Damini.

"Hey Jimi!" A girl I didn't recognize greeted me. She laid on my bed in just her underwear.

"Hey there.....girl."I said as I stood up from the bed and stretched.

"My name is Meg."The girl snapped angrily"You picked me up from the club last night and we had the ultimate fun."

I ignored her so she continued"Can I do anything?"

I turned to her and replied"You can leave my house,Margret."

Her face turned red and she screamed"My name is Meg!!"

"Get out or I am getting security. I am going to school."I dismissed her.

"I'll be back,Jimi."She said.

"That's not even my real name."I shouted after her as she left.

I sighed and made to brush my teeth and take my bathe. I was having the worst hangover of my life and my head was pounding. My long and untamed curls fell across my face and I pushed it back. My hair was really annoying nowadays. I didn't see what girls saw in it. There are sometimes where I felt like shaving it off.

I brushed my teeth as fast as I could and spent just five minutes in the bathroom.

When I finished dressing in the ugly school uniform,I ran downstairs but bumped into my mom.

"Ibo lo tin bo?"My mother queried in our native language, as soon as she regained her composure.

"Mummy, how are you doing?"I greeted as I tried to change the subject.

"Damini,do you think that I was born yesterday?Who is that girl coming from your room, screaming and disturbing the peace of my home?"

I sighed as I answered"She is just some girl I met in the club yesterday."

My mother grew angry at my nonchalant reply and she screamed"What is wrong with you ?Do you think what you are doing is a good thing? Picking up girls and making unnecessary enemies."

I was getting angrier by the minute at the waste of time and I snapped at her"I have school, mom. Let's talk about this later."

"Don't give me that tone, Damini. I am your mother. And I am already stressed as it is. When you come back, we will talk about this."

"Fine."I huffed dramatically.

She pretended not to notice and she added more salt to my wounds"That is not all. You are the one taking Femi to school today."

**

"Hey bro. How are you?"Femi said as soon as I stepped out of the house. I tried to ignore him but Femi's talent was to annoy people.

"How are you doing,Femi?"I replied forcefully.

He smiled in surprise because I think he didn't expect me to answer him. I entered the car and Femi followed suit.

"Wow,your car is so dope."Femi ran his hands over the interior." I can't believe that we are brothers and I haven't even seen the inside of your car. I can only admire it from afar."

To ease my guilt I told him"You'll get your own car soon."

Femi smiled and relaxed. He didn't say anything again for about two minutes, which was like an impossible feat, knowing how talkative Femi can be

"So the chick who ran out of your room was like totally very ugly."He piped in.

"I don't think my choice of girls is any of your business bro."

"Hmm.....That's where you are wrong."

He said. I swallowed the bile rising in my throat and ignored Femi.

"You don't have to be angry, bro. I think it's the truth. She bleached her skin and her eyes were too big for her head."

I burst out laughing,in spite of myself and Femi looked pleased that he had made me smile.

"Maybe,"I started skeptically"if I don't get grounded today,I will take you to my favourite spot and we would have some fun."

Femi looked shocked for a little moment and he asked "Are you for real?"

I swallowed the 'no' that threatened to come out for my mouth. I said"Yes" quickly before I could change my mind.

I just hope that I didn't regret it.

There had been a time when Femi and I had been really close. He talked and asked too many questions for a grown boy but I had put up with it. When my father got diagnosed with cancer,I became angry and irritated with everyone around me. I stopped talking to Femi and everyone else in the house and I started drinking and picking up girls. No one in school knew anyway, and I prayed they never knew because my life would be destroyed.

**

"Hey Damini."Someone I didn't know slapped my back in a friendly manner.

"Hey Damini."The girls cooed in a flirtatious manner and I winked at all of them which threw them into a giggling mess.

I rolled my eyes discreetly and tried not to laugh at them.

I walked gingerly to our usual spot to meet the rest of the football team. They were all seated and waiting for me.

"Damini. The king himself is here."They all cheered when I reached the table.

What's happening?"I asked raising my eyebrow.

"Caitlin made her dad donate the latest equipment to the school."Someone answered my question.

I looked over to Caitlin's boyfriend,Jeremy and he gave me a sad look.

To me,Caitlin was a very bad person. Jeremy was an awesome football player but she did everything in her power to make sure that he felt inadequate. She compared everything he did to something I would do.

"Look at what you did now,"She would say"is that how Damini did his own?"

The only thing I hated about Jeremy was that he was too soft. He did anything that Caitlin wants without any questions. Sometimes, she just insults him and he doesn't do anything. Other times,he just starts crying for no reason at all.

"I don't see how its me that got Caitlin to do all these."I tried to tell them with my eyes to drop it but my teammates were oblivious of the meaning of the gesture.

"Ahn ahn. Why you dense like this?Na the fine wey take fine,na im cause all this thing oo."Keith, one of very good friends, said in Nigerian pidgin English.

I scoffed at him and tried to ignore him. I looked over at Jeremy and his eyes had welled up.

Oh God,this was the part I hated the most.

A/N:

Hey peeps.

How are you doing? How have you liked the first four chapters so far?

I'm sure you are saying that"Let them meet na!"but my dear impatient readers its all in good time.

So if I have any non Nigerian readers this is the translation for any local language spoken:

Ibo lo tin bo means where are you coming from?

Ahn ahn,why you dense like this?Na the fine wey you take fine na im cause all this things oo means that Hey,why are you so naïve?it's because you are handsome that why she gave us all those things.

So I hoped I helped.

If I missed anything tell me in the comments section.

My mother had beaten me black and blue yesterday as she told me to confess but I told her that there was nothing to confess and she beat me the more because I was using my English to mock her.My stiff muscles and bruises over my arms was proof of how bru

He lost my respect and love when I started to lose reason."I don't see a big deal in this,Omotayo."My father replied, his voice losing all anger that was there before."Of course you don't see the big deal in it!"I exclaimed incredulously. "You never see the big deal in anything."My father raised his hand to smack my face but judging from the look on my face,he stopped and brought it down. Perhaps he thought that if he slapped me I would slap him back. Perhaps, he was right."Watch your tongue,Tayo!"I rolled my eyes and ran upstairs while ignoring ca

No where to hold as I tried get myself together."Damini!"I turned when I heard my name. It was so faint but urgent. I could tell that the voice belonged to a girl."Damini!!"The girl called out to me. Her face was blurry but her voice was as clear as the day. Deep and soft at the same time. I could make out the outline of her hair and I reached out to touch it but as I brought my hand closer she went further away from me."Help me."The voice floated around me because she seemed so far from me now. I still couldn't see her face and I was getting frustrated."Come closer."I shouted at her without meaning to."I can't."Her voice broke as she said those two words."Please!"I said, with a lot of emotions in my voice.
