LOGINGaul stood unmoving next to the limousine. He stayed his rifle while watching the two. The fight started. Flatline went in for a thrust, countered by a riposte. Flatline stomped his right foot. And made a downward swing that made the etherian jump.
Twisting her body, she threw the chainsword like a flail. Flatline reacted by sliding the thrumming chainsword sideways, pulled on the chain and almost landed a haymaker if it weren't for her suit guarding the blow. She landed a kick on Flatline's side, following it with an overhead throw that forced Flatline to land on the wall and bounced back.
The etherian didn't waste time on Flatline. She rushed in for a killing blow towards the limo only for a grappler wire to coil around her body and have her slammed on the ground. Pulling the etherian to him, he swatted the etherian with his cutter-vibrant. The etherian blocked the cutter-vibrant and slammed her palm on Flatline. Flatline guarded, pulled on her wrist to throw her away from the limousine.
"Don't stand there," his metallic voice sounded out from his helmet. "Do your duty."
"We need to leave!"
"You people hired me to kill etherians. That's what I am here for. I've gone beyond my contract and if you don't listen. Then there's nothing I can do about it. Gaul, you are in front of an etherian far stronger than anything you had seen this day. I cannot guarantee your lives if you get in my way."
The sternness of his voice left Gaul unable to say anything. Flatline rushed in once again. He swings his cutter-vibrant and met the etherian in single combat. Once in a while, he would shoot his plasma shooter, only for the plasma to disperse with no damage.
Gaul turned his attention away from the battle. He went inside the limousine and found the driver's chest caved in. Removing the protection that caged Miss Angela and the Mistress. Gaul pulled them out of the limousine. Eyes naturally glancing at the battle. When the Mistress saw Flatline duel the etherian, her body shook.
"An etherian with a stronger ether flowing in her veins. We're going to die if we stay here."
"Is he going to be alright?" Angela asked, cocking the rifle in her hands. The Mistress carried a plasma shooter with her hands. Though she trembled that didn't stop her from moving away from the battle. Gaul led them away while hearing the sounds of clashing in the background muffled by the rain.
Trapped in a web of pipes and metal workings. Gaul turned on his communicator. There was no signal on it. Still, no matter how much they walk away from the battle, the battle between the etherian killer and the enemy etherian followed. They were following them and from the destruction that was happening. Gaul prayed that they won't reach them.
Happening on abandoned concrete and metal building. Gaul felt the heat coming from the building. He circled the building and cleared the sides before letting the two in. Climbing on the highest floor to take cover. Gaul focused his vision on where the battle was. He couldn't see well with the rain creating a mist and their battle creating a ruckus. Gaul had prided himself with his ability to handle the blade, but yet he could not fathom how to stand in front of an etherian like that.
The Mistress and Angela moved to the side. The Mistress turned to where the battle was. The chimneys were falling, and the pipes were falling around the industrial area. So much destruction caused only by two people.
"And to think we doubted him."
"Are you okay, Mistress?"
"I am fine, for now," Mistress Ursula said. "But this is a disaster. An entire stadium filled with the blood of the fans. How can I even atone for all of this?"
Gaul lowered his head. Mistress Ursula hugged her knees.
"If he dies here, then it'll be over for us."
"I am sorry that I can't do much, Mistress."
"It's fine," Ursula waved her hands. "Besides, I rather have you here than there. We hired for this reason, don't let that thought slip off your mind."
Her words soothed him. Gaul shook his head and brought up his communicator again. There was still no signal. But from the noise and destruction that they were doing. It won't take long for reinforcements to arrive. Gaul's attention came to the side of the area of the building. He saw cultists searching the perimeter, and he immediately hushed Miss Angela to keep quiet. He stood next to the entrance of the staircase they climbed from.
He might not be someone who could kill an etherian. He might not be a monster like Flatline who could duel someone so strongly that it only makes him shiver. But Gaul still prided himself as a swordsman. He won't lose to third-rate cultists who could only think single-mindedly.
Opening fire, Gaul started his assault. A song echoed around the building, and through that song the cultists froze. Gaul switched to his vibrant blade, slashing cultists until those who were inside died. Outside of the building was a pack of them. Gaul rushed out, shot the cultists while dodging the bullets, running on cover, and slashing their bodies into two. As minutes passed, he noticed the bodies strewn on the ground. He retreated to where the Mistress was, guarding the entrance again.
Taking out of the communicator he got from the cultists. He sent a message to the headquarters associated to the Mistress. Not only that, it broadcasted their location, Gaul was sure that they were going to be under siege. But it was not the time for hesitation, not when there was still a powerful etherian fighting near their location. There was no time. They were going to run out of ammunition and if Flatline loses to the etherian. Gaul would have no choice but to buy time. But how was he going to buy time against someone like that? Gaul didn't want to think about it any longer. He abandoned the thought as firmly grasped the rifle. He'll let Flatline do his role, and he'll do his. That was the only thing on his mind.
