Devin.

Her voice came out in a soft whisper beside me. "This is just breathtaking. I'm impressed."

Hair dancing to the tune of the wind like a snake to an animal whisperer.

With one of her eyes a hazel colour and the other the natural brown colour, she could easily be classed a freak of nature but that's not the case at all.

People just don't understand that she is rare and you don't judge rare because of their conflicting eye colors. You accepted then because they were one in a million.

I squeeze her smaller hand tighter, enjoying the warm heat she radiated.

The beach was just a few feet below us as we stood at the rocky cliff. How we even got here is a mystery to me though.

"As am I." I replied without looking at the view which she was openly admiring.

Shades of Red, purple, yellow, blue and orange mixed together above us in perfect harmony to represent a breathtaking sunset. Though I'm less disposed to acknowledge it's radiance due to the wonderful delight beside me.

She blushed at my compliment as she ducked her head avoiding my eyes.

I raise my hand placing it below her chin, marveling at the silkiness before pushing it upwards and being rewarded with her slightly flushed face and a shy smile.

"Morowa!" Screamed an all too familiar voice.

She abruptly turned towards the voice, her heart-stopping smile arresting the muscles of her face when she spots the person behind me.

"Hey!" She called back, removing her hands from mine, a strange hollowness at the absence of the soft feel of her small hand in mine.

She approached him, the winds tugging at her skirts did no harm. Instead they clung her skirt to hug her generous curves, placed her hands on his chest as he clutched at her thick waist pulling her flush against his chest and kissed him softly.

"No." I whispered to myself feeling like someone just dragged my heart to hell and back.

"Did you really think she would ever be yours?" Sky laughed while gripping her waist tighter.

I continued looking at her but she gazed up at Sky, not even acknowledging my existence.

"When you get rid of those braces and have enough wit,  you can try to approach her." he challenged with the cruel yet smug expression before finally turning to her.

I stood in absolute horror at they shared another kiss but more passionate this time.

Everything moved at the speed of a tornado with the earth shifting under my feet.

"Morowa, no." I tried again feeling my voice come out in a vain attempt at deceiving myself, knowing this did nothing to change facts.

She didn't like me. She saw nothing in me. Her rejection stung to say the least.

A bag of bricks heavy and hard settled in my chest region as pain makes a journey from my spine to the rest of my upper body.

"Wake up!" I heard a familiar loud male voice.

"Don't worry, I have just the thing to wake him." another voice but feminine asserted but before I can comprehend what's about to happen, I'm enveloped in water as cold as ice shocking me into snapping my eyes open to see the criminals.

"Oh, you're awake." Quinn notes like she didn't just soak me and my bed.

I struggle to get up from my now soaked bed making my way over to them. More like stomping over to them. "Care to explain?"

"You weren't awake and there's no better way to wake you up." Kingsley answered, rolling a piece of gum in his cheeks.

"Get out. Now." I manage to squeezed through clenched teeth as they continued to gaze up at me like I had grown two heads on my shoulders.

"We will." Kingsley speaks up but instead of heading to the door,  approaches my desk and fiddles with the paper weight that I had no idea how it got there but that's really not my focus right now.

"After you answer just one question." Continued Quinn holding up her index finger.

I swear the way they complete each others sentences is creepy. Minus the fact that they literally shared a womb before coming into the world.

"Fine" I surrender knowing that they won't leave until I answer whatever question they have. For mere thirteen year olds,  they sure had the coconut head will.

"Who is Moro..." Kingsley trails off with narrowed eyes and a slight frown.

"Wa! Morowa, you said that name before we decided your nightmare had gone on for too long." Quinn continued while narrowing her curious eyes at me.

"She's no one,  now leave" I say in a tone that should tell them I'm really in no mood for their questions and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Okay." Kingsley sings while walking in the direction of the my room door opening it.

"Morowa and Devin sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-"

"Stop now!" I snap cutting him off while Quinn completed the song pushing her twin out the door.

I sit at my desk thinking of ways to communicate with her without her knowing my identity when an idea presents itself in my head. I'm going to have to wait until after school hours to carry out my brilliant plan.

I hope this works.

***

The class started minutes ago and she isn't here yet?. What happened?.

I begin tapping my feet on the floor restlessly. I remember telling her about the test last week so why isn't she here yet?. She's never late.

"Devin, what do you think about that new coffee shop around the corner?" Pearl's small voice drags me out of my thoughts.

"What coffee shop?" I asked tearing my gaze away from the door to look at her.

"So I take it,  you weren't listening at all" added TJ,  with Ryan trying to contain his snicker. Real mature.

"Don't worry about that." Pearl dismissed with a wave of her hand."I want to know what has your attention so much that you don't remember what I said in the first place."

I can't tell her can I? I mean I like Morowa but she's never going to notice me in a million light years. We weren't even in the same spear of friends.

She was in a way part of the popular group because I'd seen her with some cheerleaders the other day but she was also a nerd because she never misses classes or so I thought because she isn't here.

