"Could you stop lying for at least a second?"

"I'm not lying to you."

"Not me, if not you," he pointed out. If you keep doing it, there will come a time when you won't be able to distinguish between what is real and what is not.

"Our story ... was real."

-But now I do not know. He frowned, completely beside himself. Awake!

-I'm awake! Angela roared. Every second that passes I am aware that this is all happening for real, but I would give anything to wake up in my bed knowing that it was nothing more than a stupid nightmare, but it turns out that is impossible.

"Is it also impossible for you to stop feeling sorry for yourself?" She bit her lip, her eyes bulging and the veins streaking across her neck. We both know how this will end.

"No, I don't know."

"Then let me enlighten you," he snapped. There will come a time when your feelings will turn against you and then you will go looking for him, wanting to make up for all the lost time. And as the days go by, you will sit and wait for him again, hoping to become something more, when you know that something like that will never happen. Do you know why I know? Because men are that stupid. As long as you make things easy for him, he will not feel obliged to choose, and when he has tired of you at the same time that he is still married, he will look for someone else.

-That is not true!

-Of course it is. The same thing always happens, and you will be the only one who will lose.

Angela got up, standing and gesticulating like a possessed woman, shaking her hands violently.

"You don't know him!" She screamed, tears rolling down her flushed cheeks. You don't know what you're talking about. He would never do such a thing.

"But what are you saying?" For God's sake, stop defending him. He gasped. You know he already has. He is despicable if he is willing to carry on with his marriage charade while he hopes he can play with you when, how and where he pleases.

"He's not playing games with me."

"And what do you want to call it?" It's crazy. He can't pretend to have you both at the same time.

"He doesn't want to do that."

"Of course I do!" He protested. What else do you think he sends you crap from the past for? He wants to keep you waiting.

-Waiting?

"Yes, Angela." She wants to make sure you're there, and if you don't do anything to stop it, she'll believe she has the right to handle both you and her. Actually, it already has. She held her breath, more unsteady by the minute. You say you don't want to break up a marriage. Then get this over with, because that damn obsession is already killing you, and you're so blinded you can't even see it.

"You are wrong again!" Unfortunately I see everything that is happening around me. I have to settle for watching my world fall apart.

"Conform you?" He repeated. Don't go the easy way!

-I do not do it.

Evan's cell phone beeped but he didn't even seem to notice. He was too mad at her for being unable to react.

"Don't you want to be happy?" -I ask.

"Of course I want to be!"

"Then stop looking for him!"

-I do not do it! It is he who is looking for me.

"Don't let him make you exactly what he wants."

Angela let out a sigh, her legs shaking like jelly limbs.

"Become what?"

"You know perfectly well."

"I don't know, Evan." I know absolutely nothing. His gaze was beginning to fill with uncontrollable hatred. You, on the other hand, always seem to have an answer for everything. What do you think I'm going to become?

"Do I really need to say so?"

-Yes! At least that way you will be satisfied! Let's go tell me it!

Evan shrugged, totally dejected, his face contorted, inhuman. I was really sad.

—Let him catch you and you will become his whore, begging him in the shadows to share a few minutes with you while the rest of the time he uses to tell his wife how in love he is with her.

Angela momentarily left her body. Hate sent a strong jolt into her veins and she was forced to do something she was never capable of. He took a step forward and slapped the man on the cheek. Then the high percentage of adrenaline concentrated in her muscles disappeared, exposing her again.

-Sorry! She whispered, surprised by what she had just done. Evan, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean… ""

Leave it alone. He broke away from her. I think the conversation ends here. I can't convince you to try something if your insides are screaming at you to do just the opposite.

He turned and left the bedroom, reaching the exit door. Angela followed him, feeling invisible.

"Forgive me," he whispered. I don't know what happened to me.

"I've never seen anything affect you like that." You may be unable to see it, but I assure you that anyone with two eyes can tell that this is very serious. He gripped the knob tightly before walking away. You said I loved you. Now you know that is not true, otherwise, I would never have done this to you. If a man loves a woman, he lets her know that she is the first, and not a second course to go to from time to time.

The green and blue landscape was deep in his eyes. He felt a lump in his throat, as if returning that way did not bring him good memories. In reality, the island was beginning to become a catalyst for bad luck; first Dorian's accident and now her fainting. He went through the front door and into the living room, but there was no one there. Sure, her parents were in town, working, so she wouldn't be with someone for another few hours. He went up to his room and fiddled with his laptop, hoping to find a response from his friend to the email he sent him. Luckily, when she opened the inbox there was something written for her:

A nice nurse with blonde hair and oversized glasses came into the room bringing the dinner tray with her. Angy would have liked to refuse since she wasn't hungry, but she wouldn't get anything that way, so she just put a good face on him while she prepared everything.-How are you? The nurse asked with a pretty smile.-Better thanks. And you?The lo

She opened her eyes and found herself surrounded by her entire family. The surroundings were cold, unfamiliar, and very white. He had no idea where the hell he was, but the image of the island came to his mind; the last thing she remembered was hearing her cell phone, but she didn't reach for it.His mother sat on the corner of the bed and refused to let go of his hand. His blue eyes were puffy; she had been crying, but Angy didn't know why."Oh, Angy," he whispered. You have finally woken up… "

She was sitting in front of the computer her father used to use when he was home. It was a little slow, but it would do. He had thought of emailing Evan; He had not heard from him since he returned to the island and wanted to inform him of his supposed progress, although if he could see for himself, the verdict would surely be different from the original. He typed for several minutes in front of the screen. He measured his words accurately so as not to announce between the lines anything that might worry him. Then he reread it about five times and felt satisfied.

Angy sat silently in the passenger seat of Nora's car. He was waiting for his sister to leave the house. As always, it took longer than necessary, and his ten minutes often turned into twenty. He kept his hands in his lap, clasped, like his random thoughts. It was a hell of a time keeping his mind clear. She had had a horrible night, crying nonstop until she fell asleep. The first thing he remembered when he opened his eyes was the exquisite appearance of Dorian dressed in that gray suit. He was so handsome… And of course, his attempts to clench his jaw and act naturally were eliminated on the spot. So long acting in his own life and now the forces began to weaken at the worst of times. He was strong, and he had to remain strong for the good of all. It couldn't fall apart, not anymore. As much as doubts bombarded her immune system and threatened to finish off every inch of her person, turning her h

  • The Measure Of Love - Book 2   61

Nora had gotten up early; It wasn't customary, but that night had been different. His skin crawled every time he thought of Angy. He had never seen her that way, crying for someone, much less about a past love. He had become so weak that he had no choice but to promise her what he asked. He would not bring it up again, but there were still many questions in his head to answer. He did not understand his sister's eagerness to refuse to be happy. He had everything to be; if it was reciprocated, the rest was possible, but she was still determined to say no. At first glance it made no sense, but in the end it was something he couldn't remove; a promise was a promise and he would have to swallow his words so that the green gaze would not blur again. She didn't even look like herself. He always saw Angela as a strong woman, but with that damn theme the facade collapsed and she transformed into the opposite, into
