Chapter 8 :Lets go on a date .

I stormed through the front door of my house to quickly find mom and Jack ; not only did I want to talk to them about the text I wanted to make sure they are safe. I rushed to the kitchen where I saw mom and Jack. I was wondering why they both are home early I was only  1:30 pm at the time. I brushed the thoughts away and decided to have them both come in the living room.

I made Mom and Jack sit on the sofa while I sat on the ottoman in front of them.

" ok what is so important that you made me left from eating my pepperoni pizza", he was waving the pizza in front of me tempting me to swat his. Because I was sure he couldn't sense I was being serious at the moment. I started glaring at him I was about to shout at him when mom suddenly spoke," ok honey what's wrong you look very terrified and very pale", she came forward and grab my hands into her's . "it's ok sweetie what ever is wrong you can tell us", she was soothing me to calm down by rubbing my hand with her thumb.

so I  decided to tell her from the beginning at had occur at the mall today." ok so this is what happened today. well the six of us decided to go to the mall today ,because we were sent home from school because of a gas leak at school. "

" you had a gas leak at school . you have to stay at home right and how many days you have to stay home" , mom said as she was worried. " yes we had and we have to stay home three days and can I continue without being interrupted."  They both nodded realizing that it was something very important and Jack motioned his hand for me to continue.

" ok so where was I . oh yeah, we went to see a movie at the mall , when the movie had finished we decided that we would go to star bucks and them come back here . But when we were in the parking lot there was a message on the phone that made very terrified that I would love any of my friends and you guys.", I was on the verge of tears , at that moment my brother came closer to me ," what kind of message Jane can we see it ". he grabbed my hand in his , I didn't want him to see it because I didn't want him to worry about me.

I knew he sense that I didn't want him to read the message. He decided to go over where my bag was placed and opened it and took the phone out. when he opened the chat room of the unknow number I could sense that he was very worry because that message was way worse than the one yesterday. he went over to the couch where mom was seated and just dropped down in it ,and then handing mom the phone.

she then came closer to me and holding my hands ," so sweetie what are you going to do about it".

" I just wanted to know if I should tell one of my friends", I was chocking back the tears at that moment .

" ok if that's what you want then so be it . And which one of your friends do you want to tell", still holding my hands , I knew that she noticed that my hands were trembling.

" Marcel", I told her and at that moment I started to cry and mom just hugged me and rubbing her hands up and down my back .

" sweetie I know you are going to get through this", she whisper in my ears.

She let go of me and Jack handed me the bucket of mint ice cream. he always know how to cheer me up , I didn't even realize that he bent over and hugged me ,

" Jane it is ok you will be ok . And I am always here for you no matter what", he was stroking my head . As he did that I wonder if he was the big brother and I was the little sister.

when he let go of me I was still sobbing , I looked at the ice  cream and decided to start eat it. it didn't help me to stop crying at all.  But my mom and brother were beside me making sure I was alright.

" Jane what's wrong ", the three of us were shocked at the moment when we turn to the right I saw Marcel and the rest of them including Scott  just looking at me.

"nothing really why " , wiping my tears away.

" oh kids I need to talk to my children right now so can you all go in the basement and please lock the door", gesturing in the direction of the basement. Marcel realize what is going on because he has seen this too many times. Because whenever mom wants to have a serious talk with us  she always does it.

When she was sure they had left she made us sit down and I could sense that she was nervous because she was pacing back and forth in the living room. At that time I regain myself,

" Mom what's up, you look very nervous ", trying to make her calm down .

she sat down on the ottoman where I was seated," ok then fine but kids don't get mad at me right".

why would we be mad what had she done did she murder someone , or did she meet my father. a bunch of thoughts were going through my head at the moment .

"no we won't", I gestured for her to continue what she was saying.

"ok you guys promise not to get mad right", she took a deep breath.

" I am engaged", she said it so fast that  she didn't realize that she wasn't breathing.

wow that's a shocker that mom is engaged , I am both happy and scared at the same time , and why would she think we would be mad , Jesus I am happy for her she has worked so hard . I went over to her and pulled her to the couch.

"we are not mad mom", both Jack and I said.

"really", still feeling unsure that we might be mad .

" Mom we are happy for you", I leaned in and hugged her and so did Jack.

I could see she was happy.

" oh no don't get too happy ", waving a finger in her face.

"we have to meet him and test him first", Jack said while getting up folding his hands below his chest and tapping his feet on the ground.

" exactly ! but first you will answer these questions for me ", I know that she knew this would happened.

"ok ask away my dear children", she sat up in the chair.

" Who is he ? And when did he propose", looking at her ready to answer.