Which leads me to the question I want answers for. Where is she? The class quietened down before the teachers unimpressed voice fills the new silence.

"Okay, pop up quiz." she announced in a croaky voice,  cracking a small smile when a collective round of groaning was heard throughout the class.

After the paper got to me,  I glanced at the teacher from beneath my lashes. She made herself comfortable in her chair behind the desk watching us like an hawk.

I looked over the questions. Simple enough. Nothing new but I still wanted to wait a little so, leaving my pencil untouched on my desk, I surveyed the now grave silent class.

Everyone else hunched over their paper, some chewing on the end of their pencils in thought and some just marking without thinking; some I'm sure definitely know what they're doing and the other half I'm positive just wished to flunk the test since our doesn't make the grade.

"Devin." the teachers voice disturbed my thoughts.

"Here." I replied resulting in a round of snickers and chuckles from the amused class.

"Is there a problem?" She asked not moving from her position.

"Not that I know of ." I shrugged avoiding making eye contact with her, my eyes making their journey to glance at the door saying at silent prayer that she would burst through the door.

"Then start." She commanded with resolve.

I pick up my pencil and start by writing my name on the space provided for that purpose.

I heard the door open quickly like the person on the other side couldn't wait to be here. Please be her.

A guy in a tight cotton shirt, under a leather jacket and jeans came into view. I think his name is Sky or something along the line of that.

"Nice of you to finally join us." Her voice held an irritated note but she also managed to sound bored and wary of the pair that just made an appearance.

Ignoring Sky, I looked at her. Surprisingly,  she dumped her favorite look of oversized shirts and baggy pants.

Today, her generous curves popped in a yellow dress shirt with flats. I'm sure half the male population see what I see.

Their eyes practically taking her clothes off. Why am I surprised?

It's very obvious I'm infatuated with her but I know she won't accept me. She deserves way better than me.

I heard the collective round of laughs as I'm brought back to harsh reality.

She just said a few words to Sky which I didn't register and walked to her seat while the material of her dress sways with the movements of the dress, the now hot males marveling at the sway of her hips combined with the movement of her very luscious backside.

She doesn't even see the commotion and confusion she causes which I'm glad for.

Damn, she's gorgeous. I wonder what life would be like if she accepted me.

"Pstt D." I heard TJ's harsh whisper from my left but I continue staring at the back of a particular head full of rich, black wild hair as she concentrated on writing her test.

"We'll talk later then." He dismissed after I don't respond.

I tear my gaze away from the very interesting subject which sat a few chairs in front of me to spare him a glance. "Okay."

***

Constant murmuring of conversations between the hungry students full the air with a faint buzz. AJ and Ryan, having the usual arguments and bickering like an old couple.

"So, Dev." AJ was the first to call my name after his argument with Ryan.

Pearl sat with her cheerleader friends. At least she's not as shallow the other girls on the team. She's one of the few nice people who also happens to be popular but she doesn't let that all get to her head.

"Why can't Pearl just bring her nicer cheerleader friends over here to our table?" I ask in attempt of steering clear of any questions regarding my behavior at first period.

"Don't even try to dodge this." Ryan warns with calm fire in his eyes. "What was that about at first period?".

The question I've been avoiding finally makes an appearance.

I avoid their penetrating gazes and look between them to study her expression. Her eyes held am amused glint behind her glasses as her friend narrates something to her. She's just so damn beautiful that it hurts sometimes.

"Nothing."

"Nothing?" Disbelief colored his voice. "Didn't look like nothing to me. Something is definitely up."

"What makes you say so?" I asked once again tearing my gaze of her and paying attention to the half eaten sandwich in my hand.

"Okay, firstly,  for the past few days,  you always seem distant like you're in a totally different place." Ryan stated.

"Remember last Friday when I asked you for your Notebook?" AJ continued.

"Not really" I reply, observing the little cracks on my table which seemed oddly more interesting than the conversion in play.

"Well, I do." He paused still observing my face and I dare not look at him.

A male figure join their table of two. Sky. I try not to frown as she laughed in her angelic voice at whatever Sky said. I wish her laugh would be directed at me for once.

AJ and Ryan,  probably noticing that my frown wasn't directed at them,  turned to where I continued watching the exchange. I'm sure I'm the twin of the famous green eyed monster that is jealousy.

"Val?" AJ searched my eyes to see of he's correct in his false prediction.

Did these two really not see the beauty the is my only desire?. I don't care if I sound cheesy or cliché right now.

"As if." I scoff looking away from the scene which caused a dull pain to settle in my chest.

"The other girl?" AJ tried again.

Wow. Despite the fact that Val and Morowa were friends,  everyone only acknowledge Val but clearly didn't see Morowa. I apply a frown to my features.

"She has a name you know?" I snap back.

Shock married their features and I instantly regret using the force of my jealousy on them.

"Oh,  so she's the one that's been taking over you for since this semester?" Ryan eyed me cautiously probably walking in eggshells around me on the topic of my apparent love. If you wanted to call it that.

