Chapter 18 Unforgivable Mistake

At 8:00 pm, Alex Cohen finished his overtime shift and took Felix Moore with him to a restaurant for dinner.

Felix poured a cup of tea for Alex and said, "Brother Alex, I've discussed with Quinn. She'll quit her job sometime this week and try to come over to work next Monday."

Alex nodded his head and said, "That's great!"

"By the way Brother Alex, I heard Quinn say that Sukie Lane has been out of work for the past few days. She’s abnormally no longer showing off her BMW-driving boyfriend. She just kept going on and on all day and encouraged Quinn to ask about you through me. Do you think that she learned that you're rich and wants to pursue you now?"

"I don’t think so. She should know that we're on completely different paths."

"I understand. She used to kick you to the curb, and now she can't even afford to touch you!"

Alex laughed and changed the subject.

"Tomorrow’s the first, right? I might have some stuff to do, so I'll leave the company to you. In addition to that project in Greenville, we also need to focus on improving our management. Hudson Designs is just an appetizer, and our entrepreneurial journey has just begun. Due to some reasons, there are great variables in my future, so I need a brother who can help to share my burden, and that's you."

"No...Brother Alex, why are you talking as if you're leaving? Don't scare me!"

Felix nodded thoughtfully.

After they finished their meal, Alex and Felix walked to the side of the car. As soon as Alex pressed the unlock button, a figure rushed out from the darkness on the other side of the car, pulled the door open, and got into the passenger seat.

Felix was shocked, pulled open the car door, and saw that the person was actually Sukie Lane that they had just mentioned.

It was now nighttime and it was not so hot anymore, but Sukie was still wearing denim shorts that only reached the roots of her thighs, as well as a low-necked, waist-hugging, navel-baring tank top. It was just the kind of clothing that could not cover any more skin than a bikini could, something that Quinn Shetford would be embarrassed to even wear at home.

As for Sukie’s makeup, it was even more unflattering.

Her makeup was bold and thick. Overall, she looked just like a hooker standing on the side of the streets…

Alex knew that Sukie did not have any good intentions and said coldly, "Get out of the car now!"

Sukie shook her head and said, "Alex, I just want to say a few words to you. As long as we’re clear with each other, we won't have any relationship in the future. We’ll go our separate ways."

Alex was helpless. In order to get rid of Sukie as soon as possible, he had to obey her first.

"Say what you have to say!"

"I want to talk to you alone."

Felix was furious and yelled, "Sukie Lane! Are you trying to climb all over us?"

"Fine! Felix, you can go back first. I'll call you if anything happens."

Alex patted Felix's shoulder and gave him a wink.

Felix understood and pretended to agree to leave first. In actual fact, he did not go too far.

Alex got into the car, started the engine to turn on the lights, and asked, "What do you want to say?"

Sukie fumbled in her bag for a moment, pulled out a small white box, put her purse back on the dashboard in front of the car, and said in a soft voice, "Do you mean what you said last time? I showered before I came out, and even bought birth control. You can have unprotected sex with me anytime you want, even in the car…”

"Don't you ever do anything without thinking? Is it really worth doing this for someone like Shane Locke?"

Sukie did not respond. She just leaned over to lie on Alex's legs and wanted to unbuckle his belt.

"F*ck…are you insane?"

Alex did not expect Sukie to be so wild. He could not help but curse and yanked Sukie up.

Sukie grabbed Alex's right hand again with both hands and pressed it to her chest.

"Alex, don't be so hard on yourself. Just let go. When it's over, as long as you withdraw your lawsuit, I promise not to trouble you…”

"Shut up!"

Alex had fantasized about this scenario many times, but the subject of his fantasies was Isla.

In his imagination, this scenario was wonderful. Right now, however, he was not in the mood to enjoy it at all. He pulled his hand back fiercely and said angrily, "Sukie Lane! I didn't expect you to stoop so low. I feel ashamed and disgusted for having liked you back when I was ignorant!"

