  • Void Agent   Boca City

Burk stopped at the woodline, just outside of Boca City. Boca acted as the central hub of all commerce within the Zeri Clan. It was also where the two leading families in the Clan resided. Boca was surrounded by an impressive wooden wall comprised of locally cut timber. The ends of the timber had been uniformly sharpened to a point, creating a jagged impression of monstrous teeth. The outside of the City walls had been cleared a quarter of a mile in all directions. It was like a perfectly round circle had been cut out of the forest land. The city had both a North and South gate, with the south gate heading toward the small fishing village of Alba.Burk dropped stealth and exited the woods. The road leading to the North gate was made from red cobblestone, horse-drawn wagons were queued up outside of the entrance. The feel of the sun on his face made his stride falter slightly. It was as if

  • Void Agent   First Assignment

True to his word, Director Kai returned two hours later and helped him out of the herbal tank. The old man left immediately after giving Burk some new clothes to wear.Burk stood in front of the mirror while slowly drying off with a towel. There were only a few lingering scars from the pit; a series of puncture marks on his left side was given to him by a three-foot-long centipede. Two other scars were visible on his legs, one from a scorpion and another from a snake. He guessed his current height to be around six feet, roughly four inches shorter than his original body. As an officer in the military, Jonas Burkley regularly lifted weights and ran. His only combat oriented skill was courtesy of the black belt he earned from Serra BJJ; a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy that he trained in for several years while growing up in New York."I thought my new gear would be more Ninja-like." All in all, Burk felt good.

  • Void Agent   Poison Pit

Burk sat calmly at the Director's desk. Kai had left the All-Journal out for him, and the former researcher spent the morning hours reading it. From Home Station, the Void Agents could access Axian. HQs provided oversight in both Mist and Earth; travel between the three known worlds was possible, providing the person possessed the necessary Ley-points. As Kai mentioned, Axian was a cultivator world and was also the easiest to travel to. The former owner of his body was born on a small island called Tiel; it was Lazar's territory."The first rule of any assignment, learn geography first." A voice spoke from the office doorway; a moment later, an old scroll landed in front of him.Burk opened the scroll and studied the hand-drawn map. The continent of Axian was shaped similar to Africa and was completely surrounded by water. Unlike the African continent, a large portion of the interior subcontinent was cover

  • Void Agent   Pinned

Jonas struggled to keep his eyes open, but the warmth of the room seemed to make his eyelids heavy. He was lying on a warm slab of black stone; his thin body was covered in a small towel while dozens of pins protruded from his flesh. "What's the purpose of this again?""You are lucky. Young Li wasn't a cultivator, so the transition is easier. This will enable you to bridge the distance between your memories. All knowledge and abilities from both of your lives must be integrated completely. Relax, and I'll explain things."Jonas nodded and closed his eyes."Let's start with your name. You must establish your identity now; two sets of memories inhabit Young Li's body. What would you like to be called?"Jonas considered the question for a moment before answering. He felt like Jonas Burkley; the memories of his life on Earth seemed to be at the forefront of his consciousness. "My friends call me Burk; from t

  • Void Agent   Higgs Boson Particle

[1900 Hours Badakhshan, Pakistan]"This is the last of it, Major Burkley?" Special Agent Rizzo was in charge of data retrieval. She looked like someone's college-age sister, but the reality was quite different. Her white-blonde hair was tied up in a neat bun; she had an attractive face that seemed incapable of displaying emotion.Jonas nodded; he has seen her type before. Ex-Black Ops, or special forces, recruited by the agency for clean-up. Dr. Jonas Burkley had spent the better part of three years in the tiny mountain compound, hidden away in Pakistan. The MIT graduate was part of a team conducting experiments with the Higgs Boson particle. "This is all I have; I'm just the math guy."Rizon turned her ice-cold blue eyes on the researcher. She had been briefed on everyone; to protect the secrecy, all of the research was sectioned off. No one was allowed to know everything. The "Math Guy" was the foremost expert in his field. His e
