Morowa.

You know that one time in the night or early morning when you feel like sleep escaped from your life or it suddenly went on a vacation when you needed it the most? That's the only explanation for being awake right now.

'2:18am' the red glowing lights from my alarm clock displayed.

I had been counting the invisible dust motes in the air for what felt like forever. I needed a distraction.

With this in mind,  I picked up my glass case from my bedside table,  opened it and slipped it on my nose.

There was no way I was going to lie here and be bored out of my mind. So I was going to do something about it.

Why don't you just read?

But that was it. I didn't feel like reading. After slipping my feet into my Pokémon slippers (yeah, you heard right), I exited my room,  taking careful steps.

At times like this,  I wished my house wasn't so big. I had probably been walking for only two minutes but it felt like forever before I finally made it into the kitchen.

I touched the walls in search of the walls in search of the light switch.

With the room now awash in light,  I proceeded to the fridge in search of my morning snack-ish.

"Why are you even awake by this time of the morning?"

Her voice almost made me drop my newly acquired ice cream bowl while placing a hand on my chest.

"I should be asking you the same thing." I didn't look up at her while I opened the can of ice cream and put some into my plate.

"Don't change the subject." she warned. "What are you doing up at this time of the day?"

I turned after placing the tub back in the fridge,  shutting the door and turning back to face her with the bowl in my hands.

"Getting ice cream? It should be obvious." I responded in a 'duh" voice before putting a scoop of heaven into my mouth.

Manny folded her arms over her chest before responding.

"Go to your room."

"But I haven't even started and you should taste this,  it's awesome." I said trying to change the subject and maybe convince her to join me but I guess I didn't always get what I wanted.

"It wasn't a request." She deadpanned.

"Fine." I rolled my eyes not caring if she saw it or not, before going out of the kitchen, all the while feeling her intense gaze in my back.

After closing the door quietly behind me,  a crazy idea popped into my head.

I rushed over to my phone which was kept on charge and unplugged it before turning it on and coming online.

Peachbaby (me).

Come online,  now!

I waited, drumming my fingers on my knee before deciding I'd prefer to sit on one of my bean bags.

When I'm settled in comfortably,  I felt the vibration from my phone together with the ping.

Sweetcakesboy(unknown).

Hey babe;)

Talkercrush(Val).

Sup girlfriend.

Lightweight(Sky).

Why do you guys make it your mission to destroy my beauty sleep?

Talkercrush.

Then shut off your freaking phone!

Lightweight.

Nah. I have a feeling that things about to go down,  so I'm sticking around:)

Peachbaby.

Will you guys please listen to me?!

Sweetcakesboy.

Sure boo. I'm here for you.

Talkercrush.

Awwn. Rowa! He called you boo

Peachbaby.

So?

Talkercrush.

So...

I'm thinking what the kids will look like;)

Peachbaby.

What babies?

Sweetcakesboy.

She's talking about mini Rowa and me.

Lightweight.

You know I don't want to hear all this right?

Talkercrush.

We know.

We're only trying to make your morning unforgettable:)

Sweetcakesboy.

You should actually be thanking us:)

Lightweight.

I will never thank you in a million years!

Talkercrush.

You're welcome.

Lightweight.

I never said thankyou.

Sweetcakesboy.

You're welcome because you       just did;).

Peachbaby.

Why won't y'all listen to me😭.

Sweetcakesboy.

Babe I'm listening:(

Lightweight.

Yeah. We're all ears.

Talkercrush.

I second that:)

Peachbaby.

It's about the trip happening this week.

Lightweight.

You mean on Saturday?

Peachbaby.

Yeah. What exactly are we doing there?

Sweetcakesboy.

It's a trip to relax us for finals:)

Peachbaby.

How does the trip help with that. Besides,  finals is still a little far from now.

Talkercrush.

You're right.

Maybe we'll find out tomorrow to today?

Lightweight.

Yeah, plus there are going to be some pretty hot chicks.

Peachbaby.

And how does this affect us?

Lightweight.

It doesn't:)

Just wanted to let you know

Sweetcakesboy.

Why?

Lightweight.

What is this?

Question Sky day?

Peachbaby.

If you'd stop acting like a darn rebel,  maybe we'll stop:)

Sweetcakesboy.

The keyword is 'maybe' :)

Lightweight.

Come on guys,  don't you wanna spice up this trip?

Talkercrush.

The only thing that's going to be spiced up is your trouble:/

Peachbaby.

She's right. Do you know the punishment for going against the teachers?

Lightweight.

Will y'all stop talking like my grandma-_-

Sweetcakesboy.

Only if you stop behaving like the bad six year old always stealing from the cookie jar:)

Talkercrush.

I second that:)

Lightweight.

I'm telling you. It's gonna be lit;)

Peachbaby.

What are you even planning?

Lightweight.

I'll tell you later.

In school.

How about during lunch,  ya'll come online?

Talkercrush.

Fine by me:)

Peachbaby.

Yeah okay.