"Isn't it obvious now?" I don't even try to hide the sadness in my voice.

"Not really." TJ confirmed also eyeing me. "You've actually done a great job at hiding it".

"You should make a move sooner or later before someone else snatches her away." Ryan advises before taking a sip from his juice box. I laugh in response.

"Like she would actually give me the time on day." I reply while nibbling at my now unattractive sandwich. I'm suddenly not hungry anymore.

"Why wouldn't she?" asked TJ like I has just told him that a whale laid a egg and I saw it.

"Because I'm not her type." I state the lame excuse more to myself than to them. "Look,  let's talk about this some other time please".

And with that, I escaped the chocked atmosphere at the cafeteria but not before sparing her a long glance.

I really hope my plan works.

  • That Girl In Glasses   10. Sure boo. I'm here for y*u.

Morowa. You know that one time in the night or early morning when you feel like sleep escaped from your life or it suddenly went on a vacation when you needed it the most? That's the only explanation for being awake right now.'2:18am' the red glowing lights from my alarm clock displayed.I had been counting the invisible dust motes in the air for what felt like forever. I needed a distraction. With this in mind, I picked up my glass case from my bedside table, opened it and slipped it on my nose. There was no way I was going to lie here and be bored out of my mind. So I was going to do something about it.Why don't you just read? But that was it. I didn't feel like reading. After slipping my feet into my Pokémon slippers (yeah, you heard right), I exited my room, takin

  • That Girl In Glasses   9. I should walk y*u home.

Warren."So what is this proposal you have for me?" Benjamin cut to the tea of the matter because formalities were definitely not his line of expertise."I know you help my father with his work when he wants to discovery a mole in his business." I spoke before taking a sip from the hot coffee on the table."Yes, I am on a strong professional relationship with your father and his business but I don't know what exactly you could possibly want me to do for you, " he replied before picking his cup and repeating my earlier actions.Mr. Boyer was definitely the man job with his professional approach to everything. His eyes light and curious. He looked at everything around him

  • That Girl In Glasses   8. Who's the beauty y*u came with?

Vector."Yeah, and that touchdown at the last minute was totally unexpected." Callum smacked the surface of the almost metallic table of the booth we occupied. "You should have seen Fraser's face."He went ahead to immediate what only looked like the expression of a chocking whale to me.Laughter erupted from the throats of everyone in the booth causing the air around me to vibrate.I didn't even know why I agreed to come here if this was all they were going to do. Like I wasn't at the game too. We all were."So who's the beauty you came with?" Aidan, who had added only two words to the banter finally asked.Heads turned including mine to concentrate on the girl who sat beside Sky, her bronzed skin looking air brushed to although visible stretch marks could be spotted, it only added to how real she looked. Her d

  • That Girl In Glasses   7. Urgh y*u are so cheesy.

Morowa.Golden flecks buried deep in hazel orbs, he finally asked the question I was sure lingered on the tip of his tongue. "So you're coming right?""I don't think so." I replied reluctantly. It wasn't that I didn't want to see him play but I didn't want to send out the wrong signal. The whole female population would have my head, if they found out that Sky, the popular of all popularity (no pun intended) had personally invited me (a.k.a unknown individual) to this game and I actually loved my head no matter how much the hair could be a pain in my butt on a good day."So that's a maybe?" He still had a hopeful glint in his eyes."I'll think about it." I said after closing my locker to get a good look at him. "Why do you want me to be at this game so bad anyway?"His expression remained blank but I knew he was ha

  • That Girl In Glasses   6. A blonde at Fifties?

Warren."What do you think about the school trip?" Kris asked from beside me. She twirled one of her curls on her index finger."I think this trip is some opportunity for teachers to slack on the job." I said before looking at the front of the class and taking a glance at the door. Why is class always lacking the teacher until thirty minutes into first period? I'm lazy and all but that doesn't mean I don't want to learn."I heard there's even a whole tour on the tower." quipped in Vivian, one of Kris's friends in a way, even though she's not as mean or scandalous as Kris while looking at me from beneath her faux lashes."Yay." I said with enthusiasm as fake as her lashes. "What if—""Don't ruin our mood with your what ifs again." Ken cut me off from my other side."Besides, this trip could b

  • That Girl In Glasses   5. I kill Cereal not people.

Morowa."Have I ever told you your eyes are to die for?" gushes Sky in a high pitched voice trying to imitate a crazy fan girl."You mean my eyes could kill people with shock?" I raised an eyebrow throwing my head back to laugh. I liked my reputation in school for one thing. No one judged me for anything and the normal gossiping only happens between Kris's circle which I'm sure Sky is part of but that's really not my business if I'm being honest with myself."You know I always wondered who your parents were because of your conflicting eye colors" he sighed as he placed his chin in his arms still in the fan girl act."My parents" I mumbled trying to conjure up any image of them but it's always a failed attempt seeing that I was too young when they passed. "They went to the sky
