Short Break For Improvement

2020-09-06 23:08:17Arden is woken up by a maid, saying that he is called to the keep, he got up from his bed, took a shower and wear all the clothes the maid have prepared.
When he opened the door of the keep, he saw a man kneeling on the floor and the duke looking at him from his chair.
Must be Ambrosious, the one that bullied the weaker noble, with an appearance of an arrogant man. The duke turned and face Arden.
"Arden, come here and sit, how do you wish to punish this man"
"i'll let you decide"
"Ambrosious, you hear him right. I'll give you last chance this time, however... You must pay the price of the house you burned to its owner"
"Ye... Yes your highness" it took Arden's time till noon to take care of all the papers work, and then he got the money from Ambrosious.
He then goes to the place where Sean's family stayed and gave all the to sean.

"here is the money from ambrosious for burning your house, sorry for your loss. If I may ask, what is your plan now, are you going to build a new house here?"
"Umm... The duke told us you own a village, we wish to build our house there"
"Wow, great!!"

Sean and Arden are walking when Sean said "umm... Sorry to ruin your time, but I need to go and say goodbye to a friend of mine"

Sean suddenly turn right and Arden followed, which soon led the to a well kept store but no customer are seen.
An old man are standing behind the counter, roughly the same age as Sean, probably at his late 40.
Sean talked to his friend and Arden are looking around for a good sword or armor.
When Arden saw an excellent armor, not a fully plate mail, but have plate on some area and chain mail covering the rest. Not only it offered a great protection, but also flexible for fighting so Arden asked the person behind the counter.
"How much is this?"
"20 aurens"
"So cheap, it's an excellent armor"
"Yes, otherwise my store won't survive"
"Why?"
"Thugs kept asking me for money, I'T just going to retire very soon"
"Can you show me the process of making this armour?"
"Sure, come" Arden just got mindblowed seeing the process.
So Arden asked if he wants to move to Arden's village.
He hesitated at first but agreed later.
Arden paid for the armour and said that he will pick him up from the store tomorrow morning and go to the duke's mansion to rest since it's already night.
On the way back, Arden and Sean met a group of thugs. It's a good time to try his new armor.
The thugs charged bluntly and clearly, they aren't trained for battlefield. One by one of them is taken down by Arden alone while protecting sean at the same time.
One of the thug tried to run away but get knocked out, that's when a patrolling guard came and helped Arden clean the body.
The one thug that got caught are interrogated and put into the dungeon.
The next morning, Arden woke up and get ready, he ate his last meal before leaving the mansion and begun to pack his thing and rent caravans and some horse.
Sean's family are ready to go, so are Arden. Before going, he said good-bye to the duke and hope he will always be in a good luck they picked the blacksmith Arden met yesterday and began their journey to the village of Ailreh, the village Arden owned.
Arden gave a small smile while looking at the city he has been in for 2 days.
He gave a sigh knowing this journey would take a long time and much energy.
On the way, Arden and the blacksmith, Lannis. Is getting to know each other and share some laugh, talking to a man older from him, Arden got some experience.
At a night where all of the people are resting, Arden is just just sitting beside the campfire when Valen came to him.
"Thanks for all you have done for my family"
"No problem, it's my duty to protect the weak and bring justice as knight" Valen the proceed to kiss Arden on the cheek and then go back to her small tent, Arden blushed and smiled knowing he just found the girl he liked.
3 days later, they got to the village of Ailreh, without any problem on the way. Sean's family hearing this, the villagers that has been concerned about their lord gone missing is starting showing smile in their face again.
In the night, there is a feast for their lord that has just came back, happy vibe are given away.
With a short break, Arden felt his thinking are improved and able to make better decision for the improvement of the village.
In the next morning, Arden called the head villager to his manor. The head villager which is called Lian by the other villagers is a humble and honest man.
Lian told Arden that the trade are running smoothly and there is no big problem about the village, Lian then asked.
"Sir, do you want a castle for yourself? I just felt you deserve such a thing, we can construct one if you like"
"Hmm... That would be good, but let's focus on improving the village first" the village is located near the river of Rhine, the river Arden fell to. It would be much better to make a canal for irrigation of the fields.
So they started making a canal for the fields, it improved the life of the villager there.
Surprisingly, the making of the canal took over a month to finish, but they are not in a hurry.
One month has passed, the canal has been made and there is a medium sized manor belonged to Sean's family, they allowed Lannis to live there.
Since Lannis came to the village, the gear's quality of the soldiers has greatly improved, since he is a blacksmith afterall.
Arden also visited Sean's manor oftenly, his relationship with the family and Valen has just gotten better and better.
One day, Arden called Lian to his manor to talk about the improvement of the village. In the end, Lian asked the same question one month ago, about building a castle.
Arden agreed to do it since they have a stable resources. It's expected will take almost 2 years to finish.
