LOGINI cleaned my greasy stained hands on my blue maxi dress leaving an odd stain. Now I don't only look like an outcast, I look like a four years old. Thank heavens for the free chicken stand in the park for kids. I trotted toward a warmer region of the park with less people and sat down on the grassy ground. The sky had turned grey.
"Rain. Why?" I sighed to myself. I laid against the grass staring up at the sky. Why am I even here? Oh yeah. I needed space and that's why I'm seating lonely on the ground of this cold park. The sky rumbled and parents started leading their children away. In all the commotion and movements, I sat still on the grass staring right ahead of me. My dad couldn't be the culprit. I won't believe it until I've asked him myself.
I really need to be a doubting thomas right now because I can't just face the fact that my dad was...using me? Urgh!!
I shut my eyes as the sky released cool liquids on my face. The drizzle came down on me and I shivered but for a reason, I couldn't get up. The cold feeling was setting my blazing nerves at ease.
I thought about calling my dad now but remembered I didn't bring my phone out with me. What a stupid move. And what about Damien? How's he doing? Is he loosing his shit over me not being around. It's selfish to say but I'd love to know he actually cares. And I'm sure I'll get an earful when I see him. I wrapped my arms closer around myself. What about my mom. does she know about all these?
"Jay!"
I sat upright immediately looking into the far distance. I noticed a tall man in loose pants and a white shirt skipping towards me. He was in a grey cardigan. Damien!. I got up quickly, didn't move an inch. Just waited for him to get to where I stood so I could hear him thunder out but he pulled me in a hug. My hands stood limb by my side.
"You're shaking" he took his cardigan of placing it on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry" I said nimbly. Damien stroke my face.
"Let's get you out of this rain first. He pulled me into his arms and carried me. I wanted to have space but I'm well happy he came for me. Happy that he's here right now. We stopped at his car. He opened the door helping me into the backseat then he sat beside me. The driver started off.
Damien pulled me so close to him no space was remaining. He kept kissing my head and hugging me tight and I felt bad about making him worry now. We arrived back at the hotel and once more, I was in Damien's arms again.
When we got to our suite, Chloe rushed to hug me but Damien didn't let go off me.
"I'm fine now" I said I tell him.
"No you're not. I'll get the shower running" he glared at Chloe before walking off. My best friend made no time in engulfing me.
"Oh sweetie you scared me"
"I'm sorry. I just needed to get away" I shrugged. Chloe batted her lashes.
"Get away from what?"
"We'll talk about it later" sighing, I flopped on the bed forgetting I'm all soaked up so I got up quickly, slipping but fell into Damien's arms. For the third time today.
"I'll see you tomorrow dear" Chloe kissed my cheek, exchanging a weird glare with Damien before exiting the suite. He started helping me out of my clothes, oddly quiet tonight.
"You're not mad?" I asked in a hushed voice.
"No. I understand why you left, Jay and I'm sorry"
I nodded, short of words. Something definitely happened while I was gone.
"But I'm slightly mad" he jolted. There we go. I thought it wasn't coming. Damien helped me out of my last piece of clothing and then carried me to the bathroom. He deposited me in the tub and then started taking his own clothes off.
"Slightly" I whispered. He slid into the tub behind me and then pulled me to him.
"Never run away like that again Jay. You scared me."
"I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking . I just needed to leave at that moment" I shrugged.
"Next time, think. You endangered your health and our baby's. What if I hadn't found you in that rain. You would've fainted or worse, caught a cold.!" Damien said in an audible voice.
"Your mad aren't you?"
"Stop asking me that" he scolded.
I turned to face him, straddling him. "I'm really sorry Damien"
He sighed and held me to him. As we sat in the tub in silence, he seemed to zone off into space.
"I'm sorry you had to hear about your dad that way" he finally spoke up. My whole body ran cold remembering why I ran away.
"My dad didn't do it. There's got to be an explanation to all of these" I plead. I felt tears building behind my eyes Damien sensed it and hugged me.
"I wish there was a better explanation" he croaked. I got up abruptly. I'm sick of all these I need to call my dad now. I stepped out of the tub and into the bedroom. I grabbed my phone from my bed side dialing my dad's number but Damien snatched the phone away.
"What are you doing?
"I need to talk to my dad!" I sobbed.
"If you want to talk to him, you need to do it in person!" Damien said raising his voice and something in me snapped.
"Stop it! All of you need to stop treating me like a child..!"
"Jay...."
"All I had to do was be a good girl since I was little but now I'm grown, Damien. I don't need anyone telling me what to do and I don't want you treating me like a trophy wife!" I yelled in anger. I snatched the phone from him and punched my dad's number.
"I don't treat you like a trophy wife" Damien said. A little bit calm.
"Oh yes you do. And I get the reason I'm here with you right now is to strengthen the tie between my dad's company and yours. Now I feel like I'm married to you because my dad wanted to steal from you!" I sat on the bed and broke down into tears. My world seemed to be coming apart in just one night. How cruel is life? It's like I have every decision that was ever made for me thrown back in my face. I'm the middleman in all of these.
The side of the bed crumpled as Damien sat beside me.
"So what are you saying?" He asked.
