LOGINIn anger, she confronted her father, and he didn't even bother to deny it.
“It has nothing to do with your mother and me,” he told her. “It's purely physical. I love your mother, but I don't get what I need from her. "
"But she's your patient, you swore an oath," Faith yelled at him. “How can you do something like that? And do you have any idea what you're doing to Mom with it? "
Her whole view of the world was in pieces within a few seconds, and her mother had not recovered from the shock either. She became ill and continued to deteriorate until she finally had to be taken to a sanatorium, where she died a short time later.
That same day Faith had dropped her studies, packed her things and left for London. She had never seen her father again since then. He had done everything to get her to return, but she had never forgiven him for what he had done to her mother.
Tears rolled down Faith's cheeks when she thought about how much she had loved and admired him before.
A hand came to rest on her shoulder, jerking her abruptly back into the present. She hastily wiped her face and looked up.
Two gray eyes looked at her searchingly. "Everything OK?"
Lucian Clarke's voice was soft and compassionate, but she didn't want any pity, especially not from the man her father had put in front of her nose as a reminder.
Annoyed, she shook off his hand, ignored the warmth his touch had left, and jumped up. "Of course everything is fine," she replied gruffly.
"I'm really sorry for you, your father was a nice man," he said softly.
Her anger intensified, she snorted angrily. “What do you know? You didn't even know him, ”she snapped. “Do you hear Dr. Clarke, save your words, I am guaranteed not to let your sympathy influence my decision. "
She turned and headed for the cemetery gate, ignoring him.
For a moment he stopped in surprise and looked after her. Then he followed her, caught up with her in a few long strides. They ran back to the villa, side by side, in silence, where the hustle and bustle was already there.
In St. Albury, it was customary for the mourners to come to the deceased's home after a funeral. Visitors appeared, brought something to eat, stayed for a while, took part in general discussions about the deceased, and then disappeared again.
It was no different in the case of Elliott Havering, the only difference being that the living room seemed to be almost bursting at the seams with the crowd of mourners. There was a constant coming and going, and Faith was stunned when she walked into the house.
Polly and Molly were already busy tending to the crowd, and although she didn't feel much like it, Faith mingled with the crowd. She greeted old acquaintances and took part in the conversation politely but mechanically.
Many of the guests had known her since she was a small child and of course she was asked more than once about her life as an actress. She didn't like talking about it, she had never liked being the center of attention. But she patiently answered questions, because she sensed the genuine interest and warmth behind all the questions.
Finally it was evening and there was still no end in sight to the flow of visitors. At some point, Faith noticed that Emily, who had been walking around excitedly among the guests all afternoon, rubbed her eyes tiredly.
She lovingly took the little girl in her arms. "What do you think if we go upstairs and you rest for a moment?"
She expected contradiction, but Emily just nodded sleepily. After briefly telling Polly, she climbed the stairs with the girl in her arms and entered her room. When she turned on the light, Emily looked around with wide eyes.
Faith had never changed anything in the room since she was a teenager. The walls were painted a peach-colored pastel, the furniture made of white wood. There was a fluffy rug on the floor, light-colored curtains on the bay windows, and a canopy of delicate voile over the bed.
"It's a nice room," she said enthusiastically. "Do you live here?"
Faith smiled. "Sometimes."
"I've always wanted a room like this," said Emily sadly. "But Mom only stayed in hotels with me."
Her words created a wave of compassion, and the lost look in her gray eyes cut Faith's heart. Gently she hugged the little one.
"You know what?" She said softly, stroking her dark curls. "How would you like to live here?"
"Honest? Forever? ”Emily began to smile.
"Well, at least as long as you and your dad want it," Faith nodded.
"But it's your room, where will you sleep then?"
"There are more rooms, I'll find a place," Faith reassured her, and decided not to mention, just to be on the safe side, that she wouldn't be staying here long anyway.
Emily threw her arms around her neck. "Thank you," she whispered happily, and kissed her cheek with childlike exuberance.
Faith laboriously swallowed the big lump of emotion in her throat. "Then I would suggest you lie down now and see if you can sleep well here."
"I sure will," Emily said eagerly.
A little later she was in bed. Faith sat down next to her and read from one of her old children's books to her until she fell asleep. She carefully straightened the covers for her again, turned off the light and quietly went outside.
In front of the door she paused for a moment and finally smiled to herself.
"That would have decided it."
