second Young Master mentioned that he’s your only relative in Lin City. Where would you go if you leave here? Aren’t you here for the wedding? Why are you leaving before the ceremony even takes place?”

“It doesn’t concern me if he’s getting married or not. Aunt Wren, please don’t get in my way.”

With that, Sarah dragged the suitcase behind her and headed for the door.

Aunt Wren tried convincing her several times but it was to no avail. She looked back to seek assistance from Jon.

Jon behaved somewhat differently today. He witnessed the incident nonchalantly, rose to his full height, and pressed the cigarette into the ashtray.

Aunt Wren heaved a sigh of relief when Jon finally responded.

The former thought initially that Jon was going to change the girl’s mind, which was why she was completely shocked by the words that came out from his mouth. “Let her go…”

Even Sarah froze in her actions, not knowing how to react all of a sudden.

Aunt Wren intended to persuade the man again but he was already heading up the stairs in big strides.

He turned around before disappearing up the stairs. He landed his gaze on Sarah’s face although he was speaking to Aunt Wren. “Indeed, it’s not appropriate for her to stay here anymore…”

With that, he continued walking toward the second floor.

Sarah bit down on her lip and stayed there motionless for a brief moment. Tears began to well up in her eyes when she realized Jon could simply cast her away like an unwanted burden…

……

Sarah was standing by the crossroad alone with the suitcase next to her after leaving Xijing Villa. She had no idea where to go.

Her face was red with anger thanks to Jon.

She lifted her suitcase almost effortlessly. There were not many clothes in there because she only intended to put on a show. She did not expect Jon would kick her out of the house.

She looked back to stare at the villa in rage. “So what? I can’t be bothered to see your ugly face either. You don’t even matter to me!”

Must you do it right now?”The girl pushed the door wide open, ignoring her grandpa’s concern.…… To say that Shadwin Residence was massive was an understatement. Sarah knew that it would take some time for Jon to reach the main gate. She took a shortcut by skipping the small-scale golf course and dashed for the back door right away.Shadwin Residence was a manor-style villa that occupied a large land area in the shape of an oblique triangle. If Sarah left through the back door, she would reach the side road that led to the main road in a short linear distance. She picked up her pace and began running in the end. Her brain was teeming with tangle thoughts that she could barely sor

Two days before Chinese New Year, Jaclyn was shouting angrily at her agent in the corridor of Central Hospital.“Are you being serious? I’m a public figure and they’ve just violated my privacy. That’s illegal!”Vivian, the agent, appeared in a dilemma. She endured the reproach before trying to advise the other woman, “Elder Sister Jaclyn, please try to calm down. I’ve told my friend about this but he mentioned that it’s really out of his control. Although we live in a world of technology, you have thousands upon thousands of fans thus this might be inappropriate…”Jaclyn’s facial features twisted but she stood her ground. “What do you mean that it’s inappropriate?
