Chapter 6

Omoshalewa's POV.

Sister Tabitha called the police instantly after we left the security room. All of us were standing at the staff room waiting for the police to come so we can go to Master Tunde's house.

"You should all go home and wait for us to come back,I promise you that I'll find Mide"Sister Tabitha told us.

"No…no we'll all look for her and we'll all go home together"I said between tears.

"Yes…Shalewa is right, we'll stay here"Posi chipped in.

"No…you should all go home and wait for me, Mide left the school out of shame from what that bastard did to her,so we don't know where she went to…our priority now.is to find her and arrest that son of a bitch"she explained.

"Okay ma"we all agreed.

"Oluwafemi, please take them home"she told Michael.

"What about you,how will you get home?"Femi asked her.

"Have you forgotten I'm a detective?"she teased.

"Yes ma'am"Femi said.

We all walked to the car, Emeka sat down in front while the three of us sat at the back. The drive to Mide's house was silent, nobody said a word. Debby,Posi and I just hugged ourselves tight, consoling ourselves. We felt bad about what happened to our friend. We finally got to Mide's house,we were about to go inside when the gate man rushed towards us.

"Eyin omode yi(you this children)"he called our attention.

"Good evening, Ifechuckwu"Posi greeted him.

"Good evening"we all greeted him.

"Welcome…she's inside"he said,we all stared at him with confusion.

"Who is inside?"Femi asked.

"Mide…she came back 10minutes ago…"before he could finish his statement, we all raced inside.

"Mide…Mide…Mide"we all screamed. There was no response,we all ran in different direction. Debby ran upstairs,I went to the kitchen,I have no idea where the rest went to.

"Mide…Mide…somebody please help me…Shalewa, Posi"we heard Debby's voice scream from Mide's room.

We all ran upstairs as fast as our legs could take us. We got to Mide's room to meet her lying unconscious on the floor with her head, Debby patting her cheeks gently calling her name.

"What is wrong with her…please let's get her to the hospital now"I screamed,I was already crying. Femi didn't waste tome before lifting her up in a bridal style.

"Looks like she poisoned herself"Emeka's voice stopped us when we were about to step out of her room.

"What…what do you mean?"Posi stuttered.

Emeka didn't say a word he only pointed to a white plastic lying on Mide's bed. I rushed to her bed and picked the plastic, I was shocked by what was written on the plastic, I was shocked by what my best friend just consumed. And why did she consume it, because of a stupid asshole. Posi and Debby ran over to me and grabbed the plastic from, Debby wanted to scream but covered her mouth with her hand, Posi wanted to slump but Emeka grabbed her. My legs were also shaking.

No,no,no I can't loose my best friend. NO. I said to myself shaking my head vigorously.

The car horn brought all of us back to life. I looked around to see that Femi had already taken Mide down to the car,we all rushed downstairs,into the car. Femi drove the car very fast to the estate hospital. On our way to the hospital, I already called Sister Tabitha and told her about the situation of things,she told me she'll be there in 10minutes we should just take Mide straight to the hospital. We got to the hospital after 10minutes. Mide was rushed to the emergency room,she was already foaming by the time we got to the hospital.

The doctor asked all of us to stay outside. After 20minutes Sister Tabitha got to the hospital,we were all afraid,I was literally shaking out of fear already. It was already 8:32pm already. Posi, Debby and I sat on a iron chair,Emeka and Femi managed to stop us from crying. Sister Tabitha was pacing in front of the emergency room.

When it was exactly 9:15pm the doctor came out of the emergency room, he had this sad look on his face. Before he could say anything, we all rushed over to him.

"Can I please see you in my…"the doctor wanted to ask to see sister Tabitha in private but she cut him short.

"Tell me whatever you want to tell me in your office here"she yelled a little causing the doctor to flinch a little.

"I'm sorry to say this but your sister has fallen into a state of coma"the doctor said slowly.

