LOGINMax was still panting by the time he reached the old Lowell house. The scene with Erik’s car kept playing through his head and it scared the hell out of him knowing that he was even capable of something like that. Of course, he knew that
Max found his brother waiting for him when he got home. Kevin was already dressed in an old jersey and shorts. Since lacrosse practice was canceled that afternoon due to more than half the team being stuck in detention with The Darkness, Kevin had persuaded his brother to run with him at the jogging track downtown.
The other day with Adam left Max with a lot to think about. Not only was he a smaller, skinnier version of the Hulk, but there was another werewolf running around Ashborne biting teenagers. Max didn't know why the Alpha hadn't come for him as a human. To at least talk to him and convince him to join the Pack. From all the research he's done about werewolves and wolves, he knew that both were stronger with a Pack and that lone wolves were more likely to end up dead. So why didn't the Alpha take him? Was it because of Adam?
Lacrosse practice was more stressful than usual. Max had to prove he was worthy to be on first line while trying to keep his wolf from coming out and murdering everyone on the field. Like last week, he stood in line lacrosse stick in hand and waited for his turn to take a shot. The only difference was now he was on first line and Erik would be on defense with the long stick.
After his dad left to go back to the school, Max left the house again and drove to the local library and checked out several books that had anything to do about werewolves. If there was a possibility that he was one, then he didn’t want his searches to be tainted by the ridiculous werewolves in the Twilight series. All af