"I'm saying I'm tired of all these." The tears kept pouring out. "I'm tired of being everyone's errand girl cause that's what it feels like. Be good for daddy and mommy when I was little and now be good for you"
Damien placed his hands against his face and then breathed out.
"When I got married to you Jay I didn't see you as a little girl or some Trophy wife to just look good on my shoulder" he faced me. " I thought you were the most bravest woman I'd ever met"
"I wasn't brave Damien. I was scared"
"But you hid it. That's why your brave. I Admired you"
"Past tense?" I asked. He said admired. What does he feel now.
"Yes. Admired. Cause now, I just love you so much, it's scary"
The sun was already going down and I've given Damien many kisses than I can count. We didn't only golf but barbecued. Rose came over and helped us with steaks. We found a shady spot with a wooden table and trunks like stools round the table. It looked man-made though but it was pretty."Thanks for the steaks, Rose"Rose smiled at me and nodded before going back to the grill. Everyone was much too hungry after the games to even talk. Chloe of all people was stuffing her face with potatoes and steak at the same time."We should do this every weekday Dammy" Elle said. I cringed at the name she called him because once upon a time, Bethany had called him that and it annoyed the hell out of me. Still annoys me."Are you planing to stay here much longer?" Damien frowned and I hit his leg under the table. He stared at me and I mouthed be nice. He rolled his eyes at me and dug his fork into his steak.
Danielle hit the ball so hard, we couldn't find where it flew to. It's a warm Wednesday and we're both playing golf and bonding over food and makeup."Do you think it ran into the trees?" Elle asked. She bent down and picked another golf ball."Guess so"I placed my hand to shield my eyes from the sun. Elle had told me to take a cap with him but I'd blantanly refused. I thought it'd be weird wearing a summer dress, tennis shoes and a cap. Oh and let me not fail to mention that I'm pregnant. Now I see she had a point."Do you hear that?" I asked Elle. There was a humming sound coming toward us. Like a truck but it didn't have that rugged sound. Elle dropped her ball down next to a hole and gave it a tiny tud. The ball rolled slowly along the well trimmed grass until it entered into the hole.I clapped my hands as Elle jumped up and down. That's her first win today.
Coming to the house Damien bought for us over a month ago again felt like coming into a totally different place. The place was transformed and looked pretty. Fortunately for me, Damien didn't change anything about the interior of the sitting room because I'd loved the modern yet vintage setting. And of course, I didn't fail to notice the double security Damien put up. Since the house was by the water side, I think he has this idea that I might be kidnapped again by water and all that shit. I don't even know all the crazy stuffs that go through that guys head. He thinks I'm a baby that need pampering!"Would you like a feet massage before Mr Forrest get back from work?" The plump lady in front of me asked. She's not Rose. This house has more maids than I could ever imagine. So Rose is like the head of them all. AND NO!....."I don't need a foot massage!" I state with a loud and clear voice, hoping sh
The moment we stepped back into the ballroom, Bethany's eyes zeroed on me and I gave her a little, tight smirk. She rolled her eyes and looked away. Haha sucker! Damien pulled out my seat and then excused himself. I was left with Bethany and some others at the table.I wish I had brought my phone so I didn't have to stare at her stupid face all the time. I dragged my hands over my tummy as the blonde by my side smiled at me. I smiled at her. She wasn't here before so I guess she just arrived."Hello. I guess your here with Damien" she said and I nodded."He's my husband" I smiled and she chuckled."Why, it's nice to meet you" her voice sounded English. Her thick accent also complimented her tight blonde bun and black Versache gown. I bet she has a black or silver sandal to go with it. Her eyes were also masked with thick mascara and smoky eyes. She's pretty and I'll hate to think she was one of Da
As I sat in the Limo, I tried not to remember the last time I and Damien were together in this same Limo. I had gone over myself that night.Damien squeezed my hands and I stared up at him. There's no telling what would transpire at this event. We might meet Alberto and we might not meet him. We might find out that he was the one who sent those kidnappers and we might learn that he's not the one. And even if he told us what we needed to know, how would we know that he was telling the truth??."Just remember to smile always and if you feel nauseous or sick at any moment, just tell me and I'd get you out of there" Damien went over the note of the night."Alright. You've told me that like seventy times now" I sighed and he chuckled.."I just want you to be happy and safe at the same time."The Limo came to a stop and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. This wasn't one of chloes fa
I woke up with movement above me. I opened one eye slowly so I don't go blind from the brightness of the room. Damien smiled when he saw I was awake."Good morning, beautiful" he hummed and then planted a kiss to my lips. "I made you breakfast""Hmm...I like the sound of that" I grinned."Sure you do. Come" he took my hand and helped me seat up. I relax against the head board and he fetched a tray of what smelled like chocolate chilli tart. There was a rose by the side ."Damien. You're incredible" I brushed my nose against his. "I love you""I love you. Now eat before I loose my patience" he smirked."Pervert!" I called out and he shrugged. I found myself digging into the tarte and boy, was it good. Yes it was. I dipped my finger into the Marple syrup by the side and stuck it in front of Damien."Have a syrup" I teased."Are you kidding m
