Chapter 4

Finally, the time has come when Michael and I can get in action with a few selected team members for the expedition.

The preparations for it took a while as we had to make sure that we have everything that we might need. I always say, better be ready than to be sorry later.

Right now I was in my office in the city making sure when I leave that everything runs smoothly, so my assistant Joanna Travis, brought me a huge pile of files to be checked and approved by signing them as they were rested at the edge of my huge mahogany desk.

To my right side, I could see roofs of the buildings, and busy streets that were crowded with people that were in a rush, as a hectic, all ever so annoying traffic was passing through the city, making some streets more cramped over with cars, while some less, as traffic lights exchanged colors continuously.

I was indulged in my work, trying to go through every file thoroughly as I could so there are no lacks while Joanna was coming and going, in and out of my office, carrying away finished files and bringing in new ones.

The time was passing by, and before I knew it, it was already evening. The whole day I was working without stopping, carrying on with meetings, and finishing the files that I didn't even realize what time it was.

Standing up from my chair, I placed the last file on the pile for Joanna to take in the morning when she comes. I stretched out feeling the soreness in my muscles but I knew it was well worth it all as I was excited to finally go on the new adventure that was waiting for me ahead.

Shutting down my computer, the door to my office opened, making me look up just to see a tall, blonde in a tight, short, black dress, walking inside my office.

My eyes roamed over her frame, going all the way from her black heels, over her tanned long legs, following the curves of her body that were showing through the dress, to her beautiful face and two grey eyes.

A smile appeared on my face as I saw her, walking slowly, swaying her hips, seductively with a big grin showing off on her red lips.

I stood up to my full height, still smiling I said, “Tianna, what do I owe this pleasure of your visit in this hour?”

Laughing I took her hand that was on my chest and pulled her closer to me, as my other hand wrapped around her waist, “No you certainly couldn’t.”

She smiled, even more, looking up towards me as her hand wrapped around my neck, pulling me closer down towards her.

"So impatient as always," I said, teasing her as a smirk was showing on my lips making her growl slightly, raising on her tiptoes as she pressed her lips onto mine.

Tianna Russell is the daughter of a Burminghtam pack Alpha, that I have a casual fling with every time I come back home. Since we both were mateless even though we searched everywhere to find our mates, we agreed to see each other when our hope was lost.

True, our relationship was more than one between two friends, as my feelings for her never grew as to say I was in love with her, I knew that she had grown feelings for me and no matter if we had a conversation about it, Tianna wanted me to consider, if by a certain age we don't meet our mates, to accept each other and claim her as mine.

I haven't given her the answer yet as it was the last conversation we had before my previous expedition, so yes maybe I was a little bit avoiding this meeting but at the same time, I had to finish up important work before leaving again.

Pulling away slowly from our kiss, I looked down at her as she was looking back at me.

“Have you considered what I proposed to you the last time?” I heard her ask me that dreadful question that I was trying my best to avoid, but I guess the time has come for me to face the facts and be fair and answer her.

I took a step back, holding her hand in my own as I started to wage the pros and cons of it.

Deciding upon it, I looked her in the eyes and said, “Yes I have.”

I could see she was anxious about it even though she tried her best to hide it, so I continued, "I think considering everything we spoke about and if none of us meet our mate by the age of 30, yes I believe that would be a wise choice to do, of course, if you are still considering it?"

A smile grew upon her face as she squeaked happily making me chuckle, and jumped into my arms.

Readily, I managed to catch her as she threw herself at me, pulling me down as she kissed me feverishly.
