Lashes of Love

Emma’s POV 

Have you ever reached a point in life where you just wished that you could die because of the endless trials you go through? 

I was born out of wedlock the day I was born my mother left me in the hospital alone running away with her new lover whom she didn’t want to know that she was pregnant at least that’s what my unless Aunt told me when I used to live in her house. 

After her boyfriend tried to take advantage of me when I was seven years old, I told her about it but she threw me out accusing me of trying to seduce her man

For the next six years of my life, I never lived with someone for over three months, they all would treat me like trash or their partners would try to rape me with an exception of Mrs. Warren and her husband, those two we’re angels sent from heaven.  

They found me when I was only 13 years old when I was trying to steal food. 

 They took me in, fed me, and gave me an education but before I could even finish my education, they both died leaving me to fend for myself again after their families took everything. 

For 8 years I had forgotten how it felt like to look for money or food. I started working as a waitress a year ago, but three months ago they fired me because they were hiring “Fresh blood” as the manager had put it.  What the fuck?  I was only 22 years old. Now I risk being back on the street again.

Third person’s POV

“I have had enough, Emma!  It’s excuse after excuse!  You have not paid your rentals for months now! If you can’t pay then get out of my house!” The landlady shouted at Emma for failing to pay her rentals, 

It had been three months since she lost her job and now had no source of income. She tried so much to find money, but nothing was happening;

“MS.  Lloyd, please just give me some time I promise to pay you everything,” Emma pleaded with her, but the woman had enough of Emma’s excuses. 

“No Emma!  I want my money by the end of the day or you can leave!” She yelled, making her way out of the room Emma rented. Emma looked at her as she left, she tried to stay strong by fighting back the tears but it was not helping her as she whimpered falling to the ground. She tried these past few weeks to find the money.

She did not realize that time had gone when she heard a loud bang on the door. “Emma! Open the door” Her friend Caitlyn knocked hard on the door for her to open up.

Emma dragged herself off the ground, going towards the door to see what Caitlyn wanted. She wiped her tears as she went to open the door.

“What the Fuck are you doing in the dark?” Caitlyn asked Emma, who was not interested in hearing what her friend wanted to say.

“What happened here?” Caitlyn asked, seeing all these things on the ground after she turned on the lights.

“What do you think happened? Ms. Lloyds wants me to move out if I don’t pay her all her money by the end of the day,” Emma said picking up a few things from the ground.

“Wow! That’s… Um,” Caitlyn failed to say anything, brushing her hair back as she looked at her friend.

“Emma, I have told you! You can make money and you wouldn’t be suffering here like this,” Caitlyn tried to convince her friend as she looked at her from hair to toe.

“And I told you I don’t plan on dancing naked in front of horny men so I can survive,” Emma replied and her friend just shrugged her shoulders going to sit on the bed

“Then where do you plan on going! Because definitely, she’s coming to throw you out,” Caitlyn said to her friend.

“I know all right? I will think of something!” Emma replied. Without even taking much time they heard a knock on the door, “Emma open up!” her landlady had come back 

“Emma!” She shouted and Emma walked there to open the door, she only unlocked it when two men came in 

“Throw her out of my building” Ms. Lloyds shouted instructing the men, Emma rushed to her pleading to let her stay and that she will settle the bills nicely 

“I told you, Emma! Give me my money or you can leave,” She said as she freed herself from Emma’s grip.

“How much is her bill?”  Caitlyn asked the landlady 

“$900 plus interest” the landlady replied

“Okay! I will pay you your money, let her stay I will pay for whatever she owes you,” Caitlyn said to her taking out some money from her wallet.

“That’s a thousand dollars! Am sure you that’s more than enough” Caitlyn said to the landlady who grabbed the money from her and came out of the house.

“Thank you!” Emma said to Caitlyn after everyone had left

“Don’t thank me because you will work for that money” Caitlyn said to her friend making her way out of the room.

“No problem! I can wait on tables or something,” Emma thought to herself. She didn’t know that the next thing she will do was far worse than pole dancing in a club. 

She didn't realize this was the beginning of the wrong choices she will ever have to make in her life.

"I will get going now, see you at the club tomorrow," Caitlyn said to Emma as she walked away

"See you!" She waved at Caitlyn who was busy nodding her head.

What exactly did she get herself into?  Emma wondered after Caitlyn had left. she had to survive but hopefully, she didn't have to do what her friend has been doing. Sleeping with men for money?  I will never do that in my life. Emma thought to herself