" ok that's the only question you guys have for me", looking up at us .

I looked at Jack and he looked at me , we turned to mom and nodded.

"ok first he is my boss", when she looked up at us she knew we were froze.

what he is her boss oh my god this like the those romance books of those billionaire boss. As long as she is happy.

" And secondly he propose the day I brought home the ice cream.", she said looking at us for and answer.

So the day that she brought home the ice cream was the day she got propose and not the day she had the promotion. So why didn't she tell us that day; maybe it is because  it is because she was afraid we might be angry at her.

All of us were in silence for about five minutes.

" honey I don't mean to be unfair but I didn't know what was going on with your life at this time and he will be here in five minutes", she looked down at her watch.

My mom had a hard life it is only fair that she have some happiness in her life , she definitely deserves it.

" ok so he will be here in five minutes right . I will interview him."

Mom just smiled at me and nodded she went to the basement to let my friends know they can come out and went back to the  kitchen and continue what she was doing and I  continue eating the ice cream. All of them came in the room and took a seat . Scott took a seat next to me and kept on looking at me and back at the ice cream ;no one said nothing at the moment it took them a while for them to say something.

" what happened", marcel whispered to me .

"you will know in about three minutes", while looking at my phone.

When I looked at all of them in room right about this moment . I knew from the look of their faces they wanted to know what happened . I decided to take a last spoonful of ice cream. It wasn't far from my lips when Scott grabbed it out of my hand and place it straight in his mouth. I was about to fight back at him , but I didn't get to because the door bell rang  having Jack and I stared straight at mom's direction. when I wasn't paying attention to the ice cream bucket I had between my legs , Scott took the chance to grabbed it from me.

Normally I would fight back but this time I was paying attention to mom as she answered the door, I could see that her eyes lit up and she was smiling . it has a very long time since I saw her smiled like that . when he entered the house  the first thing I saw was that he was well dressed .

He had very blond hair that was jelled back , had worn a grey single breasted suit and a cap toe dress shoe. He hugged my mom and kissed her on the cheek  I noticed that they both love each other . I noticed that she whisper something to him , I am pretty sure she told him I am going to interview him.

my friends and I  got up , they went and stand by the fire place while I sat on the ottoman that was not far from the couch. I had suddenly started to feel hot as started sweating I decided to take off the hoddie since I had a tank top it was a backless one at that . the tank top had exposed most of the tattoos . Jack collected the hoodie, but it was still hot that was when I realise that the ac was off , I had brushed that away and took the hair tie that was on my hand and tied my hair in a high pony tail . I could see everyone watching me.

"what", I glared at them.

" um nothing it's just that we have never seen you like that in along time", Marcel eyed the tank top and the pony tail.

" well it's hot , and who took off the AC", I turned and saw that it was Jennifer who had turned it off .I didn't have the time to tell her anything.

All of them were behind me  watching mom and her guest come in the living room. The both of them took a seat in the couch and mom began her introductions.

"Samuel this is my eldest Jane , my youngest Jack and her friends ; Marcel who is her best friend, Cody , Jennifer , colt and Scott he is our neighbor. And kids this is Samuel Cooper", she was very worried at what I would ask him . So she lipped to me, "go easy on him please". Oh I never go easy on any one who wants to be close to my mother.

" Ok I am going to ask you some questions and if you answer them then I can give my mom to you and don't any of you disturb me or I am going to kill you" , I  watched him and then glared at my friends.

"ok", they all answered together. Scott and Jack were both of my sides , Scott still had my bucket of ice cream in his hand eating away.

Samuel looked at mom and then nodded, ok so let the questioning begin I just hope he answers  right.

"where are you from", that was the first question I asked him , I knew he was thinking that this is going to be easy.

"oh I am from England", I could sense that he was nervous because he was shaking his feet . Well that's one sign that shows he is serious with mom. Plus he is from the same country from  where mom's from. I have to think of a next question , oh I got one.

" Where did you two meet", I still had my serious face on so that I would look very intimidating to him.

It  actually helped because I could see that his hands started trembling . He must have taught that he was having a meeting with his mother - in-law at the moment.

" We went to high school together", looking at me for a response . I had froze for a couple seconds because whenever we would ask her if she had ever loved any else expect my father before she said yes.

I looked over to him and saw that he was staring at the floor and playing with the hem of his Jacket.  So I decided when I finished asking him questions I would ask her to make sure.

" Do you know why my parents divorced", I didn't want to ask that question but I had to in order to know that he knew everything about her.

" yes I know", I could see he was getting angry that's when I realize that he knew what happened. I didn't want him to get any more mad at the moment.

" OK that is all the questions I have for you", he looked at me wanting to know if whether he passed or not, he was patiently waiting for my answer.