Sweetcakesboy.

As long as Mowa is there,  you can count me in;)

Talkercrush.

Awwwn. Rowa, your secret boyfriend is so sweet:D

Peachbaby.

He is NOT my boyfriend-_-

Lightweight.

I second that:)

Peachbaby.

Later guys.

I log out and drop my put my phone on charge.

What could Sky be planning? Nothing good,  that's for sure and Celine is coming too (that's my new name for my unknown number- weird, I know but that's what I could come up with).

Maybe I'll finally see who Celine is and what he looks like at lunch today.

'3:40am', the digital alarm now displayed. Huh. Did I really stay up that long?

Shrugging it off,  I went back to bed thinking about Celine.

***

"So the devil actually made it to school early. " I said in greeting to Val who sticked her tongue out at me.

"So any progress on finding out who your unknown contact is?"

She asked before opening her locker.

"I don't know," I paused, feeling a frown take over my features while I push my glasses up my nose (out of habit). "It's like he's always hiding when he's on his phone."

"What do you mean?" She asked turning to me with a grown similar to mine on her face.

"Remember the other day?"

"What day?"

"The day I went to Sky's game." I explained as look of realization and guilt? Crossed her features but it was gone before I could mention it.

"Yes I remember," she replied sounding distant. "What happened that day?"

"Well,  I chatted with him before the game," I said turning to find her already looking at me. "And he knew when I smiled and what I wore."

I could see the little gears in her brain moving as she no doubt tried to figure everything I've said out.

"So that means he was there but you just couldn't see him?" She voiced exactly what I was thinking.

"Exactly and maybe today during lunch,  I'll see him."

"What makes you sure you'll see him?"

I gave her a 'really?' Look making her raise her hands in surrender before talking.

"Just a question you know, " she paused. "Not everyone is a genius like you,  you know?"

"Fine,  I'll explain," I said like it should be obvious. "If he's really going to be there online,  when Sky tells is about his plans,  he has to be on his phone—"

"So you're going to look for him while he chats away." She cuts me off, completing my sentence.

"Exactly."

"I hope it works I—"

The bell cut her off. She turned to me before widening her eyes.

"Later." She said before turning away and blending in with the hall full of students also scurrying this way and that to make it to classes (well the ones that cared anyway).

This morning is going to be a very long one for sure. A very long one (and I'm not trying to exaggerate)

***

I thought this trip to Paris was actually great,  seeing as I never really go out as much as 's growing teen' (aspersing l according to Manny), should.

The smell of the poison we called food, fish nothing to help this feeling I had in the deepest part of my brain.

Something bad is definitely going to happen but what? Maybe something about the trip? But it wasn't the while school going. Just my grade and a handful of teachers.

Maybe I'm just really excited. For what? Maybe today I'm finally going to see the handsome/maybe not so handsome unknown contact.

I don't even know why I kept his contact when I could have blocked him on the first conversation but no,  being Morowa, the girl with two totally different eye color and glasses,  I just had to keep it.

"Rowa?"

Maybe it's that he's actually growing on me even if I've actually never seen him. Or maybe I have?.

"Rowa?"

Yes,  that must be it! I've actually seem him but don't actually know it's him. I wish there was a way to find out. Sigh. Curiosity kills the cat.

"Rowa!" The persistent voice which keeps interrupting my thoughts called again, making Mr frown. Can't a girl think in peace?

I felt the voice call my name again with the feeling of something in my shoulder. Wait. Voices can't touch. Can they? Maybe they can.

Fingers suddenly appear in front of my face,  snapping three times. I blinked and blinked again before looking at the girl beside me.

Her hair in a messy bun,  probably to escape the heat,  the tiny and almost invincible freckles peppered her cheeks and the bridge of her nose.

She seemed to be looking at me like my eyes just changed from their already weird combination,  to another level of strage combination like blue and blue-black?

"Are you okay?" She asked with confusion,  mixed with worry in her eyes,  her salad forgotten on front of her.

I blinked again. Wait. Val? I've been staring at Val and I couldn't seem to recognise her before?

"Yeah,  sorry," I apologized after finally finding my outside voice and pushing the one in my head which seemed to still be talking away. "Just thinking."

She didn't look like she believed me (not like I believe myself either).

"You sure?" She still had a confused expression on her face.

"Yeah,  I'm okay,  sorry if I scared you." I stated before taking a bite from my PB&J sandwich.

"That's okay,  just wanted to be sure."

"Thanks." Was all I could say for now. How I could get lost in my own head and in broad daylight beats me.

With our lunch out of the way,  we did what a majority of the students were already doing; brought out our phones and came online.

You'd think the staff and whole school would care that the cafeteria was silent but they didn't which was an advantage to us.

I'm thinking they figured out that if everyone was on their phones during break,  they wouldn't have to deal with cat fights or wrestle practice (if you know what I mean).

After putting in my password, I came online and straight into the group chat.