"What…do…you…mean?"I stammered, sitting on the hospital tiles.

"You mean my…my…niece is in coma"sister Tabitha stuttered as a street of tears rushed down her faces to her cheeks.

"When will she wake up?"Posi said sniffing.

"A week, a month or a year…some people take years to wake up"the doctor explained.

"How many days do you think she will take before waking up?"Debby asked.

"I…I…I don't know"the doctor replied stuttering.

"We'll move to another room now"the doctor said and walked away. It was silent only our sobs were heard before sister Tabitha's phone rang.

"Yes, tell me"sister Tabitha asked the caller.

"I'll be there in a few minutes"she told the caller before ending the call.

"I just received a call from the station…Tunde has been arrested…you guys should go home, you need to rest you all have school tomorrow"Sister Tabitha explained to us.

"No matter we'll stay here with out friend"Posi said.

"No go home, you can stop by tomorrow morning on your way to school…Micheal please take them home and drive safely"she told us.

"Okay ma"Femi replied her.

"Thank you so much Micheal"she said as she hugged all of us before walking briskly out of the hospital.

The drive to Posi's house was silent.Nobody uttered a single word,we were all in our own word thinking about different things. Femi drove us to Posi's house,I could not go home because dad is still not back from his travel and Debby couldn't go home because it was late already,her parents would know she was with us.

"Thank you so much Emeka and you too Femi"I said as I got down from the car.

"You're welcome"Emeka answered.

"You're welcome but don't call me that"Femi replied me.

"But why…I love it"I told him.

"Since you like it, then feel free to call me that but not in school…it's embarrassing"he said.

"Whatever,I don't care where I call you that just adapt with it dude!"I joked as we all giggle a little.

We bid the boys goodbye and walked into Posi's house. We met sister Sikemi staring into her laptop.

"Good evening sis"Debby said causing sister Sikemi to look towards our direction.

"Good evening sis"I and Posi greeted her too.

"Welcome girls,I heard what happened to Mide from her Aunt…I'm so sorry my babies"she said looking sad.We rushed over to hug her, crying as we remembered the state out best friend is in.

"I…I…I miss her"I said between tears.

"Me too"Posi added.

"We all miss here girls…the only thing we can do now is to stay strong for her and pray for her quick recovery"Sister Sikemi told us.

"Yes we'll pray for her and stand by her through this tough time"Debby said.

"We're in this together"I added.

"You girls should go and have a shower then come down to eat,I cooked rice"sister Sikemi said.

"No, I'll pass"Posi said.

"Me too"I added.

"I'm not hungry"Debby also said.

"You girls have to eat…I hope you don't have assignment?"she asked.

"No, lucky for us because we left our bags are at Mide's house…we'll grab it tomorrow morning on our way to school"I explained to her.

"Go and take a shower and please come down to eat something even if it's just cereal"sister Sikemi tried to persuade us to eat.

"Okay sis"Debby said.

"I love you" she yelled behind us as we walked upstairs with tired legs.

"We love you too"I replied her.

Micheal's POV.

I got home after I dropped Emeka at his house,but I could not stop thinking about what Master Tunde did to Mide. I still can't place my finger on any reason why a teacher would do that to his student. For goodness sake he's supposed to be a role model to we his students.

"Welcome…you said an hour but i think you used 3 or 4hours"Blessing's voice stopped me on my way to my room.

"Sorry, some things came up so…"I tried to explain but she cut me off.

"Just give me my car keys and never ever touch them again"she said snapping her finger at me to give her the keys to her car.

"At least ask me why I came home late"I told her.

"This is not your first time little bro"she stated matter of fact.

"But that's only when I get really angry and I just want to cool off so I won't hurt anyone"I said almost getting angry.

"Calm down little bro,calm down…I'm sorry…now tell me what happened with a calmed mind"she tried to calm me down so I won't get angry, Blessing is the only one who knows how to calm me down whenever I'm about to get angry, whenever my illness is about to take over.

