CHAPTER SIX

Lekky waited for Mirabella to adjust her shoe lace which was taking forever to do, she bent over again and couldn't still tie the lace she sighed and let it be.

Lekky bent over and helped her fix it.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"Just not very strong." Mirabella told Lekky.

They sat back in the empty class, at the back of their main classroom. Lekky brought out the manuscript for rehearsals,

"Be strong girl, what do you think about this competition?" Lekky asked, staring intently at Mirabella she could figure something was wrong with her.

"Our dream!" Mirabella said excitedly. "We've waited so long for this and now that we have the opportunity, we can't misuse it."

"Yeah, I grab. But Mira what's wrong with you?" Lekky asked again not convinced with the previous reply.

"Lekky, I'm alright." She replied.

"Sure?"

"Sure Miss Lekky." Mirabella grabbed the manuscript from Lekky, "Common, let's rehearse."

"Slowly please Mira and quietly." Lekky shushed yelling Mirabella, "You want the teachers to come and punish us here? Break is almost over and they will start roaming the school looking for students that are still outside, don't shout." She warned.

"Okay okay." Mirabella giggled. "Lekky, I'm so sure we will make it to the final."

"Yes, Mira I'm sure of that too we just have to keep rehearsing. Master James told me we have lots of competitors from other schools." Lekky fiddled with her fingers, a habit she does whenever she was nervous.

"Are you nervous?" Mirabella observed Lekky's reaction.

"I don't know, you know this is like the first big competition we will be performing in. I'm just kind of scared."

"Don't be Lekky, don't be scared Michal told me that no matter how many competitors we have, we shouldn't be bothered all we should just focus on is being the best. She told me that I should never be afraid to try and she also said I should face it no matter how hard it gets. Even though she does not really support the fact that I want to be a musician she still gives me the best advice so Lekky, don't be scared you have me and together we will get there!" She winked and Lekky smiled. What will she do without her best friend?

"I have the courage now."

"That's good." Mirabella ruffled Lekky's hair playfully. "Now, let's sing."

"Wow wow wow! Oh my God! Lekky we're good!" Mirabella squealed.

"Yes, we are." Lekky hugged her, the girls were really excited. "Break is over, let's go to the class now we will rehearse again later."

They made for the class when Mirabella dragged Lekky's arm back. "Have you done your Agric classwork?" She asked.

"Oh my God!" Lekky widened her eyes. "He will kill us."

"We don't have agric till last period so no problems, will you come over on Saturday?" Mirabella pouted, secretly hoping her reply would be Yes.

"I will." Lekky smiled.

"Yeah!" Mirabella jumped, she hugged Lekky and they went to class afterwards.

"Where are you two coming from?" The maths teacher asked, straightening the long cane in his hand. Teachers were prohibited from using canes in the school but Mr Dan still uses the cane on the students whenever they misbehaved, Lekky feared at the sight of the long cane.

"From the next class sir." Lekky answered.

"You didn't hear when the bell rang right?" He scribbled something on the white board and continued. "Mirabella, Lekky I won't condone this act of indiscipline in my class." He cautioned them strictly.

"We're sorry sir." They apologized, he dropped the cane and ordered them to go sit down.

'Thanks for saving us lord'

"I want you to meet my kids." Catherine told him.

"Not now Cathy." He kissed her cheeks.

"Why?"

"I'm not ready to meet them now, what If they don't like me?"

"They will." She assured him.

"Okay I will meet them but please give me time." He begged her to understand, she nodded and kissed him.

Michal called Mirabella's name for the fifth time before badging into the room.

"Mira!" She screamed.

"Let me be Michal." She closed her eyes and covered herself with the duvet, Michal pulled the duvet away from her roughly.

"Get up, you lazy ass." She struggled with Michal to get herself covered again.

"Lekky is here!" Michal shouted and left the room.

Mirabella sprang out of bed and hurried to the living room, she hugged Lekky tightly almost breaking her neck.

"I didn't know you'd come." She said happily.

"I told you I will come." They sat down. Michal joined them.

"Let's play a game." Mirabella suggested.

"Okay?."

"The three of us." She said happily and continued. "I will choose any random word for you and you will sing a song that has that word in it, you will include the name of the singer and the title of the song too."

"Give an example." Lekky said.

"Okay, I will choose for you, Michal will choose me, you will choose for Michal. Anyone that does not know any song to sing is out of the game." She rolled her tongue. " So if I choose Malo for you , you will start by singing Malo, jor ooh you give me love I never see ooh malo jor ooh your love mean so much to me ooh.. Just sing like few lines so we can know you know what you're singing." Mirabella laughed. "And you will add Malo by wizkid and Tiwa savage."

"Ring." Lekky started.

"Ring ring ring ring, you don't hit my line no more oh you don't make it ring ring ring ring, I can't keep this on a low I want you to make it ring ring ring ring.. Ring By Kehlani and Cardi B." Michal finished happily.

"Yeah Michal." Mirabella gave her a thumb up.

"All." Michal faced Mirabella

"All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray I've been for a walk on a winter's day, I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A California dreaming on such a winter's day. California dreaming by Sia." Mirabella jumped happily. "I almost didn't get it."

"Hmmmmm," she looked at Lekky and grinned. "Own."

"Own it, girl you just own it. Cause your body is on fire, show me how to control it, and go hit your spliff and get higher, girl I love how you roll it, I put my hand there, hold it. I'ma be right by ya. Own it by Edsheeran, Burna boy and Stormzy." Lekky winked at Mirabella.

"Talking of Edsheeran, you know he started very little. I read his biography he wasn't so popular before." Mirabella told Michal and Lekky. "He's one of my mentors and I hope to be like him someday." She hugged herself. "Let's continue." She said to them

"Senior Michal, let me give you hmmmmm

'I have' "

"Hmmmmmmm. I can't feel my brain." Michal told Lekky, and the girls laughed.

"Michal is out. Bye bye." Mirabella waved at her mockingly.

"I have walked alone with stars in the moon lit night I have walked alone, no one by my side. Now I walk with you, with my head held high, in the darkest sky I feel so alive.   Walk with me by Bella Thorne." Mirabella sang excitedly.

"Where did you even get this crazy game idea from." Michal asked her.

"My brain. What I was thinking before you came to distract me." She rolled her tongue again and giggled.

"You're weird." Michal shook her head and left the girls to continue with their singing game.

She went to the kitchen to bake some cookies, she could hear Mirabella giggling loud again..

Mira is crazy

She wasn't surprised though. "Stop shouting Mira!" She shouted from the Kitchen.

"Mind your business!'' Mirabella shouted back.
