Chapter 11 Enormous Woman’s Head

I was dumbfounded and found myself in a really awkward position. I shoved Liu Longting aside and asked, “W-What’s this fishy smell that I’m smelling? Can you please let me go?"

"What fishy smell are you talking about? Surely you know this is the scent of a snake. Are you uncomfortable with my scent?" asked Liu Longting as he slid his hand along my leg. I tried pushing him away but he would not budge. Water started flowing down on us from the shower head like heavy rain, drenching my sweater in hot water.

I started to get angry at Liu Longting. What was he trying to do? Was he trying to get me wet on purpose? Steam from the hot water made everything blurry and Liu Longting’s skin tone appeared lighter than before. He stared at me with his dreamy eyes which made everything very sensual.

I swallowed my saliva and tried to avoid eye contact. I turned my head aside and said, “You don’t smell bad, and there’s nothing that I could possibly dislike about you."

"If you really mean what you said, then let me kiss you."

As soon as he finished his sentence, he leaned in and kissed me on the lips.

I did not know what was going through my head—it felt as if I was being brainwashed. He then lifted me up. I did not intend to resist nor retaliate; it all felt like a dream and I planned to go along with it.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rang.

The sound of the doorbell was very sharp and as it registered in my ear, it snapped me out of my drunken state. I stared at Liu Longting and panicked. I picked up my wet clothes and told him that someone came and that I needed to go open the door.

Liu Longting took my hand. He wanted me to stay, but the doorbell kept on ringing, so I said, “I should go check who’s at the door.” I pulled away from his hand, put on my nightgown, and opened the door.

After I got out of the bathroom, life felt a little unreal. If we were not interrupted by the doorbell, I might had gone along with it and had sex with him. Once we did, I was afraid I might not be able to control myself around him in the future.

I opened the door and it turned out to be Ma Jianguo!

This was not the first time that he came over. He was in a state of panic and said, "Fairy lady, I beg you to please save my daughter! After you left, the thing attached itself to my daughter again and it’s currently in the room making a racket. It also said that it intends to kill my daughter tonight!"

A moment ago, Liu Longting told me that there was nothing suspicious at Ma Jianguo’s house. Figuring that Ma Jianguo was still lying to me, I responded in a harsh tone, “Really? I just went over to your place and there was nothing suspicious about it. Why are you lying to me?"

"Fairy lady, I’m telling you the truth. My daughter is dying. I beg you to save her, please! I only have this daughter... I promise that I’ll do whatever you ask me to!"

Ma Jianguo knelt in front of me, held onto my leg, and cried his heart out.

The bathroom door opened, letting out a warm waft of air. Liu Longting came out of the bathroom wrapped in a white bath towel around his waist. As he came out of the bathroom, he did not look at me and went to sit on the sofa. He then responded to Ma Jianguo, "It’s not difficult to save your daughter, but you have to tell me everything that you know truthfully. You have evil intentions and you worship evil fairies. If you don’t repent, no one will be able to save you."

After hearing what Liu Longting, Ma Jianguo looked as if his spirit left his body and fell flat on the floor. After a period of silence, he lifted his head and asked Liu Longting, "Wise fairy, if I tell you everything, can you save me?"

At that point, I felt like my presence was being disregarded. Ma Jianguo seemed to have found out Liu Longting’s true identity since he spoke to Liu Longting directly without communicating through with me as he should have. It made me feel a little embarrassed and all I could do then was to invite Ma Jianguo into the room for some drinks.

"Your actions will determine whether you can be saved," Liu Longting responded calmly.

Ma Jianguo considered for a while and it seemed like he had made his decision to tell the truth to Liu Longting.

"Actually, my father had engaged another wise fairy a few years ago to take care of the two wild fairies that were causing trouble to our family. The wise fairy told my father that it was fate that brought the two snakes to our family and insisted that we should keep the snakes since they showed willingness to stay with our family. They would continue to bless our family with wealth and safety."

Generally, guardian fairies were different from a shaman. Guardian fairies did not practice shamanism, and its only purpose was to ensure the safety of a family—similar to the goddess, Pusha, worshipped by the elderly.

"What happened next? Since they have become the guardian fairies of your family, your family should be safe and at peace. Why are you still looking for me?" I asked Ma Jianguo.

"I initially tried looking for Yinggu. Yinggu possessed a high mastery of shamanism. There are only a few in the Northeast region who surpasses her in that regard. I did not expect her to send you. Why would she send another fairy lady to deal with the two snakes when the shaman who offered me the two snakes was the one who did not tell me that there would be consequences for keeping them. "

"What are the consequences?"

"If I want to receive the benefits from the sage, I must offer something of the same value. In order for the Sage to bless my family with wealth, it requires our spirits as offerings. Apart from my grandmother who died under their vengeance, the rest of the family died because their spirits have been fully absorbed by them!"

"What you’re trying to say is that your family sacrificed the lives of the family members because of wealth?" This was unbelievable! A world where money triumphs the lives of your family members?!

"I want to put this to an end, but learned that it’s easier to invite them over than send them away. There are very few sages who dare to interfere with my family problem. Now that it’s putting my daughter’s life in danger, I would like to seek help from you fairy lady, Bai Xianjia. I beg you, please save my daughter. If you help me, I can give you all my family’s wealth.”

I turned my head toward Liu Longting. He ignored me and asked Ma Jianguo to wait outside, so that he could put on some clothes.

As Liu Longting ignored me, it made me feel as if I did something wrong. While he got dressed, I followed suit and put on my clothes too. Then, I followed both of them to Ma Jianguo’s house.

As I entered the house, I heard Ma Jianguo’s daughter screaming from upstairs. The house was filled with shedded, ash white, thick snake skins that led to the end of the stairway on the second floor.

Liu Longting made his way upstairs. I wanted to follow him but before I even stepped foot on the second floor, Liu Longting turned to me and said in a stern tone, asking me to stay and not follow him, but Ma Jianguo was allowed to follow him!

I did not intend to follow if I was not invited. Liu Longting actually thought that I would follow him? Who did he think he was? Just because I did not follow his wishes and had sex with him? Was it necessary for him to give me this cold treatment?

I was fuming as I sat on the sofa in the living room and expressed my anger at Liu Longting. Other than doing those things, what else could he be good at doing?

As I was mumbling to myself about my dissatisfaction against Liu Longting, I heard a sound coming from underneath the sofa. It sounded like a brittle laugh that came from a woman. A dense fog started to form across the room and flowed toward me.

What was happening?

I was thinking of yelling for Liu Longting but the surrounding fog was like an enclosed barrier, echoing my words back to me and hurting my eardrums in the process.

I was initially bad-mouthing Liu Longting, but when he was not with me, I was like a scared chicken that I would look down on. The surrounding fog became denser and slowly swallowed the chair and table along with it. I started to panic, worrying that something was coming after me!

I was moving around the place based on the memory I had when a giant woman head the size of a basin appeared right in front of me. The head suddenly lifted itself. It was higher than me by roughly a meter. It let out a burst of laughter and her big, wide, and red lips cracked toward her ears. A series of evil laughter followed through from her inner mouth but she did not speak a word. Her mouth was wide open and it suddenly flew directly toward me and swallowed my head.

I did not have time to react, and suddenly, all I could see then was pitch black. I sensed a strong fishy smell but Liu Longting was not there. I felt like I was no different from any other human being when I thought that I was going to die. I suddenly heard a familiar voice coming from my chest. “You really don’t know who you’re messing with. How dare you mess with my people?"
