Chapter 1

NIKKI

"Ringgggggg ringgggggg ringgggggg" ugh! Fucking alarm.

I took a pillow and covered my face.

"Nikkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Wake up! It's time to go to school. You don't want to be late right? I really wanted to punch my brother when he yelled and tapped my shoulders to wake me up.

And he really thought that yelling at the same time that the alarm snoozed won't wake me up?

"Shut up, Milo! It's still early and please let me sleep again.”

“But Nikki---“

“Another word and I won't help you with your best friend!”yep, you heard it right. Because I love my brother so much, I've decided to help him with whatever he's feeling for that nerdy girl. I was going to surprise him talk to the girl without his knowledge, but he's kind of annoying right now, so a little menacing won't hurt, right?

And just when I thought that he'll leave me alone, I felt his presence beside me, and he took the pillow that I used to cover my face, and he gave me his sweetest smile. Sap.

"Promise, Nikki? You'll help me?" I could really see that he's happy with my decision. I just hope that I feel the same way too.  

"Yes lil' brother. You know that I love you right? And if she's the only that would make you happy, who am I to oppose." I automatically smiled when he hugged and kissed me on my cheek.

"I love you so much Nikki!! Thank you! You have no idea how happy I am right now.” he said cheerfully. "By the way, your breakfast is ready and I cooked your favorite!”he said and he walked through the door. 

I shook my head and giggled when I saw him dancing before leaving my room. Oh God, he's really madly in love with that girl.

Oh Faye, you have no idea how lucky you are. A lot of girls will kill for whatever feelings that my brother has for you right now.

By the way, let me introduce myself first.

My name is Nicole Anne Fernandez, eighteen years old, 2nd year college at Highland Academy. I'm taking up Communication Arts major in TV and FILM writing. They say that I am pretty and sexy that's why I am school's the Queen Bee.

And then there's my little brother, Miguel Fernandez. I preferred to call him Baby Milo because I find it cute. He's seventeen years old, 1st year college, same school. He's taking up Political Science, so he could pursue his dream to be a great lawyer someday. He's almost perfect. Yep, just ALMOST. Why?  Because he could be in love with any supermodel, or actress, or even the prettiest girl in the school, but he's insanely in love with her nerdy best friend, Faye. And that's a social suicide.

I was about to sleep again when I saw what time is it.

"Oh shit! I can't be late!”I jumped out of bed immediately. I should've listened to my baby brother a while ago.

Fortunately, I wasn't late. It's a good thing that my brother already prepared all the things that I needed to get ready for school.

We also went to school together since he still needs to wait for another year before he could drive his own car.

Once we arrived at school, our fans instantly gathered around so they could have a glimpse of us. Ugh! Why was I born as pretty and they were not? Maybe because they're just meant to be my paps and fans.

Sorry for being harsh but I'm just telling the truth. Also, I don't usually talk to anyone rather than my friends. I wouldn't want to engage in a conversation with a common or just a normal student in this school. So believe me when I say that it would be very hard for me to talk to my brother's nerdy best friend, but I promised him. Just wish me luck.

And speaking of my friends, I smiled when I saw them walking towards us. I missed them last weekend. Let me introduce them.

The first one is Jenny Tamayo. She's my best friend since grade school. She's the only one who's been patient enough to put up with my attitude. She's quite my opposite since she's a nice girl. I was really lucky that I have her in my life. She's like the sister that I never had, and I love her so much.

The next one is Allison San Gabriel, our most valuable player. She's the best volleyball player in our school.  And just an FYI, she's really a player. She can also play with your hearts, so better be careful. She’s bisexual, and we love her for who she is.

And last but not the least, our baby, Mei-Mei Montecillo. Well, we call her baby because she's a woman-child and a spoiled brat. She also has a not so secret crush on my brother and she made us swear not to tell it to anyone. (As if they didn’t see the way she looks at my brother everytime he's with us).

And of course, I also want you to meet the most handsome, hunkiest, and best boyfriend, Chase Delos Reyes.

We were walking together when I felt a nudge on my elbow. I rolled my eyes when I saw my brother smiling at me. Of course, do I really need to this now? Can't he wait till the classes are over?