"ok you passed the test , you guys are getting married in next summer , oh and one more you do anything to hurt my mother I will pretty much kill you ",  he agreed    to everything I said except the part when I said that I would kill him if he ever hurt my . instead he say that he won't hurt her he giggle.

"dude she literally mean it", jack  said to him and the rest of my friends said " yeah she means it".

I wanted her to be happy and not be afraid of every man she walked by .

" hey mom why don't you go on a date tonight and you can stay the night out if you want " , I winked at her she took a pillow and throw it my direction and I ducked immediately and instead it hit Scott directly on his private he had a spoon still in his . when he was hit he bend down holding his private where mom had thrown the pillow .

" Miss Olsen you are going to ruin my chances of having kids", we all laughed at how he was being dramatic .I reached my hand out gesturing for the ice cream he had in his hand . he gave me the ice cream and the spoon. I  started eating the Ice cream and looked at mom and she was still watching me .

"what mom",  I wanted to know why she was staring me down. I then remember about her date that she was suppose have in about fifteen minutes.

"ah mom don't you have a date to go to.", I showed her the time she ran up the stairs to change, we could all hear the tumbling that was happening. She came down stairs holding her makeup bag.

"sweet heart can you do my make up for me please you are very good at it", I can't say no because she is mom she doesn't know the word no in her dictionary at all. I decided to do her make up I handed Scott back the ice cream because he was bugging me for it since I had collected it back .

I had her sit on the  couch she said that she wanted a to do a glam , but base on her outfit I don't think glam would be appropriate at all . so I did a natural look on her . when she collected her things to leave the door bursted open and Jackson came in shouting ," lets have some beer aunt Beatrice won't be home until tonight", he said without knowing that she was right in front of him he started stumbling on his words. we all were trying to hold in our laugh , it was at a limit that we couldn't hold it anymore . All of us started laughing so hard that we nearly cried.

" Ok kids since you guys don't have school tomorrow you can drink ,except for Jack you remember to go to bed on time. After she told us what to do she left .Jackson  let out a breath of relief. All of stayed in the living room talking about life after high school .

I had started to feel cold because the AC was turn back on , I collected back the hoodie from Jack and put it on.

"hey Marcel we  have to go back to school on Thursday right", making sure I was right.

" yeah what happened ", so I decided to tell him and soon too .

" oh I just want to know if you have time on Wednesday", I knew he knew that something was wrong.

"yeah I have time ", he answered quickly that when I knew that he knew something was up.

"Lets go on a date , on that day", I  noticed that everyone was staring at us even though we were talking for ourselves to hear each other.

" Sure let's go to the same place right", I nodded .

" Are you guys dating", colt started asking questions.

"No they are not dating, they are going and talk about some important stuff", Cody explaining to them.

" oh and those two are inseparable, which means they tell each other everything.", Cody explained even further. He was about to say something else when Marcel cut him off and said lets watch a movie . I suspected that he got the hint because he hadn't said another word about that topic after . Marcel collected the remote and started looking through our Netflix history and then went to family movies, and he actually picked a family movie . Normally he would pick drama he is  a guy who is in love with drama movies .

we all were seated in the chairs Marcel , Scott ,Colt and I were on the couch and Jennifer , Jackson ,Cody and Jack were on the other chairs around the coffee table. I  was beginning to feel lazy so prop my head down on Marcel thighs and place my feet up on both Scott and colt they didn't mind at all when the movie was finish .

Colt suggested that we play aboard game . I had notified them that we only had monopoly in this house . They still wanted to play so we all started playing it was after a couple of hours that we realized it was late and all of my friends went home and Jack decided to go to bed . Everyone went home except for Scott I don't know why but  all day today he was very sad from what I can see. I wanted to ask him what was the problem but I didn't bother because because we were not that close.

"Scott if you are going to sleep over tonight you can . I just letting you know", his expression changed a little. 

He was a bit happy at what I said , maybe he needed someone.

I was very tired so I decided to go take a shower and hit bed early . when I finished taking my shower I got back in my room not only to find Scott but he was lying on my bed .

"so Jane I decided that I would sleep over." " ok cool I will get you some blankets and a pillow for you to sleep on the couch." " I am not sleeping on a couch. I am sleeping here with you"

Did he just say he was going to sleep with me . Well it's not a big deal I have slept with Marcel all ready. I told that it was ok and he was taking off his clothes.

" what are you doing". "I am getting ready for bed . I don't like sleeping with clothes on". " ok fine but leave your pants on or you are going to sleep on the couch". he left his pants on . we both went to sleep and I didn't know when I fell asleep but I did.
