Cherish Crawford

                Cherish grew up as the daughter of  the highest respected dragon alfa in their history and the daughter of a half witch/ half wolf. That left the question of what she would be. At two years old, she wasn’t worried. Her parents, on the other hand, questioned this every day. Austin, her father, worried more than anyone else. Her mother, Nicole, was told not to stress herself out. Nicole was pregnant with Cherish’s baby brother. She was four months along and was already showing. Austin was more concerned with her second pregnancy than her first. Especially since she was also taking care of Cherish now, too. Austin helped when he could, she was being bottle fed now, so it was easier now. The omegas helped put a lot and Andrea’s sister, Bethany, was hired as a nanny.

Nicole watched Cherish grow everyday and she hated that she looked more and more like her daddy. The only difference was, her hair was more red than his. She had his eyes, though, so it made her beauty stand out even as a toddler. She predicted she was going to be a dragon like her father. She talked to her mother often through some witch bond since she was now the coven leader. She updated her on Scarlet all the time and was sadden by the news of her death. With Pyter wanting vengeance, she understood why her mother was reluctant not to come back. Now that she was a mother, she understood. If she knew she was the only thing standing between her children and a threat, she would not leave until it was gone. Austin told her that if  Pyter would to come after her, the dragons would protect her. She didn’t think Pyter would come after her, but vampires were always unpredictable.

Austin became a bundle of nerves, now even more so that his father was coming out of a coma. He wouldn’t let anyone harm his family. He knew the rest of clan felt the same, but Fredrick was their former alfa. Jake told him that he betrayed his clan by selling them to the witches. They weren’t happy abut that. He was sure they would protect all of them with the best of their ability.

Currently, he was sitting in his office watching Cherish crawl around his floor. He enjoyed days like these when Nicole needed a break and he took Cherish to work with him. Andrea loved it to. She loved spoiling Cherish, especially since she just found out she was expecting  one of her own.

Cherish wanted for nothing. She had teo clans that saw to her every need, not to mention the King and Queen both sent her gifts. She was the first of her kind and all though it meant most were curious and wanted to know her better, pthers were threatened by her and wanted to wipe her out.

The day her brother, Kaleb, was born, was one of the worst days any of them rememeber. The rains were awful when the first way of them came through. Andrea sat by Nicole’s side as she pushed and Austin was outside defending against the vampires. In a flash before the fight started, they were gone. A woman walked up with James and Austin knew this was Lydia. He welcomed them into the hospital and Nicole cried as her mother was there. She loved Cherish and Kaleb both and stayed with them. James had passed leadership of the Immortal Alfa to another so he could be with his family.

Cherish’s life was now complete and she knew she and her brother would want for nothing.

Eight years later

Cherish sat in her grandmother’s house. The new coven house was here on dragon lands to symbolize the peace now between them. Her magic had been getting out of control. Kaleb was lucky that he didn’t have powers, but at eight, no one knew for sure. The twins, Alexandra and Alexander, were no where near ready to see what they held. The twins, after all, just turned four.

Lydia told her that her magic coming at such a young age was normal. Her losing control was probably the dragon. Cherish’s eyes already had an orange streak in her eyes when she was angry. Nicole knew she would be like her dad, but she was a dragon to. The future alfa of dragons would be a girl. Lydia sat and helped her control her magic everyday. Finally, she had no choice but to go Nicole. She found her in her office.

“Dear?”

“Mother. What is it?”

“I need to talk to you about Cherish.”

“What’s wrong?”

“It’s her magic. With her dragon out of control, her magic will be just as wild.”

“What do we do?”

“I want to do a spell that will lock her magic away. Just until she comes of age and gets her dragon under control, then we will pick up our lessons again.”

“I will speak to Austin about this.”

“Please do. Magic like hers that goes unchecked is dangerous not only for her but others as well.”

Nicole nodded her head and grabbed her phone. She called Andrea.

“My lady, what can I do for you?”

“What does his schedule look like today, Andrea?”

“Right now, he is in a meeting with the international affairs group with Jake. After that, he has to sign contracts and paperwork for for exports and imports. Then he has a conference call with the southern dragons. I know he has a meeting with his majesty and your parents about Lord Pyter this afternoon.”

“What are his open time slots?”

“Just one right after lunch. I think he said something about bringing Cherish to you.”

“Good. Please let him know I need to speak with him.”

“May I ask the urgency?”

“It cant wait until he gets home tonight.”

“Yes ma’am. I will let him know.”

“Thank you, Andrea.”

“You’re welcome, my lady.”

Nicole hung up ad looked at her mother. Her mother was looking at her curiously.

“You are not bothered that another woman runs your husband’s day?”

“Andrea is Jake’s mate.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. She and I have become close friends.”

“that’s good.”

“So about Lord Pyter?”

“I promise anything we talk about you will know about.”

“I don’t understand why I cant be there.”

“He knows we are having this meeting and might make an appearance. We know he wants you. Better to keep you safe.”

She signed, knowing her mother was right. She told her it would be a bit before Austin had an open slot and mother told her she would back. Kaleb and the twins came running in a few minutes afterward and ran up to her. Kaleb jumped in her lap first.

“Are we still going today, mother?”

“Of course. I told you when your father drops off Cherish.”

The kids groaned but soon started playing on the floor. Nicole mind linked Austin to find out when he was coming.

‘Hey honey, the kids are anxious to go.’

‘I’m heading over now, darling.’

‘Really?’

‘Yes. Andrea told me that you need me.’

‘Yes, but you didn’t have to cancel your meeting.’

‘It’s okay. Anything for you.’

She shook her and laughed. A few minutes later, she looked up due to a three screams of daddy. She smiled when she saw him and he came over to her while Cherish went to the floor with her siblings. Nicole smiled seeing them all together.

Austin sat on the edge of Nicole’s desk and looked at her curiosly.

“Nw, tell me what’s wrong.”

“My mother came to me today about Cherish.”

“What it is?”

“She thinks we should lock her magic away until her dragon is under control. She said her magic is getting out of control for her to handle.”

“Her magic is a part of her, like it is you.”

“I know. Which why she’ll have it again at a later time once she can control the dragon.”

“Mom?”

“Cherish. I didn’t know you were right there.”

“I want to do it.”

“Do what?”

“Lock it away until later.”

“Honey, are you sure?”

“Yes, dad.”

“Why?”

“It scares me sometimes how caotic it is. I want don’t want to be scared of myself anymore.”

“If that’s what you want to do, then we will do it.”

“Thank you, guys.”

They both hugged her and were proud she could make this decision at her young age. She understood everything that was happening and when she looked at her siblings, Nicole knew why. Lydia told her she could be a danger to those around her and it was clear that she didn’t want to lose control and hurt any of them.

“I’ll call my mother and let her know.”
