2020-09-15 01:00:54They reached downstairs, without Evelina slipping or James and Teddy stepping on her gown. All three them internally sighed in relief and exchanged polite smiles before going towards their families.
After officially starting the banquet and introductions, Evelina was already tired. She excused herself and went to sit down on one of the corner tables. She was casually sipping her juice, when she heard silent chuckles from the table in front of hers.
She looked up from her glass to find it full of all the older boys from earlier along with her brothers and Albert.
She was about to look back own at her glass and get lost in her own world of thoughts when she realised someone was calling for her.
She looked around then her eyes zeroed on Sam who was waving at asking her to come over. Evelina wanted to ignore him but others also noticed him asking her to go over. She defeatedly stood up and dragged her over to them.
Though she was dragging herself for others she was elegantly walking over. She politely smiled and stood in between her brothers.
"What are you standing for join us, why will you be sitting over there all alone" Lauren asked her as he motioned her to sit beside him.
"I just excused myself from all of those introductions, you caught me again even before I took a breather" Evelina deadpanned as she took a seat in between Teddy and Lauren.
"My poor sister, I know how consuming these banquets can be but we can't help. All of us over here have to go through it once in a year. At least for this one you don't have to bring a date but for others we spend half of our times searching for dates" Sam said as he sighed in horror.
"Make sure to exclude James and Teddy out of it" Fred quoted quickly as he smirked towards Teddy and James. The latter gave him a death glare which Fred shrugged of nonchalantly.
"Why is that" Evelina asked calmly but her turquoise eyes showed interest in them.
"Well..in case of Teddy he has Victoire. If you don't know it, Teddy and Victoire are dating since Victoire was in third year of Hogwarts and Teddy in fourth year. In case of James girls fall in line to become his date before any ball" Fred said in a cheeky tone as he smirked towards James.
"Fred, let me tell you something about Eva. There are three major balls every year and those are the only balls Eva attends. It is Christmas Ball and Valentine's Day Ball of Ilvermorny and McJones Family's Annual Ball but..." Albert trailed of dramatically and glanced towards Evelina.
The latter was unfazed, as if she was not the main topic of discussion. She was calmly sipping her juice without any worry of the world.
"But boys line up months before the balls, guess what she would randomly ask me to choose one of them and go to ball with him. Poor boy, he won't be remembered the very next. It is more like as soon as the ball is over she and that guy never knew each other at all" Albert sighed in defeat.
"Isn't that true, I didn't know him in the first place" Evelina commented lightly.
All the boys except Lauren, Sam and Albert looked at her with wide eyes and hanging jaws.
"My goodness, how can you say that. I can already hear the sounds of their breaking pride of those boys, my goodness I don't want to imagine what it is going to be with Dominique and Alice added with you" Fred sighed dramatically.
"Why, what are they two like" Albert asked innocently, though he already had a rough idea about it.
"Dominique loves to change boyfriends every month, whereas Alice would date a guy till she is bored with him and later dump him" Fred said as he shuddered at the thought of it.
"Oh my, I guess it is going to be very hard for all the boys in Hogwarts then" Albert said as he chuckled playfully.
Evelina simply ignored him, she continued to sip her juice as she felt it was more interesting than the useless talks of the duo.
"Who is this beautiful lady, brother Lauren don't tell me you found a girlfriend" a young boy with hazel brown hair asked in a playful tone.
"Lorcan you finally show up....Wait you said she was my girlfriend" Lauren snapped when he realised what the younger one said.
Lorcan blinked in confusion, as his eyes traveled between the calm and mesmerizing beauty and an infuriated older brother of his.
"This is our sister Evelina Rose Wood, she returned from France few days back and this is her birthday banquet" Sam calmly explained and sorted out the confusion.
"Do Rose and I look like a couple why are everyone keen on making us a couple, though I won't mind if she was not my sister but how can I date my blood related sister" Lauren breathed out annoyed and displeased.
"I am relieved that you two are not dating, this gives me a chance to flirt with such a beautiful lady" Lorcan said as he winked at Evelina.
The latter was least interested in his flirty talks and ignored his existence completely without hesitation.
"Lorcan don't start flirting the second you meet a beautiful girl" James said as he looked annoyed and displeased.
"Wow..James Sirius Potter actually complimented a girl as beautiful, now I must be dreaming for real" Lorcan said in a dramatic way.
Evelina stood up when her eyes met with her mother's who asked the former to go over. She smiled at everyone politely and looked at Sam.
"Mum is calling me, I will go over you guys continue" Evelina said calmly and curtly as she excused herself.
"Lorcan, let me tell you she will not be interested in you. As far as I have seen she is the only girl who could resist James's charms" Fred said in a matter-of-factly tone.
