LOGINWarren Lang was just saying goodbye to a group of tourists whom he had been leading through the wilderness of Brazil for the past two weeks and was happy to finally get rid of these terrible city-people.
He hadn't been used to being around so many people for a long time. Warren had lived secluded in the woods for several months, enjoying the peace and quiet. He didn't have to worry about money anyway. He'd had enough of that, after all.
One of the largest and most successful Internet companies in the world belonged to his clan. But he had never really been interested in this business, much to the chagrin of his father and clan leader.
With his age, Warren had long since ceased to count as a boy or even a thug, but still his father tried to convince himself that over and over again so that he would not get mad about his eldest son's way of life.
After all, he should one day continue the family business. It was not for nothing that he had sent him to the best schools and universities at an early age. But this kid had to play the monkey as a tourist guide in the jungle for the tourists. And that was more than unworthy of his eldest son.
Even if Ephraim Lang couldn’t imagine anyone, except himself, of course, who knew their way around these woods better and could dive into hiding than Warren. After all, he had taught him all of this himself.
However, Ephraim could somehow understand his son. Back when he was still Warren's age, he would have chosen this life too, if his father had not spontaneously blessed the time and thus he had to take over the clan business.
But Warren, too, would come to his senses at some point. And Warren's father wasn't about to let the helm be taken out of his hand, let alone relinquish it voluntarily. So he could allow Warren some time to dream.
Plus, on closer inspection, it wasn't bad at all that Warren was keeping an eye on these crazy people who called themselves tourists. It is impossible to imagine what could happen if they stumbled through the jungle alone or with another guide.
Actually, this was the main reason why Ephraim had let his son do it for so long. He protected the secrets of the clan with his “work” very effectively.
When all the tourists were on the bus and it finally started moving, Warren exhaled audibly. He had feared that this one older couple might change their minds and extend their stay. That would have put Warren's patience to the test.
He had never met people like these two. They looked old and quirky, but behind that facade were two of the world's greatest tormentors and, surprisingly, they were still amazingly fit.
Not only did they scare off all the animals on their route through the forest with their photo flash, no, they also wanted to take home the numerous plants on their way for their personal collection, even though they were under nature protection.
And several times they had secretly left the camp at night in order to march through the jungle on their own and not only to enter the approved paths. Warren had to bring her back to camp just as often. Of course, this never happened without some discussion and various excuses. And since the two apparently had a very large bank account, there was of course the possibility for them to extend their vacation immeasurably.
But somebody seemed to feel sorry for Warren. On one of the last days in the jungle, they were already on their way back to the starting point of the expedition, the old man's satellite phone suddenly rang. He had moved away from the group for the conversation so that no one could hear the call, except of course Warren with his excellent hearing.
Everything was calm again. Well, insofar as one could speak of calm in a jungle. A couple of monkeys scurried by right next to Warren's house and other animals relaxed more and more. The danger was over - for now.Lany sat very still and listened for the noises that were so completely different and yet somehow familiar. She just didn't know why. Also, she only realized now that she was still clinging to Warren. She hadn't felt so safe with anyone since early childhood. And either Warren was asleep by now or he was enjoying the quiet get-together with her too. She couldn't really imagine the latter, however. Because it was only too obvious that he hadn't wanted to take her with him in the first place. It was only because Rosa had told him, no, even ordered, that she was here now.Lany still couldn't believe what almost happened. Of course it was dangerous in the jungle. She had already realized that when she booked the trip. But then being co
While Rosa was finishing her report, one of the two always listened for the noises outside the bar. Not that this stranger secretly overheard her and found out that Rosa knew more than she had told him. But nothing could be heard. He really seemed to have gone to his quarters. Better for him - they decided. It was only early morning when he woke up in that shabby little room, in the shabbier bed. But what do you not endure to achieve your goal? The first rays of sun fell through the dirty window and he decided that he had waited enough. True to the motto: Only the early bird catches the worm, he dressed and went down to the reception. He hoped that there would at least be breakfast here that wouldn't give you one or the other unpleasant bowel disease. When he got downstairs, he was surprised that someone was actually already working here. A young woman stood behind the counter, leafing through a tattered newspaper. He asked for breakfast and
He headed straight for her. His hunger had not yet been satisfied. But he had to make sure the young woman was okay. He'd already suspected it wasn't a good idea to leave her here all alone. And he really hadn't moved very far. Warren came to a stop right in front of his bed, in front of Lany. She seemed to be in shock because she did not move, but sat upright and still breathed - "Thank gods" -. That was really close. He should have been fucking careful. But this wouldn't have happened in the first place if he hadn't taken her with him. "What a damn crap !!!"Warren didn't even dare touch Lany, let alone speak to her. He just stood motionless in front of her for a while. When she still didn't move, he tried a little push. "Ms. Briscott? ... Lany? Are you all right? ”Hm, somehow he had just experienced it recently. And again she began to move very slowly and finally looked in his direction."Warren? Warren, what just happened? Lany's v
There was no sound as the huge big cat moved smoothly through the underbrush. Everyone in her immediate area knew she was hunting. All of their potential victims had retired to their hiding places so as not to end up as their snack.Quietly and very skillfully, four huge black paws made their way through the forest. In between the panther stopped and listened. It was a magnificent animal. Bigger and stronger than its other kind and as black as the blackest night. Anyone who caught such an animal among all the poachers would have cared for for his life. But until now no one had ever caught him. The big cat didn't miss the slightest sound. High above him he heard the monkeys scurrying softly through the branches. Shortly before him, a little mouse ran quickly into its cave. And again and again a very special scent rose in his nose, but he seemed to feel that he was not allowed to follow it. Therefore, he moved purposefully in the opposite direction.
Lany was getting more and more tired. She stumbled the whole time and fell every few meters over the numerous roots that so "helpful" stretched out of the ground towards her. She didn't even know how long they had been wandering through this forest and still they hadn't reached Warren's camp. Maybe he was lost? After all, she couldn't put one foot in front of the others and just turned over from exhaustion.“Oh man, I was just missing that. Such a crap. Why couldn't I just leave her with Rosa. Then this guy would have found her! So what? What is it to me? In any case, I would have finally had my peace. But no, I had to play the great hero. I really had to take her with me, and now? ”While Warren shouldered the exhausted Lany, he mumbled to himself and didn’t let any good hair on himself. It annoyed him too much and he just couldn't understand what had made him want to help this woman and finally take her with him.She was s
Finally Lany looked in the direction of the door and saw that Rosa had just entered the hallway and bolted the door. She came up to them both and looked worriedly at Lany. Then Rosa turned her gaze to Warren alone for a moment and then, without saying a word, moved to the other, locked door to open it. After entering the small room herself, she waved to Warren and Lany and pointed to another door in that room. Warren gave her a briefly startled expression, but it vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Maybe Lany was just wrong about that. Rosa whispered something to Warren before letting them both outside through the door just shown. They seemed to be at the back of the building now and it seemed that Warren knew exactly what to do. Lany followed without resisting. They were moving fast so Lany could barely keep up with him. And since it was already dark, Warren was careful to keep them in the shadows. Nobody should discover them, nobody should even suspect that they had jus
