LOGINWell after ten o'clock the last guests had finally said goodbye and suddenly calm returned to the house.
"Phew, what a hype," Polly sighed as she began to organize.
Lucian took the tray with the dishes from her hand. “Let me do that. It was a busy day for you, you should go to sleep. "
"But that's out of the question," said Molly.
"He's right," Faith cut in now. “You've been on your feet all day, it's over for today. I'll do this. "When Molly was about to object again, she added," Besides, I'd like to chat with Dr. Entertain Clarke about the practice. "
"Oh," said Molly, "if that's the case, of course we don't want to disturb you."
She winked at her sister inconspicuously and shortly afterwards the two were gone.
Embarrassed, Faith grabbed a stack of plates and carried them into the kitchen. She was now sorry for bumping into Lucian Clarke in the cemetery. She was sure he had only meant well and regretted her gross reaction.
As she put the glasses in the dishwasher, she pondered how best to start the conversation.
"That's the rest," Lucian explained as he came into the kitchen with another tray full of dishes.
Waiting, he stopped and watched her nervously scraping the leftovers into the trash can.
Suddenly he stepped up to her, took the plate from her hand and set it aside. "What do you have to tell me?"
"What?" She asked, confused.
"You wanted to speak to me," he reminded her, "so - what do you have to say to me?"
He was standing close in front of her, fixed her with a penetrating look, and Faith suddenly had the feeling that she couldn't breathe. Instinctively, she took a step back, even though she secretly felt an inexplicable urge to do exactly the opposite.
"I ... I ..." she began with a stutter and then paused, completely confused, while her mind shot helplessly how good he looked in the black pants and dark gray shirt.
"What are you so afraid of?" He asked suddenly.
She stared at him, saw the challenge in his gaze and her fighting spirit awakened. There was no way she would be intimidated by him.
"I'm not afraid," she emphasized coolly, "or should I have some?"
There was a brief flash in his gray eyes. "You should know that better than I do."
"Dr. Clarke, "she said, now in an overly indulgent tone that is commonly used to speak to young children or patients with dementia," let's leave the games and get down to business. "
"Gladly," he nodded, and the look he gave her from head to toe made it clear what he was thinking.
With iron self-control, she ignored the heat rising inside her and went on matter-of-factly, “I allow you to take over the practice. This is how my father agreed with you, and I don't want to stand in the way of your plans. I'll be here for a little while longer until everything is sorted out, after which you'll have the house to yourself. So you can stay here as long as you want. "
She paused and looked at him waiting. But he didn't react, only the satisfied expression on his face made it clear to her that he hadn't expected any other decision. She almost regretted agreeing to it again, but it was too late now.
"That was all, we can discuss the other things in the next few days, I think we will agree on that."
"I think so too," he said, and for the first time since arriving she saw him smile.
His eyes sparkled and two dimples formed near the corner of his mouth.
Fascinated, she stared at him, wondering what it would feel like to be kissed by that mouth.
Abruptly she turned and put the rest of the plates in the dishwasher, indicating that the conversation was over.
"Your aunt said you brought Emily to your room?" He asked.
"Yes, she's asleep, and if you agree, she can stay there," she offered without looking back. "Would you like to check on her again?"
"No, I'm sure she will be safe in your bed."
The tone in his voice made her shiver again. “Good night, Dr. Clarke, ”she wished him frostily.
"Until tomorrow."
She heard him go to the door, then he stopped again.
"By the way - I only play when I know I'm winning," he said quietly.
Seconds later the front door slammed and Faith suddenly had the vague feeling that her decision had been a mistake.
Lucian strolled leisurely through the night streets to the pension.
His mind was on the previous conversation, and a small smile played around the corners of his mouth.
Faith Havering was nowhere near as brittle as she pretended, he had clearly noticed, and subconsciously he had added one point to his to-do list: he wanted to conquer this woman.
He knew it was crazy that he shouldn't think about that at all in his situation. But Faith awakened longings in him that he hadn't felt for a long time. She spoke to all of his instincts, tearing him between wanting to protect her and wanting to own her.
Never before had a woman stimulated his senses as much as Faith. Not the girls he'd turned off his horns with in his youth, not his ex-wife Alice, and certainly not the few, casual bed acquaintances in the last eight years.
All day long he had hardly been able to think of anything but taking off her black suit and loving her until she begged for mercy.
Shaking his head, he kicked a small stone in the ditch.
Maybe it only appeals to me so much because it's not that easy to get, he thought pragmatically.