The orbs of light hanging on the circular tower not far from where he was lighted Jakob's face. The veil of rain splits the lights. On the community, there was a group of people opening the hatches so that the floodwater whirls down the drain. From the second-floors of the buildings, there were men and women dressed in thick gray clothing.Jakob rested his back on the bench. He looked up. The flyers of Aured City numbered about hundreds a day. The city consumed fuel than any of the bastion cities. He had been ignorant of the world. Jakob did not have to know about the city. All he knows back then was how to survive a day outside of the city.Jakob clenched his fist. He had done something to change something. He did not know what it was that made things turned out this way, but he could not understand the empty feeling. The feelings he had while in battle were like momentary and fleeting."I really cannot do it," Jakob said. The rainwater was like spray hitting h
Jakob stood behind Helga. She wore a sharp business suit with a red tie. She had gloved her hands and tied her hair into a ponytail. She spoke to a man armed to the teeth. Though he looked intimidating, Helga did not show any stiffness or being overwhelmed. How could he, when Jakob was standing behind her with such an expression? The two talked for minutes. Helga shook the armored hand of the man and started strutting to the pad. The Karnifex was on the landing pad. Helga stood. She took out a cigarette from her pocket, lighting it up. She looked up at the Aured Sky."Just a drizzle of rain," Helga said.Jakob folded his armored arms. Helga snickered."You are getting used to that suit.""Hard to take it off when it seems like you are making use of me too much.""Can't help it, you are a good at what you do. Also, the Boss wants to personally make sure that my safety is secured."Jakob surveyed the area. The personnel from the buildin
Dona liked to mix drinks. She had become a better mixer than ever. It seems she had a natural talent. Helga had praised her drink, and when Jakob comes home, she would give him a stiff one that would ease his muscles. They had not done it for a long time, though she did not mind it. He was always full of thoughts and his mind would wander. Not that it matters to her as long as he comes home safe from his missions. He had become one of the terrifying people that Haven knew after his recent works, which made him quite an important person. Just by association, they treated her with respect. Dona knows she was riding on his coattails. It did not bother her that there are those who would call her hurtful words.Jakob was not someone who was a restricting person. For someone who started the relationship with cash, he was someone who did not bother too much about it. He was not a wasteful man. He was thrifty, and he liked to eat nutritional food with fondness. He acts like an
The event definitely took the attention of the people to the fields of Gharasu. The discovery of the cattle-human, and the appearance of the beluaman showed the world who the true enemy was again. They discovered the steelfort project hidden from Humanity. Leaders gathered to address the issue regarding the Project.Commander Stan Blackwells, accompanied by Anastasia and Karl arrived in the conference of leaders. Karl, the holder of the access key to the satellites around the world announced that he is siding with the Commander of Recon Korp. The move alongside the appearance of Commander Blackwell, supported by both human and etherian made the Leaders accept Commander Blackwells' status as one of the protectors of Aured City.As for where Sanctum and Haven stands in the issue, they answered by showing their neutrality in the matter. The first request that Karl made was to take back Gharasu and the steelfort. The government moved to prove that they are accommodating. T
[System switching to backup power][Warning][Exceeding below the fifty-percent damage threshold][Activating life support systems][Warning][Deactivating heads-up display][Exhausting heat][Warning]Jakob swings the greatsword at the beluaman. The beluaman raises the ground, forcing Jakob to use the grappler stake to swing around the beluaman's attack, using the momentum created by the weight of the greatsword to hasten the swing. He turns around to smash the greatsword down on a 15m belua."Still alive, J," Helga called, "you are making Dona worry.""Got to buy time, Hel," Jakob flattened the greatsword to block a root spire. He grappled on the 15m belua, threw the greatsword, caught it, and pummeled a belua pouncing at him. Landing on top of a belua, he stabbed the greatsword's tip."Your suit is a mess," Helga said, "the amount of repairs it'll need is going to cost you. Nonetheless, the ether forge,
Her opinion towards humans were low. Anastasia will not work with these humans if she had the chance to do so. Blackwells changed her opinions of them. This time she had to admit. Humans were not as inferior as she thought. Their technology were keeping them alive. Even their medicine and drugs have started evolving. The suit this Outrider was wearing and the ability to lift her Blackwell's sword was enough to indicate.Still, it was odd in a sense that she did not see the usual side effects. He did not even take the usual syringes that one would take. Her and her Blackwells have been part of the many meetings and experiments. They share the burden of turning their fellow etherians into good soldiers. Therefore, she did not recognize any signs of modification other than the well-made exosuit. Deep in the swamp, hit by the rain, and surrounded. Anastasia kept her calm while pulling her Blackwells away. Blackwells conserved his energy. His eyes lacked light. There is an
