"Lola! ", I heard my mum shout from the kitchen, I hope I wasn't gonna get in trouble again, she's been acting a little cranky lately, I guess she's been fighting with Daddy again. "Lola" I heard my name again, I'm in for it this time, I rolled my eyes and got out of bed....

"Yes mummy, I'm here" I answered calmly,

"Madam good morning o" She greeted with a very sarcastic tone. Gosh! I didn't greet her this morning, that means trouble.

Oh... I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Lola Gregg, I'm Nigerian, Yoruba to be precise and as it is in a typical African home, respect to elders is very important, we'll talk about my family later, let's get on with the issue at hand(sigh...)

"Mummy I'm so sorry" I apologised quickly and went on my knees to say"Good morning ma" , She softened up a little and replied

"Clean up the kitchen please, it's messed up" She ordered "You slept in, I didn't want to disturb you , so I cooked but next time you'll do the cooking" She said dryly

"Yes mummy, I'm sorry" I said and gave her a hug, she smiled. My mum throws a lot of tantrums, I know, but she's still a very kind and sweet person and I love her a whole lot.

I cleaned up the kitchen and went on to have breakfast with mum and dad. "Good morning daddy" I genuflected while greeting(a sign of respect in our culture).

"Morning ,my dear" He responded, "How was your night? " He asked, "It was okay, daddy" I replied and we went on to have breakfast , chipping in short conversations.I cleared the plates right after.

Daddy left for the office and mummy left too, shortly afterwards, I was left alone to think about plans for my future.

As you know, I'm Lola, I'm 24 years old, just graduated from a prestigious private university with a second class upper in business administration.

My father Ademola Benson Gregg, owns one of the largest firms in the country, he's a very hard working man, a workaholic,to say the least.

My mum, Felicia Gregg, a top official in a prestigious oil firm, she also owned chains of businesses.

Of course,I have three siblings, my eldest brother Travis, the first born, he lives in Canada with his wife and kids, the other one Grey, a playboy,he lives in Abuja, the capital city.

And my only sister who's just about two years older,  Laila, she's away on a trip in Dubai, I hope she comes back soon, I'm bored whenever she isn't around.

Being the "baby of the house", as they fondly call me is really frustrating, I have to live up to my parents' and siblings' expectations.

The normal cycle in my home was go to school, study the course of our parents' choice and get a job in a firm in relation to your course of study. My parents were very influential so it wasn't much of a big deal getting jobs for my siblings . But I wanted something more than just sitting behind a desk all day, I wanted to do something I love but my parents won't let me.

I'm not the outgoing type, you could say I'm an introvert, not exactly though.

I called up my best friend Tana, we've been friend since childhood, I'm lucky to have her. She's been here for me, through both good and bad times, we fight sometimes duh who doesn't? But I love her all the same, she's a psycho, don't tell her I said that .

"Hey, Sisi "she said in her usual manner she's picked up so quickly, see why I love her!.

" Hey... " I said with a sigh, I was feeling sad again, "what's up with you, you are thinking again, aren't you? " She gushes over the phone before I can say a word.

"Girl...just put yourself together, you'll get through this" "I'm coming over and we're going out, I don't want you pulling a sad face around with me, okay? " Tana said again.

"Yes ma'am, you won't even let me say a word" I sigh, feeling relieved already. Tana is simply the best!!. "Keep quiet and wait for me Sisi, see ya in a bit" She said making me laughing before hanging up.

Twenty minutes later she's at my house, forcing me to dress up and head out with her, despite my pleas. What do so with this girl?!

Ever sat down wondering what your "big day"would be like? That's what I was almost doing when my name boomed from across the room that Saturday morning. Of course it was my sister's wedding day. She was so tensed up that I felt the same way for her. If there's such a thing as one being worried on another's behalf then I was in that position. It was 9am and we were supposed to be at the church by 10am for the service but someone spent her morning getting all emotional cuddling with mum who was comforting her.I had never seen her that way before.Wedding jitters are sure scaryDad came in as mom beckoned him to, while she was snuggled up against my sister."Having second thoughts?" He asked with an arched eyebrow in a cold tone that sent shivers down my spine, I'm sure the same happened to Laila as she sat up immediately wiping her tears

The house was bustling with activity that Thursday morning, I was trying to not be languid in any activity I engaged myself as I hardly had any sleep the previous night."Aunty Lola, grandma said you should come and keep some fried meat for grandpa" Tobi said to me eagerly, he was obviously excited about the errand as he would have a taste of the delicacy."Oh" I groaned inwardly,Where do they want me to put it now?It was like my nephew had read my thoughts"She said you should put inside this cooler" Ayo jumped out of nowhere startling me"And put it in their bedroom" Arinola completedIt's like you people practiced this thingI frowned at the thought of climbing the stairs over and over again. "Good day sir" Grey greeted dad prostrating. There was a plastered smile on his face, I could tell it was because of the lady by his side. He isn't exactly cold as Travis but he's not very jovial, in fact, none of us were jovial when it came to Dad.Sad... Isn't it? "My son, how are you?"Seriously though, he has to call him "my son"?Does he have to do everything to spite Travis?God epp us o..."I'm fine Dad"Mum came in just before Dad could say anything else, with a small smile playing on her lips."Mummy good afternoon" Grey said still with that plastered smileWhat's doing this one? all because of woman, mtcheww"Femi..." ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤So... Before we knew it, we found ourselves the Greggs mansion. The place was getting really busy already.Wedding wahalaI groaned inside of me as I thought of all the teasing I would get, with everyone wanting me to get married. I was sure, they'd start asking for my boyfriend in fact.Typical of Nigerians to poke their noses into other people's business. No one ever asked Grey about marriage because he's a guy and according to them, He's just 29. Seriously though, that's unfair. He's free to have all the wild fun while I have to pestered, almost on a daily basis about my relationship status.I'm just 24 nau!Tanya's parents never put pressure on her for anything. But in my family it's the exact opposite, they coerced us into doing almost everything concerning our lives. Rebellion would be a major struggle but I was con

It's finally Saturday!oh what a feeling! No work, just chores.. Ugh"Wait for it... In three, two, one.... ""Tolani!!,Titilola!!" Mummy couldn't sit with the fact that we we didn't have anything doing, as we had finished up our chores for the morning. But it is typical of Nigerian mothers to dig up house chores at the slightest hint of inactivity from her children.Trust me it's exhausting to have her around."Coming mummy!" Laila yelled pulling me along with her, down the stairs.#Sister goals, I know right"Ehen, it's good you're here" Mom said, "I just fixed an appointment with the person who'll design your dress, she said she'll be here next Thursday, so you might have to leave w
