Six months had gone by since she left, and Kiera sat in her father’s home on the fort holding her baby boy. The crown granted her and Dominic’s divorce a month after they arrived at the fort. She hoped with the baby she would have things to do but her son slept most of the time. She hated to say that she was bored being here and her father noticed. He came in one day to inform her of decision he had made. He realized she needed to be around people.

“My dear.”

“Father?”

“I am sending you back to London. You are dreadful here and your friends are in London. Olivia should be there, too.”

“Are you sure, father. You said you wanted me here due to what happened.”

“Yes, my dear. You will be happier there.”

“Thank you, father.”

He kissed the top of her head and kissed the babe.

Her father sent a letter to the Duke and told him that his daughter and his son had a son. The Duke and Duchess were overjoyed to have a grandson and sent for the General to send her to them. Jared escorted her to the Duke’s mansion out in the country. When she arrived, she knew they had already gotten her father’s letter. Candice, Garret’s mother, was overjoyed to see her. She took the baby and stared in awe at him. Jason looked just like his father. The Duke made the decision to give Jason the Bradford name. The Duke took her under his protection and made the story that Dominic had whisked her out to see and Garret had saved her life. Afterwards, they had rekindled their past relationship. Dominic had stolen her back and her father found out and forced the divorce. She was grateful for their protection and knew no one would question what had happened. Most of London knew how fast Kiera and Dominic’s relationship went downhill. No one thought it surprising that after Kiera left the fort. She and her son stayed for a few weeks at the Bradford’s country estate.

While she was there, she noticed Jared and Olivia getting closer and she wondered how long their relationship had been going on. She smiled at the thought of her brother finding love and happiness with Olivia. She didn’t think of it much, though. Thinking of them made her think of Garret. She frowned when she thought of Garret. She often wondered what he was doing or wasn’t doing. That made her thoughts trail to Sheila and refused to entertain those thoughts, it hurt to much. It hurt so much, and she was so mad when she left, she tore off her pendant and left it on Garret’s desk. She sometimes wished she didn’t leave her pendant, but she could bare to bring it either. She often thought about him, mainly because she and Jason stayed in Garret’s room. Back in London, the Duke insisted that Kiera, Jason, and Olivia stay at their mansion in Berkley Square. She once again stayed in Garret’s room and one of the guest rooms were turned into a nursery for Jason. Her father, as well as the Duke, gave them money to live off of for the three of them. She once again was grateful. She went on walks in the park and went to the parties she got invites to. Her friends in London were bragged that she was in the Duke’s family and she had what may be the future Duke of Williamshire. She laughed off the rumors, saying Jason still had an aunt and uncle ahead of him. Most of her friends hoped for her, though.

Keira and Olivia went to James’ funeral, knowing Garret had gotten a letter telling him of his brother’s demise. The Duke had done so much for her and her son, it would be an insult not to go. She also knew that since Scarlet never had any children, if Garret didn’t return, Jason would inherit the title and all of Williamshire. Garret never showed, though. The Duke told her he may still come, and her heart wished he did. Garret had returned home after finding she had left with Jared and returned to the fort to stay with her father. He walked into his study and sat down when something caught his eye; the necklace. The months that followed, he was another person. He had become bitter and downright mean. He sacked ships for sport, took prisoners, and was always deep in his cups. He wanted to distract himself from any thoughts of Kiera. Most nights, he slept in his study; not wanting to be in the room where she slept. No one knew him anymore and even Andy was hard pressed being near him. Six months had gone by and he was brought a letter from Dominic. His first thought was to rip it up and burn it. But you should know that she is pregnant.”“Jerry, what are you talking about?”Garret pushed passed him and stared in shock as he stared at the blood.