Disappointed, I go back to the car and then drive off all the things she told me, in the late evening I try again at his house, but again I have no success, because although the light is on in the house, nobody opens the door.Sadly, I look for a hotel for myself and Luca and sleep a little, then I decide to call the pilot and he actually agrees to bring me and Luca back to Kerry. So Luca and I are back on the plane the next lunchtime and have the long flight to Kerry ahead of us. Luca doesn't seem to mind any of this, he sleeps a lot and actually only calls in when he's hungry. But exactly every four hours ...On Saturday lunchtime I land back in Kerry and take a rental car. When I arrive at the yard, I'm amazed, they're making good progress. You can see a house again.Dec looks at me questioningly when I get out completely exhausted and poke Luca in my arms.“What are you doing here again?” He takes Luca from me. “Hello my littl
Never.“Maybe a little bit, my little one, but that you and a little baby can be here so quickly when your family needs you. Sweet, stupid people don't do that ... “he looks at me lovingly."Miss O'Fallon, you can go back to your dad tomorrow, he has to rest now." The nurse comes in and I bend over to my dad."Family is forever." I say quietly and he smiles.I'm going back to the waiting room and we're waiting to go to Dec.“You can now go to Mr. Declan O'Fallon…” she looks at us “He has 2nd to 4th degree burns on his chest and stomach area, he still has great difficulty breathing and we had to sew a number of cuts. If he gets through the night well, then it looks very good. ”A young doctor explains to us, and Sarah and I begin to cry.Once again Sarah and my mum go in and when they come back I walk into his hospital room a few moments later.I sit back in the chair and try to ignore all the
This is your rental car, first for two weeks, should you need it longer, then call Luca." He helps me load everything and I buckle Luca into the passenger seat. It's not even 24 hours since my mum called me when I drove into the yard. You have put out the fire and only the remains of the foundation walls of the large house and the stable are standing. I get out and take Luca in my arms. I get closer and start to cry, I feel like my life is here in ruins. I was born in that house, I hope. I took my first steps in that house, I spoke my first words in that house, I slept with Fin for the first time in that house and it is very likely that Luca was born in this house. Now all that's left of it is a large pile of rubble and a few the foundation walls.I hold him tight in my arms and look around looking for the animals.Buttercup ..."Miss, you mustn't get too close." A voice comes from behind me.I turn slowly and look at Logan's face. He's wear
"I think I have to go to the Beachresort Clinic, if I'm not mistaken, then my water has just burst." I look at him and feel the panic rise in me.So it wasn't planned like that ..."I'll drive it." He puts his arm around me and supports me."Your car ..." I start and look at the rather expensive car-"Alexa." He almost smiles "Please don't be silly." He helps me to sit down and I go through the first contraction. We need just under 20 minutes to the Beachresort Klinik and Dr. Andrews welcomes me as soon as we arrive.“I didn't expect to see you again that soon,” he jokes. I had an appointment with him just two days ago."And is that the father?" He looks at Mr. McCormick."For God's sake no." I laugh exhausted. "This is my boss, Mr. McCormick." I explain to Dr. Andrews."Please excuse me." He looks at him, embarrassed.“No problem.” Waves this from “Alexa, I'll check on you tomorrow.
Not for that." They both wave."I have to go to the office, I have to see how I teach Mr. Hyatt." I grin, embarrassed.“I'll see you tonight!” Luca kisses me again and I get into my car.I take a quick look into my office and Jas greets me warmly."Did you have a nice weekend?" She smiles at me."Yes, thank you, I hope you do too. Do you know if Mr. Hyatt is there? ”I look at her questioningly."Yes and yes." She grins."I'll be with him for a moment." I walk across the hallway and Amanda gives me an angry look.I knock on the door and then enter.Mr. Hyatt is on the phone and I'm supposed to sit down. I wait patiently for it to finish.“Alexa…” he looks at me surprised “Have you heard that Malibu Engine has chosen us as a law firm? Your presentation was fabulous. ”He smiles at me."No, I didn't know that before, but I just got here." I admit and again he loo
"Sailboat." I reply and he goes to the harbor master to let them know that we are leaving.Once on the boat, Landon and Luca set about getting the boat ready to sail while I sit on the roof of the cabin and think.I am going to have a child. It's not like I have a lot of choice now…I'll be a mummy and I'll make sure my child doesn't go wanting.Inwardly, I make a list of what I have to do.Point 1: Keep calm and hope that everything goes well this time.Point 2: Talk to Luca and Landon, I'll need them by my side.Point 3: Looking for a new apartment, something more family-friendly and not so in the center.Point 4: Talk to Mr. Hyatt or Mr. McCormick, I have to adjust my working hours and maybe get someone into my office. I won't be able to do this alone in the long run.Point 5: I have to talk to my mum, I won't tell her about the baby, but I can no longer keep her silent.Point 6: I have to turn my