If someone had told me two months ago,  that I would be chatting with someone who was literally in the same room with me,  I would have laughed in their faces but right now,  that is exactly what was happening.

I looked up just to see where Sky was and sure enough,  he was on his phone beside Kris who happily yapped on and in about whatever with Sky nodding every two minutes to let her know he listening (not).

I smiled to myself with this thought in mind because Mann, that girl can talk...

A ping came from my phone followed closely by a ping from Val's phone.

Lightweight.

So are you coming to my room party or what?

Talkercrush.

Room party?

I'm confused.

Lightweight.

Yeah,  my room in the hotel where we're going to book for two weeks?

Peachbaby.

Wait.

They're booking rooms?

Lightweight.

Well duhh. We're going to freaking Paris!

Where so you want to to stay?

Talkercrush

Okay. Okay.

Isn't this room party thing against the rules?

Sweetcakesboy.

And besides,  we aren't allowed to go out of our rooms after a particular time.

Lightweight.

Like I didn't know that already?

Have a little faith:)

Talkercrush.

No one has ever had faith in a trouble magnet like you-_-

Sweetcakesboy.

Yeah man.

You're definitely getting caught.

Lightweight.

Don't worry guys.

The details of the trip plus a form for our parents/guardians will be sent directly to each of us:)

Talkercrush.

Whatever.

Sweetcakesboy.

I don't know about this Sky.

Seems like you're only asking for a whole bunch of trouble:/

Talkercrush.

I second that.

What if you actually get into trouble.

Lightweight.

I don't get into trouble:)

Peachbaby.

You don't?

Lightweight.

Trouble just happens to bump into me all the time:)

Peachbaby.

Why am I surprised -_- ?

Warren."So what is this proposal you have for me?" Benjamin cut to the tea of the matter because formalities were definitely not his line of expertise."I know you help my father with his work when he wants to discovery a mole in his business." I spoke before taking a sip from the hot coffee on the table."Yes, I am on a strong professional relationship with your father and his business but I don't know what exactly you could possibly want me to do for you, " he replied before picking his cup and repeating my earlier actions.Mr. Boyer was definitely the man job with his professional approach to everything. His eyes light and curious. He looked at everything around him

  • That Girl In Glasses   8. Who's the beauty y*u came with?

Vector."Yeah, and that touchdown at the last minute was totally unexpected." Callum smacked the surface of the almost metallic table of the booth we occupied. "You should have seen Fraser's face."He went ahead to immediate what only looked like the expression of a chocking whale to me.Laughter erupted from the throats of everyone in the booth causing the air around me to vibrate.I didn't even know why I agreed to come here if this was all they were going to do. Like I wasn't at the game too. We all were."So who's the beauty you came with?" Aidan, who had added only two words to the banter finally asked.Heads turned including mine to concentrate on the girl who sat beside Sky, her bronzed skin looking air brushed to although visible stretch marks could be spotted, it only added to how real she looked. Her d

  • That Girl In Glasses   7. Urgh y*u are so cheesy.

Morowa.Golden flecks buried deep in hazel orbs, he finally asked the question I was sure lingered on the tip of his tongue. "So you're coming right?""I don't think so." I replied reluctantly. It wasn't that I didn't want to see him play but I didn't want to send out the wrong signal. The whole female population would have my head, if they found out that Sky, the popular of all popularity (no pun intended) had personally invited me (a.k.a unknown individual) to this game and I actually loved my head no matter how much the hair could be a pain in my butt on a good day."So that's a maybe?" He still had a hopeful glint in his eyes."I'll think about it." I said after closing my locker to get a good look at him. "Why do you want me to be at this game so bad anyway?"His expression remained blank but I knew he was ha

Warren."What do you think about the school trip?" Kris asked from beside me. She twirled one of her curls on her index finger."I think this trip is some opportunity for teachers to slack on the job." I said before looking at the front of the class and taking a glance at the door. Why is class always lacking the teacher until thirty minutes into first period? I'm lazy and all but that doesn't mean I don't want to learn."I heard there's even a whole tour on the tower." quipped in Vivian, one of Kris's friends in a way, even though she's not as mean or scandalous as Kris while looking at me from beneath her faux lashes."Yay." I said with enthusiasm as fake as her lashes. "What if—""Don't ruin our mood with your what ifs again." Ken cut me off from my other side."Besides, this trip could b

  • That Girl In Glasses   5. I kill Cereal not people.

Morowa."Have I ever told you your eyes are to die for?" gushes Sky in a high pitched voice trying to imitate a crazy fan girl."You mean my eyes could kill people with shock?" I raised an eyebrow throwing my head back to laugh. I liked my reputation in school for one thing. No one judged me for anything and the normal gossiping only happens between Kris's circle which I'm sure Sky is part of but that's really not my business if I'm being honest with myself."You know I always wondered who your parents were because of your conflicting eye colors" he sighed as he placed his chin in his arms still in the fan girl act."My parents" I mumbled trying to conjure up any image of them but it's always a failed attempt seeing that I was too young when they passed.
