LOGINIt's a simple question, that requires a simple answer." the hefty guy with a thick beard and fierce looking face spoke. The bartender looked at the man with a bold face and was mute for sometime before he spoke.
"Am sorry I will endeavour that everything goes smoothly next time."
"The boss has not been happy about the recent incident that happened."
"Do well, to make sure that this goes well." The man replied and walked out of the bar as some group of men followed behind. Dele walked in looking smartly dressed, with a blue shirt and a black pair of trouser. He greeted the bartender who instructed him to go behind the bar and he immediately did so as the bartender walked through a path that led to a room he couldn't see clearly.
He came out after some minutes later and ordered him to serve a drink, to a man who sat at a corner inside the bar.
He took the bottle of beer served in a tray and walked past some people. A beautiful dark skinned girl who was probably in her early twenties walked into the bar as the shimmering lights that filled the room set on her revealing her ebony smooth skin which shone beneath the lights. Dele turned to look at her after serving the drinks and went back to the bar were drinks were served. The beautiful girl that just entered into the bar, and sat down on a chair located at the middle of the bar and watched the jazz band as they played some cool jazz songs. A couple who was at the left hand side of the bar stood up and swayed their bodies to the rhythm of the song that filled the air. She crossed her long beautiful legs watching with her hands akimbo as she observed. Dele stood behind the bar staring at the beautiful lady. After some time she stood up and walked to the bar.
"I need a beer." Dele hurriedly poured a beer into a mug and served.
"You look new around here."
"Yes I am" he replied as he watched her sip the beer slowly. Her beautiful lips were finely shaped with thick black hair that fell across her neck, she was indeed an epitome of beauty.
She gulped down the remaining drink in her mug and walked out of the bar.
He turned to look at a lady who, danced beautifully swaying her body from side to side. His eyes caught the attention of the bartender as he gave a whitish looking substance wrapped up in a black polythene bag, but he couldn't see it clearly because of the dim lights that filled the bar. Lovelyn walked into the bar with a sad look on her face as she walked weakly.
She gave her orders which Dele served .
She gave a stern look as her eyes followed him staring at the bartender.
"Are you involved?" She questioned as Dele turned to look at her.
"You look new around here and the boss hasn't told me anything about you."
"Involved in what?" he asked .
Lovelyn sensing that he was not aware of what she was talking about gulped down her drink immediately and walked away leaving him with questions unanswered. He ignored the feeling of inquisitiveness in him and let himself enjoy the music that soared in the bar from the band.

Mrs Coker walked into the small room that night looking unhappy after a strenuous day. She heaved and laid on the bed deep in thoughts on what she was going to do about what the doctor said in relation to the health condition of her husband.
Her head began to hurt, as beads of perspiration began to form on her forehead. A slight knock came on the door, Edna stood up from were she sat to check who was at the door. Dele walked into the house, as Edna greeted him and moved to a corner of the room as she stooped low to lay on the mat on the floor. Dele looked around and watched his younger, sister as she lay still in the bed with the soft sound of her breath filling the room. He looked at his mother who was now asleep, he touched her and noticed her body temperature was high he rolled the blanket that was on her body a little and opened the window letting fresh air fill the room. He pulled his shirt and lay on the bare floor as he reminisced on the day's event. He thought of what Lovelyn had said to him, and the whitish substance he had seen in the bartender's hand which seemed to him like a drug substance but he ignored the thought and made up his mind to diligently work and not intrude in any misconduct in the bar. He also fantasized about the beautiful girl at the bar as he closed his eyes to the world of the unknown.
Two hefty looking men stood at the corner of a grocery store as he whistled a song, walking past them one of them walked into the store and pointed a gun at the salesman, as the other man went inside the shop he looked at the man thinking immediately of what to do as the image of him reflected on the glass door adjacent to him. Fear shook his whole body, as the thought of any of the men seeing him came into his mind.
He stood there for sometime thinking of what to do, then he prompted himself to move when one of them caught sight of him and made a move immediately to get hold of him, he took to his heels as the men were on the chase. When he saw that the men were out of sight, he sat down on the ground heaving heavily when one of them came and grasped him by the collar of his shirt as he gave him a punch at his side jaw causing him to bleed, the other man came and joined in beating him and pulled a gun to shoot him when he woke with a scream realizing it was a dream as he was sweating profusely. He laid back on the floor with his bare back, he turned and looked at Edna who lay beside him. He was about to get up and go to the window, when his mother Mrs Coker asked if he was okay because she had heard him scream. She went back to sleep when he gave a positive response, he got up sluggishly and decided on going to the bathroom for a cold bath before coming out. He came out of the bathroom, putting on his shirt and left it unbuttoned as he went to the window looking at the vicinity as he pondered on his dream.
A middle aged woman who was in her mid-forties, who by name was Lynette stood at the front of the mirror admiring her beautiful body with a nice gap tooth to complement her beautiful face when she smiled. She was a mother of three children who although was a rogue in her earlier years still struggled and hoped to give her children a better life than she had. Her life as a single mother was not an easy one and all these years she had stayed alone without a long term intimate relationship with a man. She ought to have lived a better life if her parents had enough money, but life didn't throw such an opportunity to her as some were given such an opportunity on a platter of gold. When she started her business, of owning a small restaurant which is still thriving, she leaped for joy fully aware of the fact that it will put an end to prostitution in her life. For sometime now, she felt safe and had obediently worked for them but things had turned around so soon as she became a part of them, but Mrs Coker had let her stay with them despite the circumstances surrounding their lives. Having lost her job, she decided to go sell some wares at the street market down the road but already she had made some contacts with people to notify her when a vacancy for a job is on. She also dropped some application letters in some of the companies that had vacancy. The day was a sunny one with the sun emitting it's scorching rays to the earth, they both stood as they called in a low tone for people to purchase their wares. A man dressed in a red shirt came to purchase what she sold. From a distance, Edna saw little children playing with a carton made toy as they sang and giggle at each other, suddenly one of the children in the midst of them began to cry because he had not made any toy from his carton. The other children left him to his predicament
"Are you telling me, he has to be transferred to another hospital?" No amount of sympathy could erase the pain Mrs Coker felt at the moment. At the middle of the night she stayed up late to make sure her husband is properly attended to by the doctor, as she was trying to get herself to think properly. She turned to look at the nurses in the ward. After sometime she looked at the doctor and asked him what his health condition was at the moment."His chest area seems to be badly injured, and there will be a need to getting a surgical operation although the probability of his survival is low.""But don't worry ma, we would do our possible best to keep him alive, at the moment I have to make sure he is transferred to a better hospital were he can get a proper medical care."Mrs Coker began to feel bewildered as she questioned the unknown. All that filled her head were thoughts of how long she was to persevere. If eventually
The seasons for the rains had come and it seemed to Edna like the gate of heavens were open as rain fell down heavily. She heard a sound but could not detect immediately if it was her mind playing games with her or a reality. She recalled that she had seen a strange man at the kitchen during the weekend but the idea of telling Mrs Coker wasn't a pleasant one as she felt it was inappropriate considering the emotional turmoil she was experiencing. Cold shivers ran through her body as the thought of strange figures moving around the house scared her. A screeching sound came from the main entrance of the house which got her startled as it increased her curiosity."What if they were dangerous people at the door." She thought. It would be of great relief if someone could walk to the sitting room and observe were the sounds were coming from, but every member of the household seemed to be asleep except for her which even increased the tension she felt