I explained what happened to her. When I finished telling her the sad story I saw tear fall from her right eye.

"I'm so sorry, I had no idea this happened"she apologized.

"It's okay…I'm sorry,I should have called also"I also apologized hugging her.

"You know I can't do without you, right"I told her.

"I know…and do you also know I can't do without you"she replied.

"I know"I said giggling.

"Should I go and dish your food or you'll help yourself out"she asked me.

"Nah, I'll pass…I'm not hungry"I simply answered her, ascending the stairs to my room.

"Don't give me that shit young man…you'll have to take something"she ordered but I didn't mind what she was saying any longer,I ran up to my room.

"You'll meet me here, sho gbo(did you hear)"she yelled.

Whatever. I said in my mind.

After a hot shower,I remembered that I had to pick my outfit for the welcome party. After thinking and searching for what to wear online,I couldn't pick an outfit so I decided to go to Blessing for help.

"Hey sis, you're still up?"I whispered knocking on her door gently.

"Arrrggghhh…what is it now?"she asked.

"I need your help sis"I replied her.

"Ogbeni(Mr Man), I'm tried already, fi mi le o(leave me alone o)"she yelled a little.

"At least allow me yo come in and explain to you why I need your help"I said.

"No"she replied.

"Yes"I said before badging into the room.

"Arrgghh…iru omo wo leleyi(what type of child is this)"she reluctantly got up from the bed.

"Ee mabinu(don't be annoyed)"I apologized giving my cutest innocent look.

"Ohh God, you're giving me that puppy eyes that I can never say no to"she said.

"Please naw"I pleaded pouting my mouth.

"Okay fine…what's up?"she finally agreed to help me.

I told her about out welcome party and who my date,she teased me saying that Shalewa is my girlfriend,I told her that's not true but Blessing won't stop teasing me about it.

"Oya just help me pick an outfit"I said.

"Okay let's see…since the color code is white then your outfit picking should be easy"she explained typing something on her laptop. Blessing works in my mum's boutique so she's very good in picking outfits for someone.

"Here we go… you can wear a white chinos and a shirt if you don't mind you can match it with a waist coat"she said.

"Good idea…but I'm wearing sneakers"I told her.

"Still works with it…or you can just wear the chinos and a tee shirt"she gave me another option.

"You're the best sis"I said pecking her on both cheek.

"I know"she giggled.

"When will mum be back from Spain?"I asked.

"Probably next month"she replied.

"I should have known"I scoffed.

"She loves you…just try to talk to her"she said.

"No, I don't want to talk to her after what she did"I told her.

"I know what she did was wrong but you just have to let things go"she whispered.

"Let things go…she literally turned me to a half mad man…"I said getting angry already but she cut me off.

"You're not a mad man and you will never be one"she spoke softly.

"Stop giving me that bull shit Blessing…I have intermittent explosive disorder I.E.D for God's sake"I yelled.

"And you're telling me to let things go"I said.

"I'm sorry sweetie but I know we'll overcome this together I believe we can"she whispered as she moved closer and hugged me tight.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you"I apologized.

"It's okay…it's going to be okay"she assured me.

"Good night"I pecked her and went to my room.

I sat on my bed as tears fell from my eyes. Whenever I remember everything that happened I'll always beat myself up for it,this is the reason I'm who I am now anf the only person responsible is my mum.

Flashback.

"Mummy please…mummy please,I will not do that again I swear"Seun,my twin sister begged my mummy to stop beating her but she didn't stop beating her. I ran over to hold her by the leg.

"Mummy please don't beat her again she will not do that again"I begged her.

"You better leave my leg or I'll bounce on you too"she yelled at me.

She was beating my twin sister because, she broke a bottle of wine by accident. My dad was out of the country for since two years ago,since my dad left this has been the way we've been living. My mum was always aggressive,she think my dad left us and ran away.