Disappointed, I go back to the car and then drive off all the things she told me, in the late evening I try again at his house, but again I have no success, because although the light is on in the house, nobody opens the door.Sadly, I look for a hotel for myself and Luca and sleep a little, then I decide to call the pilot and he actually agrees to bring me and Luca back to Kerry. So Luca and I are back on the plane the next lunchtime and have the long flight to Kerry ahead of us. Luca doesn't seem to mind any of this, he sleeps a lot and actually only calls in when he's hungry. But exactly every four hours ...On Saturday lunchtime I land back in Kerry and take a rental car. When I arrive at the yard, I'm amazed, they're making good progress. You can see a house again.Dec looks at me questioningly when I get out completely exhausted and poke Luca in my arms.“What are you doing here again?” He takes Luca from me. “Hello my littl
Never.“Maybe a little bit, my little one, but that you and a little baby can be here so quickly when your family needs you. Sweet, stupid people don't do that ... “he looks at me lovingly."Miss O'Fallon, you can go back to your dad tomorrow, he has to rest now." The nurse comes in and I bend over to my dad."Family is forever." I say quietly and he smiles.I'm going back to the waiting room and we're waiting to go to Dec.“You can now go to Mr. Declan O'Fallon…” she looks at us “He has 2nd to 4th degree burns on his chest and stomach area, he still has great difficulty breathing and we had to sew a number of cuts. If he gets through the night well, then it looks very good. ”A young doctor explains to us, and Sarah and I begin to cry.Once again Sarah and my mum go in and when they come back I walk into his hospital room a few moments later.I sit back in the chair and try to ignore all the
This is your rental car, first for two weeks, should you need it longer, then call Luca." He helps me load everything and I buckle Luca into the passenger seat. It's not even 24 hours since my mum called me when I drove into the yard. You have put out the fire and only the remains of the foundation walls of the large house and the stable are standing. I get out and take Luca in my arms. I get closer and start to cry, I feel like my life is here in ruins. I was born in that house, I hope. I took my first steps in that house, I spoke my first words in that house, I slept with Fin for the first time in that house and it is very likely that Luca was born in this house. Now all that's left of it is a large pile of rubble and a few the foundation walls.I hold him tight in my arms and look around looking for the animals.Buttercup ..."Miss, you mustn't get too close." A voice comes from behind me.I turn slowly and look at Logan's face. He's wear
"I think I have to go to the Beachresort Clinic, if I'm not mistaken, then my water has just burst." I look at him and feel the panic rise in me.So it wasn't planned like that ..."I'll drive it." He puts his arm around me and supports me."Your car ..." I start and look at the rather expensive car-"Alexa." He almost smiles "Please don't be silly." He helps me to sit down and I go through the first contraction. We need just under 20 minutes to the Beachresort Klinik and Dr. Andrews welcomes me as soon as we arrive.“I didn't expect to see you again that soon,” he jokes. I had an appointment with him just two days ago."And is that the father?" He looks at Mr. McCormick."For God's sake no." I laugh exhausted. "This is my boss, Mr. McCormick." I explain to Dr. Andrews."Please excuse me." He looks at him, embarrassed.“No problem.” Waves this from “Alexa, I'll check on you tomorrow.
Not for that." They both wave."I have to go to the office, I have to see how I teach Mr. Hyatt." I grin, embarrassed.“I'll see you tonight!” Luca kisses me again and I get into my car.I take a quick look into my office and Jas greets me warmly."Did you have a nice weekend?" She smiles at me."Yes, thank you, I hope you do too. Do you know if Mr. Hyatt is there? ”I look at her questioningly."Yes and yes." She grins."I'll be with him for a moment." I walk across the hallway and Amanda gives me an angry look.I knock on the door and then enter.Mr. Hyatt is on the phone and I'm supposed to sit down. I wait patiently for it to finish.“Alexa…” he looks at me surprised “Have you heard that Malibu Engine has chosen us as a law firm? Your presentation was fabulous. ”He smiles at me."No, I didn't know that before, but I just got here." I admit and again he loo
"Sailboat." I reply and he goes to the harbor master to let them know that we are leaving.Once on the boat, Landon and Luca set about getting the boat ready to sail while I sit on the roof of the cabin and think.I am going to have a child. It's not like I have a lot of choice now…I'll be a mummy and I'll make sure my child doesn't go wanting.Inwardly, I make a list of what I have to do.Point 1: Keep calm and hope that everything goes well this time.Point 2: Talk to Luca and Landon, I'll need them by my side.Point 3: Looking for a new apartment, something more family-friendly and not so in the center.Point 4: Talk to Mr. Hyatt or Mr. McCormick, I have to adjust my working hours and maybe get someone into my office. I won't be able to do this alone in the long run.Point 5: I have to talk to my mum, I won't tell her about the baby, but I can no longer keep her silent.Point 6: I have to turn my