Sukie was so insulted by Alex that she lost her mind and forgot all about her mission. She roared at Alex with a deadly glare.

"Alex Cohen! You're just a little boy toy who has no backbone and you still have the nerve to insult me? I'm still ashamed to the point of disgust for having a classmate like you!"

“Hiss...what did you say?"

"Do you think no one knows about your scandal? To tell you the truth, not only do I know about your situation at home, but I've also met your mother-in-law. Are you surprised? Isn’t it unexpected? "There’s this kind of thing?"

Alex was infuriated. He fiercely moved his body to his side, braced his right hand on the seat, slapped his left hand on the center console, and glared at Sukie.

"Don't tell me that it was Xena Sanders who asked you to seduce me!"

Sukie's satisfaction soared when she saw that Alex had been defeated and proudly said, "That's right!"

"Why would she do that? I'm her daughter's husband!"

Alex's face instantly returned to normal and said blankly, "Sukie Lane, you can get lost now."

Sukie was a bit confused as she was unable to figure out how Alex's demeanor had changed so quickly.

However, Sukie thought that she had somewhat completed the mission, so she put on her clothes, took her small purse, got out of the car, and left.

Felix, who was waiting in the dark, quickly ran over and asked urgently, "Brother Alex, is everything alright?"

"I’m fine. Sit inside for a while…”

Alex rummaged out a headset connected to the car and tapped a few times on the center console screen. Then, the second half of the conversation with Sukie came out of the headset.

When Alex heard Sukie mentioned the words "little boy toy" just now, he realized that something was not right. Suddenly, he became irritable, but it was all an act so as to better catch Sukie's words. At the time when his left hand slapped the center console, it was not out of anger, but rather to press the record button.

“You have your strategy, I have my solution.”

Alex thought up the solution before he even knew how Xena Sanders had set him up…

On the other hand, Sukie ran a few hundred meters in one breath to make sure that Alex had not caught up to her. She eagerly opened her purse, which contained a miniature video camera that was on her bag accessory. Every move she made with Alex in the car just now was filmed.

It was a pity that she did not manage to take off Alex's pants.

Sukie returned home, connected the camera to her computer, and diligently studied the footage over and over again. She finally cropped a few photos that she felt were very convincing and sent them to Xena Sanders.

In Sukie's opinion, Shane Locke's release would just be around the corner once she did this.

Early the next morning, Xena Sanders arrived at Isla's house in a flurry along with Victor Sullivan. She pushed open the door to the master bedroom straight away, saw that Alex was not there, then ran over to the bathroom.

Isla looked stunned and asked, "Mom, what are you doing?"

Xena saw that there was no one in the bathroom either and frowned.

"Where's Alex Cohen? Did he not come back last night?"

"Ah...he…”

Isla panicked a bit and looked carelessly over to the guest room. She deliberately raised her voice and replied, "He went drinking with his friend last night and hasn't come back yet. Mom, is there something urgent that you had to come over so early to look for him?"

"Call him and tell him to get his *ss back here!"

"Mom, if you need to talk to me about something, I'll just tell him. We're meeting outside later, and then we'll go to the class reunion together."

"At this juncture, you're still in the mood to party? Do you know what Alex Cohen did last night? Hurry up and call him!"

Isla nodded and replied, "Yeah. I didn't want to go either. Since something has come up, I'll just reject his invitation."

"We’ve already RSVP’ed, if I don’t bring Alex, then I’ll be breaking this appointment. I might as well not go."

Xena Sanders was speechless.

On the way here, she had already brewed up her emotions.

After she got here, however, she realized that this was not the right time to settle the score with Alex.

If she pissed Alex off now, what if Alex took out his frustrations on Jared Xavier later? It would be a greater loss. Whether they could repair their relationship with Jared was directly related to whether Gold Stone could renew their contract with Grand Express Corp.