"Ahhh…aburo Mii oti to(my younger one it's okay)"uncle Tade,my mum's elder brother who leaves with us because he had financial problem.

"Omo de yii,mo ma pa ee leni(you this child I'll kill you today)"my mum screamed,uncle Tade ran over to pull Seen away from my mum's clutches.

"I said leave her alone…shey mi o le ba e soro mo ni(can't I talk to you again)?"uncle Tade asked my mum.

"I'm sorry egbon mii(my elder one)"my mum apologized.

"Shey e mo nko to se(do you know what she did)?"my mum asked.

"I don't and I don't care to know,they are kids for goodness sake…you don't have to take out the anger you have for their father out on them"uncle Tade said.

"I've heard you…God save you today if not you'll see what I'll do for you…egbon mii(my elder one), I'm going out"my mum said as she went inside. After 5minutes she came out with her bag and left.

"Thank you sir"Seen said sniffing.

"It's okay you're a beautiful girl you don't have to cry"he spoke softly to her cleaning her face with his hand.

"You come here"he called me.

"Sir"I answered.

"God and buy me tuwo(a native food in Nigeria)"he said bringing money out of his pocket.

"But it's just 3:30pm…tuwo won't be ready until 5pm"I explained.

"Shut up…go there and wait till it's ready,buy it and come back home"he yelled.

"Send Seun naw"I tried to argue but he slapped me.

"Shey on ko ise abi(ate you refusing work)?"he asked.

"No sir"I answered between tears.

"Good…go and take plate and go"he ordered.

Is that tuwo that wee kill you, foolish man. I said in my mind.

I left the house, leaving Seen and Uncle Tade alone the house. After two hours I got home with his stupid tuwo. On getting home, nobody was in the sitting room. Our house was a two bedroom flat.

"Uncle Tade…uncle Tade"I called but there was no response, I dropped the plate on the table and walked towards his room that was when I heard screaming and crying from inside his room. I opened the door to meet Uncle Tade on my sister,blood was all over the bed sheet and on Seun's thigh.

"Seun"I screamed after seeing the horror in front of me,uncle Tade jumped off my sister.

"Why are you here?"he growled.

"What…what…were you doing to her?"I asked stuttering. I quickly ran over to meet Seun,she was bleeding,she was also in pain.

"If you tell anyone what you've just seen, I'll kill your sister"he growled at us.

"And you if you tell anyone,I promise you I'll kill your brother then kill you"he said facing Seun. We nodded in approve, because uncle Tade was a thing he would do whatever he says he would do.

"Now clean up this message"he ordered and left the house. I and my sister cried so much,after minutes of crying we cleaned the whole mess. I told her to let us tell out mum but then she made me realize that my mum is not going to believe us instead she'll beat us. We had no one else to go to for help,so we kept quiet about it.

Uncle Tade continued to rape Seun, my mum started keeping late nights, sometimes she won't even come home. That gave uncle Tade more privilege to that what he's doing with my sister. After 3 months of him raping my sister, Seun got pregnant. My mum found out,we told her what happened she didn't believe us like we expected, instead she beat us.

The following week after she learnt that my sister was pregnant she took her to the hospital to abort the baby. They got home after the abortion, my sister came home very weak but that didn't stop my mum from going to wherever she goes to. In the middle of the night,that was when my sister started to bleed. My twin sister died in my hands that night,I had no one to go and meet,we lived alone in the house,no neighbors. That night Uncle Tade didn't come home. My mum arrived in the morning and let her daughter's dead body,that was when she regretted her actions,that same day uncke Tade was hit by a car and he died on the spot.

My dad came home the following month,my mum told him my sister died out of illness. It was later my dad found out what actually happened. That's what lead to our broken family.

End of flashback.

I went to take a shower after so much crying from the bad memory that haunts me all the days of my life. I decided to watch a movie since I was not feeling sleepy,I didn't know when I fell asleep.
