Chapter 9: The Interview

GRACE'S POV

As I arrived home I started working on my new work, which is the PowerPoint presentation Jake told me to do. Honestly, I'm so tired, I already did a lot at the university and my club won't let me rest. I wish- NO Grace! Don't go there. I have a lot to do right now so self, please help me. After I showered I go downstairs and to the table to eat dinner with my mom first. After eating I immediately started working on the ppt. I also still need to prepare for my interview tomorrow, seriously I never get some rest. After talking to myself, I started on my work, I was so immersed in it that I didn't even notice the time.

All I remember is that I finished all of it and practiced for my interview, I don't know what happened after that.

Finally arriving at the company I took some time to catch my breath going inside I asked the receptionist on where I could find the restroom. Entering the restroom, as I looked at my reflection I was shocked. "Damn I look like a freaking lion." Fixing myself up quickly as I am already late for the interview and I know my friends are going to scold me for this. Asking the receptionist again, she led me to where all the applicants for the intern are waiting and as I arrive I only see Yuri sitting outside. As he saw me he started scolding me, "Where the hell did you go?! You are fucked up." Yuri said as he pulls my wrist. "I know I'm sorry, by the way why are we the only ones?" "Penelope is inside I just finished my interview and I didn't like the boss here he gives me bad vibes and about the number of people? Only a few applied and most of them didn't make it." I became nervous about what he said I already know this guy is somehow bad news. "Mind telling me what exactly happened?" Yuri asked while he glares at me. "Well umm…"

FLASHBACK

Hearing my alarm clock ringing, I stirred in bed and my hand finds its way to it to keep from ringing again. Finally turning it off, I went back to sleep, as I know it's Saturday, meaning I don't have classes.

After some good 5 minutes, I remember I have an interview! I sprung out of bed and to see that my alarm has snoozed a lot of times. Shit! Quickly going to the bathroom I showered like I was Flash and throwing my clothes around the room to find my formal wear. I saw my navy blue 2 piece suit, with a knee-length skirt, stumbling on my feet while I wear my cream stiletto heels. This made me nervous, I've never been a fan of heels, but I don't have time to grieve about this.

Finding the works I did and my bag I ran downstairs and out of the house with my mom yelling at me I told her I don't have time, I'll just text her later. Having a hard time running for the bus station as my feet are wobbly, thankfully the bus is already there.

Arriving at the station near the company I ran again until I asked the receptionist for the bathroom.

END OF FLASHBACK

"That's what happened," I said not making I contact, as he's getting ready to scold me. "You-" he didn't finish his sentence as we are interrupted by the door of the room where the interview is happening opened. We saw Penelope smiling ear to ear as she approached us. "Oh my God, guys! You wouldn't believe what happened? I got accepted!!!" "Oh my god... Penelope's dumb ass actually got in?!" exclaimed Yuri with Penelope glaring at him.

With this news, we both congratulated her even though Yuri is confused about how she got in, after that she keeps on talking about this Claude guy which is now her boss. "He's so handsome and I feel like he keeps on flirting with me with the way he talks. His voice is so velvety too. I think he likes me!" she exclaimed with dreamy eyes.

"Seriously Penelope you just met the guy, and besides I don't like him so it's okay if I don't get the internship. He gives me bad vibes." "Well that's your loss-" not finishing her sentence we heard the assistant calling for my name.

"Miss Grace Samont, is Miss Grace Samont here now, if not we'll close the interview." "Wait! I'm already here Ma'am. I'm sorry I was late." "Come here quickly please, the head is not a patient person. And Mr. Yuri I'm afraid I have to tell you that you didn't make it. I'm sorry." with that the assistant starts to make her way to the door again, probably waiting for me. "What the fuck...I actually didn't get in?" Yuri exclaimed, quite shocked by the news. After comforting each other quickly I decided to follow the assistant.

"Good luck Grace!" my friends shouted getting weird looks from some of the people. Inhaling and exhaling softly to calm me down I opened the door and what first greeted me is his voice.

"Well it's only the interview and you're already showing some flaws Ms. Samont."

CLAUDE'S POV

After remarking that, the woman turned around to face me, and as our eyes meet I felt something go through my entire body but I don't know what is it. Brushing of the feeling I cleared my throat and sat down. I studied her face more as she makes her way to the sit in front of me. And I cannot lie that she looks gorgeous than the other one who finished before her. She has brown eyes, naturally long lashes, black hair, but as the sun's light cascaded her figure it became brownish.

Deciding to start the interview I cleared my throat and started to ask her questions usually asked for this job. She answered all of my questions somehow smartly and confidently. She seems like an intelligent lady. Closing her resume I decide to play a little with her. Smirking internally I started my game.

"Needs of the society or needs of the individual?"

"I think it is important to fulfill the needs of both." She answered.

"Coffee or tea?"

"I prefer tea." she answered as I start to saw confusion in her eyes.

"Introspection or communication?"

"Ummm Introspection I think."

"Blue or pink?"

"I'm sorry, is this still about the internship?" hmm she's getting more confident and confuse.

"What was the name of my assistant who assisted you inside?"

"Is...this necessary?"

"Just answer the question Ms. Samont."

"I don't know."

"Gifts or money?"

"Gifts"

"Do you have a boyfriend?" as I asked this I saw some confusion and fury in her eyes.

"I'm sorry what?"

"Do you have Ms. Samont?"

"No…no I don't Sir" her voice fading out as she lowers her head.

"Would like to go out with me?" with this she quickly moves her head up with wide eyes.

"What? No, that's utterly inappropriate."

"Why, may I ask? I am quite handsome and rich at that too, a lot of girls would die to have your position right now."

GRACE'S POV

When he asked me that question, I lost. I know he's been playing with me and if he thinks I will tolerate his attitude, no. Guys like this should know this is wrong. Is this the guy Penelope is over heels for? He's worse than Jake.

"With all due respect Sir, it is very inappropriate for you to ask this question to a mere applicant just wanting to have her job. If you think this method is good then you are crazy. You don't have to say these things to my face and just think I would all agree to that. A lot of girls may fall for your charm but not me. I respect myself. I would not apply to a company where their boss is a jerk. I would rather not get my internship here. Thank you."

With that I bowed and left the room seething in anger, who does he think he is.

CLAUDE'S POV

I was somehow shocked and amused by this woman's confidence to say that to me. I can say she is interesting. Looking at her back as she makes her way out of my office, a smirk was dancing on my lips.