He bid his goodbye because his class is in the next building. But before he went away, there was that wink again. Ugh! Okay fine.

And because of my promise, I had to look for the nerdy girl once we're in the classroom. Did I forget to tell you that she's also in my first class?  I cringed when I saw how she looks. My god, why is she wearing a sweater with a big bird print? And why did my brother see in her? How to unsee her, please. I think I'm going to be blind because of her poor taste in fashion.

I took a deep breath before walking towards where she is. C'mon Nikki, you can do this. Always remember that you're doing this to make your brother happy.

"Uhm, is this seat taken?" I nicely asked while pointing to the seat beside her.

My friends gave me a disbelieving look when they saw who I'm talking to. Do I have to say goodbye to my fame? I just shook my head and mouthed 'LATER to them. Of course, I know that they would ask a lot of questions because this is not a common thing that I do.

When I looked at Faye again, she wasn't looking at me and she was doodling something on her notebook. What a typical nerd. Tsk. And didn't she hear what I asked a while ago? Or she's just ignoring me? The nerve! Does she even know how hard this is for me?

Nikki, patience. You need to be patient for your brother's sake.

I calmed myself before poking her shoulder.

"Excuse me Faye, is this seat taken?" I repeat.

That was when she looked at me.

I got in a daze when my eyes found hers. What the fuck was that? What's with that sad look? Why are her eyes that lonely?

She just shook her head.

I smiled at her and asked again.

"Is it okay if I'll sit here?" 

She gave me that looked again and it puzzled me. Why was she giving me that look?

Again, she only shrugged her shoulder and didn't answer my question.

Really Faye? Is this how you talk to the queen bee? Again, I calmed myself before sitting next to her.

"Thank you!" I said and she just bowed her head again. Oh wow. Why wouldn't she talk to me? Does she have a problem with me or something?  

I tried to convince myself to be patient and to act nice for the sake of Milo.

C'mon Nikki, just think of a topic that this nerd would be interested to.

'This is for Milo, this is for Milo, this is for Milo’I whispered before poking her again.

"Uhm Faye, can we be friends?" fuck! Did I really say that loud?

I looked at her and yep, I did. I really did say that loud. And she wasn't the only one who was dumbfounded of that question because the classroom went silent when I said that. Goodbye, social ladder. Fuck my life.

"M-me?" she was still in shock when we she asked that question.

No Faye, I was talking to the chair. Maybe she would talk to me and won't be ignoring me just like what you're doing a while ago.

UGH, PATIENCE, NIKKI, PATIENCE. This is for Milo, remember?

I tried to smile and nodded.

"W-why?" she was giving me a look of disbelief. Oh wow, seriously? Is she having a second thought before answering that question? Wow, didn't know that she was this choosy.

There goes my mantra again. 'This is for Milo. This is for Milo. This is for Milo.’

Again, a deep breath to calm myself before answering.

"We'll we're neighbors and you're my brother's bestfriend, so I think it wouldn't be weird if we'd be friends, right?”I gave her a fake smile after I said that.

That's when I saw her smile and I felt something struck me. Is it a lightning? A spark? What was that?

She nodded and extend her arms.

FAYE 

I was really dumbfounded when Nikki asked if I want to be her friend, and I really didn't know what to say. I was about to decline her request but I saw how sincere she was, so who am I to reject her offer of friendship.

"Let's start from the beginning? Hi, I'm Honey Faye Alix. And you are?" I said while extending my arms to shake her hand.

"Nicole Anne Fernandez at your service" she said while smiling and there was the feeling again.

Why am I getting this weird feeling whenever she's smiling at me? I’m not really sure what's happening to me but I chose to ignore it.

That was the beginning. I'm not sure about her intentions, but she's been asking me a lot of questions and I didn't think that I'd enjoy answering all of them. Yes, I'm still in shock when she chose to sit beside me, but this is nice. I'd get to know more about my best friend's older sister.

We'll never know but maybe she'll like me to be her brother's girlfriend if we'd become friends. Yes, I secretly like my best friend and I know that he likes me too, but I don't have the guts to let him know about my feelings because I'm afraid that her sister won't like me.

I just hope that this friendship would make Nikki like me, well, for her brother.
